Appearance

Gojo

Gojo is the sensei figure within the Jujutsu Kaisen world. So he has to have a serious look about him. But the case is entirely different. He has a carefree outlook. Towering at the height of 1.9 meters, he looks over his students. And many find him to be extremely attractive.

With a head full of white hair and light blue pearl-like eyes, he stole the heart of many female weebs. But most of the time, Gojo keeps his eyes hidden from the public. In the past, he had bandages wrapped around his eyes. But nowadays, he uses a black blindfold over them.

Gojo

Sometimes he is also seen wearing a pair of black sunglasses instead of the blindfold. (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 19)

Having a well-built body, the most distinct feature that Gojo has is his black blindfold. He has it on almost all the time. As for his dress-up, he wears several casual attires. While on duty as a Shaman or a Teacher, he has his high-neck full sleeve jacket. He also wears a pair of matching pants and dark boots.

As a child, Gojo is seen to be in a baggy full sleeve jacket. But instead of the dark and moody attire, the coat he wears as a child is white. Though it was supposed to make him look approachable, his arrogant attitude creates an oppressive air around him. The white full-sleeve paired with black shorts gives him an adult look despite being a five-year-old kid. (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 96)

Gojo Glasses

He loves wearing full-sleeved shirts and slacks. Most of his casual attires are of a similar pattern. He simply loves this style. In fact, he loves it so much that he wears long-sleeved hoodies to the beach!!! But fortunately, he wears black swimming trunks instead of full pants while on the beach.

With an all-black attire over his white skin, he gives off an official vibe. And the most important thing is, he has the attitude and ability to back his look.

Personality

Gojo

Though the appearance of Gojo gives off a carefree vibe, his personality is not of that sort. Only the word “complex” can fully describe his personality. When with his students, he has a lighthearted vibe. He is playful towards them. Instead of a teacher, he is more like an elder brother to them. A similar vibe can be seen when he is with his friends and close colleagues. But when he is around sorcerer executives, this vibe takes a hundred and eighty-degree turn.

To them, he is cruel and unsympathetic. He has an IDGAF attitude when dealing with anyone he doesn’t consider a friend. The best example of this is his attitude towards Kyoto Jujutsu High Principal, Gakuganji Yoshinobu. His utter disrespect towards Gakuganji proved that he doesn’t care what others think about him. (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 18)

Gojo on Insects

If you are his enemy, oooh boy, are you in for a treat (a sour one, mind you). He thinks his enemies to be insects, be it a cursed spirit or a human who dared to offend him. Such an attitude might seem unjust and baseless, but that is not the case.

Satoru is claimed to be the strongest Shaman or Sorcerer to ever live within the Jujutsu world. This title of being the strongest was not given to him, but he claimed it. And he has the power to claim such a title. He is confident in his reputation and skills. And believing himself to be invincible, he puts on an arrogant attitude whenever he is in a fight. He is so arrogant that he judges people based on their strength. And if you are on the weak side, you automatically get “the trash” treatment from him.

Gojo vs Toji

His strong desire for power made him believe that he was the strongest, but he was not careless. In his faceoff against Toji Fushiguro, he arrogantly claims it. Gojo said, and I quote, “Throughout the Heavens and earth, I alone am the honored one.” This verse alone is enough to show his arrogant nature. (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 75)

Such an arrogant nature is further seen when he is tasked with the protection of Riko Amanai. Riko was a “weak” individual but one of the few who Gojo acknowledged. He had certain compassion for Riko, but that compassion vanished after her death. His pride completely wiped off this compassion after perfecting the Reverse Cursed Technique.

jougo vs gojo

While invested in fights, Gojo has a tendency of falling into a frenzy. This frenzied state is induced by his strong urge for victory. Such a state further solidifies his claim as the strongest. His aggressive combat style is filled with oppressive attacks and flashy techniques. He doesn’t hesitate, flaunting his aggressiveness at his opponents.

But all this aggressiveness comes with a certain level of cold-bloodedness. When in a fight, the only thing he cares about is utterly destroying his opposition. He doesn’t give a damn about who that person is. And if these fights create a moment where he has to decide between saving an innocent life or destroying his enemy, he would choose the latter without a beat.

