Personality

Mitsuya Personality 1

Author Ken Wakui has done an amazing job developing characters. Each character has his charm and distinctive personality. Takashi Mitsuya also has a very unique and interesting persona.

Takashi Mitsuya has a very amiable nature. He is a wellspring of energy in Toman. Unlike his commander, he is a cool and calm character that looks into the situation first. If possible, he avoids getting into fights, but he is never afraid to when necessary. He has a strong willed-heart and never complains about his situation.

Mitsuya is an exemplary brother too. Subsequently, he is quite prudent and is aware of his surroundings and other people’s hassles and problems. He always tries to respect their feelings and sympathizes with them.

Mitsuya Personality 2

Mitsuya doesn’t only act as a brother to his siblings but is even Hakkai and Yuzuha Shiba’s brotherly figure. They look up to him because of how he handled situations and gave them important life lessons. Mitsuya became the opposite of Taiju Shiba who is Hakkai and Yuzuha’s older brother (Chapter 78).

Mitsuya, like Draken, respects his commander, Mikey and always has been loyal to him despite any situation.

Strengths and Skills

Mitsuya Influence

Influence

As the 2nd Division Captain of the Tokyo Manji Gang and also one of its founding members, Takashi Mitsuya has a lot of influence in the gang’s decisions. Mitsuya has as much authority as Baji used to have.

Through his influence, he was able to convince Mikey and the other Captains to let him strike a deal with Taiju and not punish Hakkai (Chapter 83).

Even though Hakkai didn’t reveal his past with the Black Dragons to Mitsuya which caused a lot of suspicion of him being a spy, Mitsuya calmed the situation down and even managed to get the offer through Taiju (Chapter 84).

Mitsuya Fighting Prowess

Fighting Prowess

Even though Mitsuya is not interested in fighting and mostly tries to avoid it, like most members of Toman, he is good at fighting and has shown his fighting skills in several critical situations.

His most remarkable fighting event was during the dispute with Black Dragons when he fought the leader of Black Dragons, Taiju Shiba. Taiju was overwhelmingly stronger than Mitsuya, despite that, Mitsuya showed great fighting tactics and Taiju had to resort to backhanded tricks to defeat him (Chapter 97).

Mistuya Sewing

Sewing

It might sound a bit weird, but despite his looks, Mitsuya loves stitching and is the head of his school club. His skills and expertise in stitching are respected by everyone. He is never afraid to show off his skills despite his recognition.

Mitsuya was the one who designed Toman’s uniform. As a symbol of gratitude, Mitsuya also sewed a uniform for Takemichi (Chapter 68).

Facts

  • Hakkai Shiba’s wallpaperis Mitsuya (Chapter 78).
  • Hakkai calls him Taka-chan.
  • Mitsuya died in several alternate futures Takemichi went back to.
  • Mitsuya’s dream is to become a fashion designer.

Past/History

Mitsuya Past1

Mitsuya’s upbringing was quite harsh: being the eldest sibling, he had the duty to take care of his younger siblings and at the same time do house chores. They had no father and their mother was always out consistently striving for money (Chapter 84).

One day, while playing with his sisters in the playground, he saw a young boy beating somebody. That boy was Hakkai Shiba. He halted him and repudiated his actions. He taught him the real purpose of strength and how and when to use it. At that point, Mitsuya and his Vice-captain, Hakkai Shiba formally met. From that point forward, Hakkai admired Mitsuya as a perfect brother (Chapter 84).

One day, on an unusual event, Mitsuya fled from his home, leaving his sisters alone. That time, when he was alone, he saw an unusual pattern on a wall without realizing that somebody was closely observing him. It was Ken Ryuguji aka Draken. At that moment, he met Draken (Chapter 122).

Mitsuya Past 2

Mitsuya was quite hungry as he ran away from home without eating anything, realizing that Draken offered him food.  As Mitsuya was hungry, he accepted Draken’s offer and ate to his fill. In return for food, Draken told Mitsuya that he will be taking his Dragon painting. Draken, at that point, carried Mitsuya to the place he called home (Chapter 122).

