Taiju Shiba Wiki
Taiju means, “big” and Shiba means “brush”. Taiju Shiba is the 10th leader of the Black Dragons Gang. He gives off very intimidating vibes. Taiju Shiba has two younger siblings, Hakkai Shiba who’s a part of the Tokyo Manji Gang, and Shiba Yuzuha. Rumors say that his younger brother killed the previous leader of the Black Dragons for Money. (2).
The Black Dragons have been the top delinquent gang in the Kanto Region for generations and that’s because of their absolute ruler, Taiju Shiba.

Taiju Shiba made a very dramatic appearance in the Tokyo Revengers. (1). There had been a clash between the Toman and Black Dragons. Suddenly, Taiju hits Takemichi to keep him from interfering with the two brothers’ conflict. And that’s when we get to see Yuzuha Shiba in action!
He left the scene in Chapter 110, leaving a mark on the afterlife of many characters. WARNING! This summary contains spoilers of the manga, chapters that won’t get animated in the Spring 2021 season. In fact, Taiju won’t even appear in the first season of the anime, so stop right here if you don’t want to be spoiled.

Appearance
Just like Ken Ryuguji, he’s quite tall with blue hair that is long and kept tied. As for his uniform, he wears a customized Black Dragons uniform. Taiju wears an open long jacket, exposing the tattoo on his chest. He also has a cross tattoo on his back, and he gives off a psychotic grin that exhibits all types of bizarre expressions.
Taiju is probably the tallest character encountered in this universe, at least in the older timeline. With his whopping 198 centimeters, he poses a serious threat to any regular gang member, and he said that he only used fifty percent of his strength during the church fight.
This is a serious thing, as he is only two years older than the rest of the cast. Taiju has long hair, with many different colors in it. Almost all of his body is filled with tattoos, that include Black Dragons’ emblem, pure text, and a giant cross, showing his faith. He has a villainous expression on his face almost at all times.

Taiju Shiba is a very cocky and brutal person. He talks less and fights more. He’s the type of person who would enjoy tormenting other people for his pleasure, which makes him kind of psychotic. Taiju doesn’t even care about his siblings, he used to abuse them in childhood (3). And all the harassment led his siblings to get stronger and join different gangs.
He completely reformed the 10th generation Black Dragons. At that time, Seishu Inui was in the same gang. He’s a very prideful individual who believes that nobody can surpass his fighting abilities. In fact, he’s one of the strongest characters in the series. In addition, he captures the heart of his followers by being super charismatic!
Although he may not seem like it yet he’s a devoted Christian who celebrates Christmas every time at the church.
Taiju actually loves his siblings a lot but his overprotectiveness results in domestic abuse. He used to hit Hakkai Shiba and say, “I love you, Hakkai”. (3)
Taiju is not a nice guy. He gained the reputation of a rotten child pretty quickly and passed that disgrace to his siblings as well. He used violence to show emotions. He wasn’t a particularly smart kid, but the immense strength and charisma he owned made the other kids respect him. His quick resolve gave him an advantage in many fights, and the ruthless perspective gained him hatred from anyone he encountered.

When it comes to power, Taiju has to be on the list. His amazing power fighting skills make him destroy anyone in front of him. Taiju’s destructive blows and endless durability make him unstoppable. In fact, he was the only person who knocked Mikey out without any weapons! And he literally stands up instantly after getting Mikey’s power kick!
Among the ranks of the Black Dragons, his authority was unquestioned and uncontested. He ruled the gang with an iron fist, resulting in the creation of the military hegemon of the underworld. His power was feared by most of the gangs in Tokyo and even the region, but we don’t know of any major fight between their gangs except for the conflict with Toman.

When it comes to power, Taiju has to be on the list. His amazing power fighting skills make him destroy anyone in front of him. Taiju’s destructive blows and endless durability make him unstoppable. In fact, he was the only person who knocked Mikey out without any weapons! And he literally stands up instantly after getting Mikey’s power kick!
Being the leader of the Black Dragons, Taiju Shiba has untied the gang together like an unbreakable rock. His followers not only obey him out of fear but out of respect. He’s very charismatic therefore, everyone around him, adores him.
He might possibly be the best and the strongest fighter from the franchise. He has effective punches, has high stamina, and was also able to take on multiple enemies simultaneously. He took care of Toman’s elite and was able to knock out Mikey for a small amount of time. Although he got knocked out by him as well, Taiju quickly regained consciousness, enduring Mikey’s strongest kick. He wasn’t just physically strong though. Taiju also had a powerful aura that made both his allies and enemies fear him. WIth this fear, also came with respect.

Past/History
Since these siblings had no parent to look after them or raise them in a good way, Taiju being the eldest brother tried to do his best in raising his younger siblings. He’s often physical with Yuzuha Shiba whose power is second to none now. And his little brother was very scared of him, therefore, Yuzuha took the hits for Hakkai every time.
He holds a personal grudge against Hakkai for joining hands with the Tokyo Manji Gang instead of Black Dragons. In fact, he has offered Hakkai to join Black Dragons so many times too! (1)
Taiju is a devoted Christian, therefore, he prays every year during the time of Christmas. He likes to be alone at that time.
Originally, the Black Dragons were created by Shinichiro Sano who’s the elder brother of Manjiro Sano. Due to his natural leadership skills, Taiju Shiba was appointed as the leader of Black Dragons. Anyone would have followed him and loved him. He changed the Black Dragons completely! And turned them into an Army-like force.