Gojo Angry

However, this cold-blooded attitude has a limit. If in a fight, the sacrifice of an innocent life gives him an upper hand, he would not choose to do so. He does believe that if a sacrifice is necessary to destroy the opponent, it is unavoidable. But he will never go out of his way and kill the innocent. He might harm them but will never inflict lasting injuries or take their life. He believes that if the life of an innocent gives him an upper hand in the fight, then he is not strong enough.

Because of his haughtiness, one might think he is a curse himself. But Satoru’s skills and actions are more human than they seem to be. When Gojo exacted his revenge on Toji because of Riko’s murder, he returned to retrieve Riko’s body. While doing so, Gojo had an expression filled with sorrow. Though he was acting arrogant after defeating Toji, his excitement died down when he saw the corpse of the one he was supposed to protect. (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 76)

Gojo vs Toji

This scene clarified the point that Gojo is more “humane” than he shows. And it was this kind yet revengeful personality that helped him attain the title of the strongest. His grief of Riko’s death erased all the joy of victory. And after he realized his state, he wanted to destroy the Star Religious Cult.

He would have done so if not for Suguru Geto. Geto was the moral compass that helped Gojo guide his anger. Gojo had undoubted trust in Geto, and it was this trust that devastated him when Geto became a murderous curse user.

Gojo And Geto

Gojo has a “don’t care” vibe to him, but he was visibly shaken when he found out about Geto. But he accepted the reality, and this made him more skeptical. But it was this trauma of losing his best friend that caused the downfall of Shibuya.

All these betrayals and losses made Gojo solidify his aim of reforming the Jujutsu World. And with this aim as the basis, he became a teacher, for he believes the next generation would be much better than the current, and he wants to lead these new sorcerers to the right path by teaching them to be his equal.

Strength And Skills

Gojo was destined to be the strongest shaman ever to exist even before he reached the pinnacle of his power. Within the Gojo family, Satoru was destined to be a special class shaman because of his Six Eyes. These eyes didn’t make him the strongest but helped him secure his position among the best. That is why up until his fight with Toji, he was considered to be on the same level as Geto. But a year after that, he became powerful enough to take on three Special Grade Curses all by himself.

In terms of skill level, Satoru is classed as a Special Grade Sorcerer, but he is not like other regular special grades. He has almost an infinite amount of curse energy and extremely powerful techniques to utilize that energy. It’s this innate skill of his that sets him on the top among the Special Grades, earning him the title of the Strongest.

gojo

During their 2nd year as Jujutsu High students, Satoru and Suguru were considered “the strongest.” In front of them, even the most experienced and powerful Curse users were childsplay. They had similar levels, but after Satoru’s awakening, things changed. In fact, Satoru is so powerful that when he was born, the power balance within the Jujutsu World shifted dramatically. (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 96)

Though Suguru Geto was within a similar power level as Gojo, he was far from his former friend. According to Geto, Gojo has the power to wipe out humanity from the face of the earth entirely.

He is so strong that even the higher-ups of the Jujutsu World fear him. And it was that fear of Gojo that helped Yuta Okkotsu and Itadori Yuji survive. Gojo himself stated that he could easily overthrow the Jujutsu Society singlehandedly, but still, he wants to reform them by helping the new generation.

jogo vs gojo

Among the Special Grade curses, he faced off against Jogo and defeated him all while babysitting Itadori. And the best thing is he didn’t even use thirty percent of his power. During the Shibuya incident, he faced off against the entire Kenjaku group

This group of Special Grade Cursed spirits was the most powerful among the cursed spirits. Yet, they were afraid to do a full-frontal assault against Gojo. While against Jogo, Satoru overpowered him and was almost about to exorcise him before Hanami butted in and saved Jogo. But during the Shibuya case, Gojo not only fought against the entire group but also completely exorcised Hanami. (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 85)

The only reason Gojo was “defeated” by the Kenjaku group was not because he was overpowered but tricked. The group was fully prepared with a plan of sealing Gojo, but still, they lost one of their powerful members. If not for his past with Geto, Gojo would still be running around exorcising the Special Grades as if it was child’s play.

Gojo

All these feats show Gojo’s power level, but it’s just the tip of the iceberg. As the strongest sorcerer, he has a ton of extraordinary skills. In fact, it was stated by the author himself that Satoru Gojo has “limitless” potential, and he can develop almost any skill he needs in the nick of time. But here are some of the prominent skills.

Gojo Past Arc

Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant

Satoru, along with his cursed energy and techniques, has immense martial art knowledge. He has enough skills to overpower the Special Grade curse Jogo in hand-to-hand combat.