Mitsuya then played games with some girls and Draken at the brothel. All this enjoyment made Mitsuya jealous. He told them that they are quite lucky to have such an enjoyable and free life, and he also wants to live with them (Chapter 122).

Mitsuya Past 3

At that moment, the girls shouted at him, telling him to return home. Draken disclosed to him that this place is not a home for the girls; this is just a building where they have to stay. After some time, they run into one another again just to discover that they possess identical tattoos on their heads (Chapter 122).

Subsequently, both of them came to be known as the “Twin Dragons”. Mitsuya ultimately turned out to be close to the other established individuals from the Tokyo Manji Gang before its establishment.

He was there when Toman was first founded to fight against the Black Dragons (Chapter 63). Lastly, Mitsuya also appeared when the Shonen Mermaids made fun of Mikey and the rest of Toman during their early days (Chapter 43).

Plot

Mitusya Plot 1

Mitsuya first became relevant to the story when he met Takemichi at Toman’s meeting at the Musashi Shrine. Two members of Toman unaware of Takemichi were trying to drive him away; Mitsuya sees this and realizes that it must be Takemichi because he too had not seen him before (Chapter 10).

He scolds the members and takes Takemichi to Mikey. As the convention begins, Pehyan and Pah-Chin try to pick on Takemichi. Mitsuya and Ken Ryuguji put an end to their bullying (Chapter 10).

After stopping them, Draken and Mitsuya clarify that Pah-chin is quite traumatized as one of his close friends got into a fight with the leader of Moebius (One of Tokyo’s Top Gangs), Nobutaka Osanai.

Mitsuya also fought against Moebius and was the first Toman Captain to help Draken after he was cornered by members of Moebius (Chapter 21)After Takemichi successfully helped Draken make it to the hospital, Mitsuya told Pehyan how Draken felt about Pah-Chin going to jail. This makes Pehyan rejoin Toman and apologize for betraying everyone’s trust (Chapter 28).

Mitsuya Plot 2

During Bloody Halloween, Mitsuya backed up Takemichi as he was getting beaten by two members of Valhalla (Chapter 52). Valhalla was cornering Toman even if Mitsuya and the other Captains were able to hold their own. Most of Toman’s members were down but all of them got their fighting morale back after they saw Takemichi doing his best, even if he wasn’t prepared (Chapter 53).

At the end of Bloody Halloween, Mitsuya’s spirit was down and tears crept down his cheeks as Baji, his long-time friend and fellow founder loses his life (Chapter 63)After the incident, Mitsuya helped Hakkai get out of his situation with Taiju. He struck a deal with Taiju Shiba where Hakkai will join the Black Dragons but he won’t abuse him or Yuzuha ever again (Chapter 84).

The deal didn’t do any good as Mitsuya, Hakkai, Takemichi, and Chifuyu would face off against Taiju during Christmas Eve. Mitsuya grabbed Yuzuha’s knife by the blade and told Taiju that he’ll show him what it means to be an older brother (Chapter 96). Mitsuya and Taiju went head-to-head, and he was able to keep up against the giant, until Inui came out of nowhere and smashed his head with a metal rod, knocking him out (Chapter 97).

Mitsuya Plot 3

Mitsuya stood back up and fought against the Black Dragons until they won when Mikey and Draken backed them up (Chapter 107). However, his injuries didn’t stop there. During the Kanto Incident, he couldn’t fight against Tenjiku because he was hit with a brick in the back of the head by Ran Haitani (Chapter 128).

As Toman disbanded, Mitsuya cried but held his head high accepting that his journey in the gang has ended (Chapter 189). As an adult, Mitsuya followed his dream and opened up his own design studio (Chapter 194).

Mitsuya and the other Toman members, open their time capsules and read Mikey’s letter. There, he finds the first plushy he made for his sisters because his family couldn’t afford to buy them toys (Chapter 198). Mitsuya achieved his dream and is living the best future possible, for now.

Final Verdict

Even if Takashi Mitsuya is just a supporting character, it’s no doubt that he has a big involvement in the Tokyo Revengers series. He influenced the actions of several characters including Takemichi. Mitsuya teaches us to not hate our situation at home and continue to walk through life, even if we have to work hard to get what we want.