This gang was established by the late brother of Manjiro Sano, Toman’s leader. Shinichiro wasn’t a strong guy, but his ideals made others respect him. After a leader retired or was taken out, a new generation began. Taiju was the leader of the tenth generation. He revived the weak squad after beating the temporary president, Inui, who appointed him as their leader after their fight. Taiju pushed through a complete reform, even creating new uniforms. He sold their military strength for the rich, turning the Black Dragons into a mercenary army. During his leadership, the gang was known as the most powerful and feared organization in Kanto, despite being governed by middle- and high schoolers.

Yuzuha Shiba
Shiba Yuzuha is the younger sister of Taiju Shiba. She’s known for her strength and bravery. She enjoys good fights, powerful opponents, and fighting too!
As she was domestically abused by one of his brothers, Taiju, she turned out to be a very mentally and physically strong girl. Yuzuha always protected Hakkai Shiba. From childhood till the present, she protects Hakkai Shiba from the destructive violence of Taiju.
In one of the fights of Taiju and Hakkai along with few members of Toman Gang, Yuzuha protected Hakkai from getting a hit and stabs Taiju Shiba. But then again, Takemichi prevents Taiju from hurting himself.
Yuzuha, despite being a girl, also experienced the wrath of Taiju. He first wanted to give out an equal amount of punches to his little siblings, but Yuzuha defied him.
She told him that she would rather get the hits Hakkai otherwise had to endure. She was the one protecting her little brother, despite the lies Hakkai told his friends. This was revealed during the church fight by Taiju[6].
Yuzuha also tried to kill Taiju there because of Kisaki’s temptation, but she failed. After a great emotional and physical battle, the conflict finally settling in the family, and as everyone survived, they could conclude it as a victory for justice. Yuzuha and Hakkai were able to recover from their bruises in just a week.
Hakkai Shiba
There’s a bittersweet relationship between these two brothers. Hakkai Shiba is the younger brother of Taiju Shiba. He’s the only brother of Yuzuha who actually cares about her.
Hakkai used to be a very cowardly person who always ran away from difficult situations. But now he has turned into a well-mannered and a good person who makes all of his decisions by himself. One of his decisions includes joining Toman instead of Black Dragons.
Hakkai was the main driving point of the Black Dragons Arc, as Takemichi came back from the future specifically to stop him from killing his brother. Hakkai held a grudge against Taiju for a long time. This came down to the abuse Taiju brought upon his younger siblings. Both Hakkai and Yuzuha got the worst treatment.
But Hakkai decided to learn this attitude, and he frequently beat up other kids at the park. It was due to the help of Mitsuya, one of Toman’s captains, that Hakkai was able to change for the better. After the beginning of their friendship, Hakkai tried to defy his brother whenever he could and even joined Toman. Taiju was obviously annoyed by this, and their hateful relationship brought many others into the battle between siblings.
Hakkai went that far that he tried to kill Taiju, but he failed. After the church fight, he told Taiju that he can no longer control their lives[5], and that conversation marked the end of their relationship.
Taiju returned to their family home after a while, which surprised Hakkai. Hakkai then realized that he brought danger to his recently made friend, Takemichi, a captain in Toman. Taiju ordered to kill him[1], but Hakkai intervened, offering to leave Toman and join the Black Dragons. Taiju was pleased with this decision, but Takemichi was beaten either way.
This incident brought about the conflict between the Tokyo Manji Gang and the Black Dragons. The captain of Toman’s Second Division, Mitsuya stood up to make a peace agreement[2] and handed Hakkai over to Taiju if he promised to let go of Yuzuha, who was kept at their house at the time. He agreed, but the problems continued as Hakkai was waiting for an opportunity to leave Toman for a long time already, for the sole reason to find an opening on killing his brother.
Taiju was clueless about the assassination attempt against him and went to his local church to pray on Christmas night, as he was a Christian himself[3]. Takemichi, Chifuyu, and Kisaki in the meantime gathered to beat Taiju themselves and make sure Hakkai won’t kill him. Although Hakkai wasn’t able to kill his brother, their lives were put in danger now, as Taiju was one beast of a human. He had no issues fighting multiple enemies, even after his sister, Yuzuha, showed up and stabbed him.
It was only after the intervention of Mitsuya, Mikey, and Draken that they were able to beat Taiju. He was able to stand up, but to his surprise, the army of the Black Dragons was already knocked out outside. Taiju accepted his defeat and the fact that he can no longer control the life of his siblings. He later gave up his position as the leader as well.

Taiju Shiba is one of the main antagonists in the Tokyo Revengers. You know just what to do when Taiju Shiba appears, just stand straight and fear this giant guy!