Moreover, he can utilize his techniques at minute levels, which gives him a tremendous boost while in hand-to-hand combat. It was this skillful execution that let him face both Jogo and Hanami with only a physical fight. He is swift, precise, and devastating in terms of martial arts.

jogo vs gojo

Overwhelming Strength

As a supplement to his martial arts, Gojo has tremendous physical strength. His punches alone were sufficient enough in injuring Jogo. He bare handedly ripped out Jogos head when he 1st fought him. And later on in Shibuya, Gojo ripped off Jogo’s hand

He casually pulled out Hanami’s roots with sheer physical strength. Also in Shibuya, he was also able to behead a thousand transfigured humans within seconds. (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 90)

jougo vs gojo

Immense Speed

In terms of speed, there hasn’t been another character that can match Gojo yet. He is fast enough to leave in the middle of his fight with Jogo, go to Jujutsu High, take Itadori, and rejoin the fight within seconds.

The distance he traveled was approximately 15 kilometers, and he crossed it twice. Making it a distance of roughly 30 kilometers covered within the timespan of Jogo activating his Domain. So yeah, Gojo is incredibly fast. (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 15)

Gojo vs Toji

Quick Reflexes

To complement his immense physical speed, he has swift reflexes. Without a reflex that could process the data he received when moving fast, he would have been useless. This does damage his brain as his brain is still that of a human. But he reverses the damage thanks to his Reversed Technique.

Gojo

Tactical Intellect

Satoru has a playful and carefree attitude almost all the time. But this doesn’t mean that he doesn’t make plans or think tactically. In fact, he can figure out his opponents’ actions and its causes with the least amount of information. It doesn’t matter if his enemy suddenly changes their style or if they tag out; he can adapt almost instantaneously

Again, the best example of his tactical ability should be his fight against Hanami, Choso, Jogo, and Mahito during the Shibuya incident. In that fight, he was constantly forced against a wall, but he overcame them. He did all these while fighting at insane speed and keeping civilian and property damage to a minimum.

Maki Zenin

Weapon Proficiency

Though Satoru prefers hand-to-hand combat, he doesn’t lack in the department of weapon handling. He is not an expert in using them, but he knows how to wield them in an emergency. Despite being an expert in martial arts, he still taught himself the skills of using weapons in a fight. He did so, thinking that it might come in handy. In his battle against Toji, Gojo is shown to be able to wield a sword. Other than that, he has also been trained to use nunchucks, staffs, whips, and arrows.

Whether he is proficient with firearms or not is still unknown. But knowing Gojo, he might be a pro in it. He is also well versed in Cursed Tools. When Itadori first joined Jujutsu High, Gojo lent him a Cursed Blade. Though Gojo borrowed it from Maki, he knew about its effects. His knowledge about Cursed Tools is mainly to be able to counter them instead of using them.

Gojo Domain Expansion

Almost Infinite Cursed Energy

Among all the Cursed Technique users that have been introduced in the anime and manga, Satoru Gojo has the most amount of Cursed Energy. He is strongest in the Jujutsu society not because of his techniques alone. Yeah, his techniques are over-the-top powerful and almost omnipotent, but they also require over-the-top Cursed Energy when used. But for Gojo, it is no issue. He has enough Cursed Energy to spam his abilities left and right.

One example of his vast energy is that he can use his Domain Expansion more than once a day, whereas other Sorcerers are limited to a single use a day. Controllability of this immense cursed energy would have been an issue if it was anyone other than Gojo. He is so tuned with the cursed energy that he can activate his Domain for a split second. Such accuracy and cursed energy economy are only possible due to his next ability.

Gojo

Teleportation

As the name suggests, this technique is one that uses Cursed Energy to teleport a person or objects. It is not an innate ability, so most of the Jujutsu Sorcerers are able to use it.

As the strongest Sorcerer, it goes without a saying that Gojo has mastered this ability. Though the main story hasn’t shown any use of this ability, in the prequel story, Gojo is shown using this technique to send Toge and Panda back to Jujutsu High, for he was able to find Geto’s hidden intent. But this ability cannot do exact teleportation on someone or something if the target destination is covered in a Curtain or has a Barrier around it.

In such a case, the person or object is teleported to the outer edge of the Curtain in question. (Jujutsu Kaisen 0-3: The Punishment for Being Weak)

Six Eyes Jujutsu Kaisen

Six Eyes

The eyes that Satoru possesses are gorgeous, and it’s a fact. But these are not for show. His eyes are unique as it helps Gojo use the Six Eyes ability. However, much isn’t known about it yet. But it has been confirmed that they allow Gojo to use his Curse Energy in the most efficient manner.

These eyes are an innate ability that the Gojo family passes on to their descendants. But that doesn’t mean that anyone born within the family will possess one. Satoru is one of the rare individuals who was not only born with it but was also able to harness its true power.

Six Eyes

According to Yuta, the actual value of Six Eyes is lessening the consumption of Cursed Energy. It can diminish it infinitesimally and make it so that Gojo’s flashy techniques cost almost nothing.

It is a vital part of Satoru’s arsenal as it makes sure that he never runs out of cursed energy. But it is still unclear whether it reduces the Curse Energy cost or just uses the available energy with utmost efficiency.

gojo satoru anime

Other than the reduction ability, his eyes also let him sense Curse Energy. Due to these eyes, Gojo can perceive the Curse Energy flowing around much better than any other sorcerer. This way, he can notice if there is any change and act accordingly. They also allow him to measure a person or spirit’s Cursed Energy.

In fact, it is due to these “eyes” that he uses a blindfold most of the time. That blindfold helps him perceive his surroundings much better than when he simply sees things.

Gojo Reverse Cursed Technique

Reverse Cursed Technique

Cursed techniques are there to hurt while the reverse of it is used to heal. Only a few sorcerers can use this technique, and Gojo is among them. After his first fight with Toji Fushiguro, Gojo was near his deathbed, and it was at that moment he unlocked the Technique. When he unlocked this Technique, it opened a whole new gate for Satoru’s growth.

Gojo Ability

By itself, the Reverse Cursed Technique allows Gojo to heal himself. This is the reason why he can maintain Infinity around him at all times. But it also helped him add Red and Hollow Purple to his arsenal. (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 76)

Gojo Red

Though Gojo can heal himself from any mortal wounds, he can’t use it to heal others. Among the Reverse Cursed Technique users, only Sukuna and Shoko are shown to have the ability to heal others. But even among the handful of Reverse users, Satoru is the only one who can use it to reverse the effects of an existing technique. It may not be as good as healing others, but it is OP as hell.

Black Flash

Black Flash

A regular Cursed punch will cause the physical and Cursed Energy impact simultaneously. But if the Cursed Energy impact occurs within 0.000001 seconds of the physical hit, then it will cause a spatial distortion. And this distortion will cause the Cursed Energy to turn into Black Flash.

The flash is not just for show as it takes a regular punch and makes it 2.5 times more powerful. Gojo, as the strongest, is undoubtedly able to use it, but the number of times he can execute this power move is still to be revealed.

Gojo Limitless

Limitless

Within the Gojo family, Limitless is an innate technique. It grants the wielder absolute control over space. And this control is granted due to the fact that this technique allows the user to manipulate Cursed Energy at an atomic level. Satoru inherently possesses this ability and mastered it to its extreme.

gojo satoru anime

Though the base of this technique is space manipulation, it can do way more than that. There are mainly three traditional forms of this technique which are known to all within and outside the Gojo family. But there is also an irregular or “non-standard” form whose only known user is Satoru Gojo himself.

Gojo Infinity

Infinity

The ability to stop – that’s what the skill description of Infinity would say if it were a power card. It is the neutral and one of the standard forms of Limitless. Everyone thinks that the power of Infinity is to stop anything, but it actually slows down things. Satoru uses this ability almost all the time. It is more like an invisible barrier around Satoru which can control the speed of anything that approaches him.

Gojo Explaining Infinity

According to Gojo, anything that approaches him is slowed down as per the paradox of Achilles and the tortoise. As per the paradox, the finite distance between Satoru and the object has an infinite amount of finite divisions. Those finite parts again have an endless number of finite divisions and so on. So the space between the object and Satoru will never reach zero and thus will never touch him. But bear in mind the object in question must contain some form of Cursed Energy.

So far, nothing has penetrated Gojo’s Infinity other than the Inverted Spear of Heaven wielded by Toji and the Domain Amplification used by Hanami and Jogo in Shibuya. (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 84)

Gojo

Another aspect that sets Satoru’s Infinity apart from other users is that he can decide on what can approach him at what speed. If something is harmless, then it won’t be stopped abruptly but gradually slowed down. But if anything with enough cursed energy to harm Gojo appears, it is stopped almost immediately.

When he developed this technique, he planned on being able to identify poisonous objects too. Whether he can do so or not is yet to be known.

gojo

Blue

The second standard form of Limitless is Blue. It is a reinforced and condensed version of the neutral form. It creates a vacuum within the space that sucks in everything. By amplifying the Limitless with negative energy, this vacuum is formed, and it works like a black hole. Instead of a vacuum, it’s more like the world trying to converge to the point of origin to correct itself and fill up the negative space.

Gojo

This causes all the matter in range to rush to the commanded space. If Satoru wants, he can intensify this pull and create a center of gravity within a determined space. He can also manipulate the point of origin and intensity of the pull to do controlled destruction.

Gojo Red

Red

The final standard form of Limitless is the opposite of the first, and it’s called Red. This ability is the opposite of Blue in the sense that it pushes or repels things away instead of pulling them close. If Blue is the convergence of Infinity, then Red is the divergence.

Gojo Red Technique

When used, it causes a colossal repulsion force. Though this technique is opposite to Blue, it still uses negative energy instead of positive. But as a Cursed User, getting positive energy is nigh impossible. For this, Gojo takes his negative energy and multiplies it with more negative energy, and bam, he gets positive energy for using Red. It might seem useless, but it has twice the destructive potential of Blue.

Gojo Ability

Hollow Purple

This is a non-standard technique that only Satoru uses. Well, to be exact, no other users of this form of Limitless are yet to be introduced. This “Satoru only” technique utilizes both the Blue and Red forms to the singularity that can obliterate anything it touches.

Gojo Hollow Purple

To use it, Gojo snaps his fingers which combines the Repulsion of Red and Attraction of Blue and creates space that SHIFT+DEL everything in its path. This technique is the most OP technique that has been shown in Jujutsu World. Moreover, the Hollow Purple technique is so secretive that only a few within the Gojo family knows about its existence.

Curtain

Curtain

Similar to most other sorcerers, Gojo can also create Barriers or Curtains that cover a certain area. These barriers mainly help in minimizing the number of witnesses. But they can also be cast with a condition attached to them. And knowing Gojo’s skill level, he is sure to be able to create barriers with multiple conditions to them.

Gojo Domain Expansion

Unlimited Void

The ultimate move of any Sorcerer is their Domain Expansion. In the case of Gojo, the Domain Expansion he uses is called Unlimited Void. Unlike most other Domains, this one is not over the top offensive. In fact, it has zero physical offensive capabilities. Instead of harming the foe physically, this Domain floods the trapped entity’s mind with endless information. This restrains their thought process and actions.

unlimited void

This helps Gojo land his finishing blow with ease. He has precise control over his Domain as he can select the persons on whom it may affect. He can also use it and shut it almost instantly, 0.2 seconds to be precise. This insane control, along with his Six Eyes, lets him use the Unlimited Void multiple times a day, whereas other sorcerers are limited to one.

Gojo's Weaknesses

Being the strongest shaman to ever exist in the history of the Jujutsu World, one might think that Satoru Gojo has zero weaknesses. That is both true and false at the same time. So far in the story of Jujutsu Kaisen, there have been only two incidents where Gojo was truly defeated. So yeah, this overpowered character can be defeated, but it will require some extreme planning.

Gojo vsToji

The first event where Gojo was defeated by his enemies was the Riko incident. And the other case where Gojo was beaten was the Sealing event in Shibuya. Some may argue that he wasn’t “defeated” in Shibuya but sealed but come on, we all know if one’s power is sealed, that person is useless. Based on the story so far, Gojo’s only weaknesses are Inverted Spear of Heaven, Black Rope, Domain Amplification, and Curse Energy Deficiency.

Inverted Spear of Heaven

Inverted Spear of Heaven

Though the name contains the word Spear, this Cursed Tool is a sword. A weird-looking one nonetheless. The appearance of the sword is similar to the letter “J,” where the dimple is elongated. The handle and guard of the blade are normal. This is the only Cursed Tool that has ever been able to hurt Gojo. While fighting Toji, Gojo saw him going for a stab at his neck with the blade but didn’t try to avoid it, believing that his Infinity would block it.

Gojo vs Toji

But that was not the case. That’s because the specialty of this cursed tool is that it can negate any form of Cursed Technique it comes against. As Satoru didn’t know about it, he took the stab upfront, and this almost killed him. But luckily, at that very moment, Gojo was able to learn the Reverse Cursed Technique, which helped him heal his stab wounds.

After the fight with Toji, Gojo took the weapon and disposed of it. Whether he sealed it somewhere or destroyed it is still unclear. But if it still exists, then it is sure to be a hassle as the entire defensive mechanism of Gojo relies heavily on Infinity, and this tool cancels that technique.

Black Rope

Black Rope

Similar to the Inverted Spear of Heaven, the Black Rope is also a Cursed Tool that can not only cancel Cursed Techniques but also disrupt them.

This makes them a powerful tool against any Sorcerer. They made their first appearance not in the main story, but in the prequel of the main manga. But its ability and name were not addressed at all when they first appeared. Later on, the details of its ability were revealed when the Jujutsu High team was looking for ways to free Gojo from the Prison Realm.

Miguel

The Black Rope looks exactly like one would imagine it to be, a black rope. But unlike the Inverted Spear of Heaven, this tool is not a unique one. The family members of Miguel, a Curse User under Geto, made them specifically to counter Gojo. Thus, there are several Black Ropes throughout the Jujutsu World. (Jujutsu Kaisen 0-4: A Bright Darkness)

Miguel vs Gojo

Knowing about the potential threat that they may cause, Gojo took it upon himself to destroy each and every single Black rope within the Jujutsu World. So a future appearance of this Gojo-specific rope within the story is pretty unlikely. But as this rope is able to cancel and disrupt any Cursed Technique, it is very useful against the Sorcerers who rely heavily on their Techniques.

Gojo Domain Amplification

Domain Amplification

Domain Amplification is a variation of the Barrier techniques in the Jujutsu World. As a Barrier can be established, imposing some rules. For example, if a Barrier or Curtain is established where no Non-Sorcerer may enter, then no one outside the Curtain may enter unless they are a Sorcerer or Cursed Spirit. The Domain Expansion ability that most Sorcerer and Cursed Spirit are able to use falls within the Barrier category.

Domain Amplification Gojo

In this Domain, the imposed rule is that the caster will be able to exert their Techniques with utmost efficiency. Similar to this, the Domain Amplification technique is a Barrier that imposes a unique condition. In this case, the condition is that any Cursed Technique used within the Domain will be disrupted.

Jogo and Hanami

Hanami and Jogo use this technique to hurt Gojo during the Shibuya incident. They used the same conditions but made the affected area small. This was done as the Barrier Techniques usually become stronger when its effect is limited or specified or when the users themselves are at risk. They used their Domain Amplification only around their body. This drastically reduced the effective area and made the Barrier extremely powerful.

So when they went for Gojo, his Infinity was deactivated, and he got hit. It is an OP technique but has a severe downside. While using Domain Amplification, the user himself can’t use any Cursed Techniques. Gojo was only able to survive because he was able to find this weakness and made Hanami deactivate the Domain.

Cursed Energy Deficiency

Curse Energy Deficiency

Now, this is a weakness for all Sorcerers. If the Curse Energy that a Sorcerer possesses depletes to a certain point, they will be unable to use their Cursed Techniques. Among all the characters that have been introduced in the story, Yuta Okkotsu has the highest amount of Cursed Energy, whereas Maki Zenin has zero Cursed Energy.

In the case of Gojo, the amount of Cursed Energy that he possesses is not the highest, but it is above average. But what enables him to use flashy Cursed Techniques is his Six Eyes. It makes it so that Cursed Energy used is diminished drastically.

Toji

But Gojo was not able to use it all the time. In fact, prolonged use of Infinity drained him way too much. To recover his used Energy, he had to turn off the Infinity and let his brain rest. Otherwise, his brain would have melted a long time ago. Toji took advantage of this and was able to land a sneak attack on Gojo at the start of their fight.

This was a serious weakness, but Gojo was able to overcome it due to his Reverse Cursed Technique. Once he unlocked it, he was able to maintain Infinity 24/7. It was because he could repair any damage to his mental health instantly.

Jujutsu High

Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical College

As a Jujutsu Sorcerer, Satoru was a student of Jujutsu High along with Geto. He loved the place as it allowed him to become stronger. Later on, when he graduated, he became a teacher in the school to fulfill his dream. He is friendly with his students and colleagues. He sees the school, not as a simple teaching institution but a place where he can train up his soldiers.

Gojo Childhood

Gojo Family

As the name Satoru Gojo suggests, he is a member of the Gojo Family. And from what the story suggests, he is one of the essential members. The Gojo Family being one of the Big Three Families, are the descendants of Michizane Sugawara

In the current story, Satoru alone has been shown to be a member of the Gojo family. Even though Yuta Okkotsu is a distant relative of his, he is not considered to be a member of the Gojo family. The overpowered combo of Limitless and Six Eyes that helped Satoru become the best of the best is a concrete sign that he is a member of the Gojo Family as both these Techniques are their families’ inherent techniques.

Satoru Gojo

Satoru doesn’t go around cursing his family’s name or authority. Such an act is concrete evidence that he is not on bad terms with them. In fact, it is solely due to Satoru’s strength that the Gojo Family is still one of the Big Three Families. But Satoru does take advantage of this authority if it is beneficial to his dreams of gathering the strong.

This case can clearly be seen in the case of Yuta and Yuji’s execution. Both of these executions were postponed because of the Gojo Family and Satoru’s influence.

Zenin Clan

Zenin Family

Apart from Megumi and Maki, Gojo doesn’t have any tight connection with any other Zenin Family members. Similar to the Gojo Family, the Zenin Family is also one of the Big Threes. But their ideology is entirely different. They believed that the value of an individual depends on the Cursed Technique they used. This leads to them ostracizing those who don’t possess any significant Technique. Naobito Zenin, the family head, upheld such problematic ideals prior to Megumi.

He believed only male Sorcerers deserve to be part of the Zenin Family, and for that, he openly criticized Maki and Mai. Such a characteristic and rule set made their acts questionable. This made their relationship with the Gojo Family shaky and, in turn, put them on the wrong side of Satoru

The 26th head of Zenin Clan, Naobito Zenin is a 71 years old man with a straight mustache and an intimidating overall vibe. Even though he lost one of his arms while fighting another cursed spirit, Naobito is still capable enough to be the Zenin clan's head.

From Satoru’s point of view, the entire Zenin Family is flawed. And for that, he wants to help and reform them. But he is not going to reform them directly. Instead, he wants to change the head of the family. With this in mind, Satoru took Megumi and Maki under his wings.

This made him such an eyesore to Naobito that he exclaimed his dissatisfaction about saving Gojo during the Shibuya incident, even if it meant that the entirety of Tokyo becomes Curse infested.

Noritoshi Kamo

Kamo Family

The last of the Big Three Families is the Kamo Family. Similar to the Zenin Family, the Kamos’ also prioritize inherent techniques. But unlike the Zenin, they also prioritize their own bloodline. Due to this, Satoru is not as pissed off with them as he is with the Zenin’s. In fact, he is even willing to help them as long as they don’t cross his path.

Noratoshi Kamo

One example of this is when Gojo helps Noritoshi Kamo during the Goodwill event. Prior to the face-off between Tokyo Jujutsu High and Kyoto Jujutsu High, even though they were on opposite ends, Gojo helped him with a few tips.

Noritoshi is able to use the inherent technique of Kamo’s Blood Manipulation. It is praised as the best-balanced technique and is perfectly suited for them. But this pride in their technique made them too reliant on it. Thus Gojo advised Noritoshi not to be too dependent on Blood Manipulation and instead hone his physical abilities.

Noritoshi Kamo

The only other Kamo family member introduced to the story is also called Noritoshi Kamo, but he is not a student of the Kyoto Jujutsu High but the biggest blight on the Big Three Families. He was a powerful Sorcerer about a thousand years back, but he is the evilest Sorcerer in Jujutsu History. He is hated by all for his human experiments and other acts.

Gojo had no prior encounters with him and thus had no concrete feeling about his misdoings. But during the Shibuya Incident, he found out that Geto, his former best friend’s body, had been possessed by Noritoshi Kamo of the past.

This infuriated Gojo, but at the same time, he was calm. As he was under the effects of the Prison Realm, he was unable to fight against Noritoshi. But he swore to take vengeance for his former friend once he came out of the Prison Realm.

Inumaki's Background

Inumaki Family

Unlike the Big Three Families, the Inumaki Family is not related to the Three Great Vengeful Spirits. This makes them one of the minor families in the Jujutsu World. For this, they are not as influential as the other three but have enough influence to manipulate execution orders. Satoru is particularly fond of the Inumaki Family for they, similar to the Gojo Family, believe in the potential of an individual regardless of their bloodline.

Toge Inumaki Wiki

The only Inumaki Family member introduced in the story is Toge Inumaki. He was a student of Satoru along with Yuta during their first year in the Jujutsu High. Due to this, it is safe to say that Satoru trusts Toge to the point of teaching him. Though this doesn’t hint at how Gojo and the Inumaki Family’s relations are, it can be said that it’s not as bad as the Zenin or Kamo.

Tokyo Jujutsu High Students

Jujutsu High First-years

Gojo’s relation with his students from Jujutsu High is not that of a teacher and student but a senpai and kouhai (junior).

He doesn’t think of this as his burden but as future colleagues who will fight alongside him. With this aim in mind, he always tries to push his students to their limits.

Gojo's Relationships

Yuta Okkotsu

Yuta Okkotsu

Yuta is a third-year student within the Jujutsu High and a Special Grade Sorcerer. He is a direct student of Satoru. Similar to Itadori, Satoru saved Yuta from execution. Gojo and Yuta have a relationship that exceeds the relationship between a teacher and student.

yuta okkotsu

That is because Yuta is a distant relative of Gojo, and more than that, he is also a fellow Special Grade Sorcerer. Gojo is fond of all of his students, but he is a bit biased towards Yuta. So much so that he trusts him with the protection of Itadori if something were to happen to him. They trust each other and will always have each other’s back. (Jujutsu Kaisen 0-1: The Cursed Child)

? Question mark ? unknown

Michizane Sugawara

This character has not appeared in the story but was only mentioned in the prequel series titled Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High. He was a Legendary Jujutsu Sorcerer from the Heian Era. But after his death, he became one of the Three Great Vengeful Spirits of the Japanese Jujutsu World.

Due to his Legendary status, his descendants are considered special. They are the ones who form up the Gojo family. Satoru seems to respect Michizane. But whether he respects him as the ancestor or just respects him because he was strong is still unclear. No interaction between Satoru and Michizane has been shown yet. Thus the terms of their relationship are still vague.

Itadori Yuji

Itadori Yuji

Even after eating Sukuna’s finger, Yuji was able to escape execution only because of Gojo. If not for him, Yuji would have been executed the moment he ate the finger. At first, Yuji and Gojo had a normal student and teacher relationship, but over time that changed a lot.

itadori

He cares for Yuji, and Yuji has immense respect for Gojo. From Yuji’s point of view, the strong only have the right to decide how they perish, and Gojo is the strongest. So he wants to be like him to make sure to fulfill the promise he made to his Grandpa.

Megumi Fushiguro

Megumi Fushiguro

Gojo, after his fight with Toji Fushiguro, learned about the existence of Megumi. It was the dying request of Toji to Gojo to protect Megumi from the Zenin clan. When Gojo investigated Megumi, he found out that Toji sold his son to the Zenin clan to save his own hide and also protect him. But Megumi was never going to be genuinely safe under the Zenin clan, and thus Toji asked Gojo to help his son.

Megumi

Out of curiosity, Gojo reached out to the young Megumi and helped him and his sister under the name of Jujutsu High. Gojo did all this not because it was Toji’s last wish but because it was what Megumi himself wanted. And this gave birth to a sense of debt in Megumi. But Gojo never thought of Megumi to be indebted to him but in fact, wants to train Megumi to the point that he and Megumi could see eye to eye in terms of skill and power.

Nobara

Nobara Kugisaki

In terms of relationships, Gojo and Nobara aren’t as connected as you would compare to Yuji, Megumi and the others. This is because Nobara wasn’t picked up by Gojo but she herself applied for Tokyo Jujutsu High. That also doesn’t mean that Gojo is not fond of Nobara. They have a classic teacher-student relationship and sometimes they even have the same dumb and exciting attitude.

Maki Zenin

Maki Zenin

Maki was considered a failure in her family. For that, the Zenin family exiled her and cut all ties with her. But she swore to come back powerful enough to become the head of the family. When nobody gave her a chance, it was Gojo who believed in her.

Maki Zen'in

Not only that, but he also helped her utilize her inability to use Cursed Energy to the max. But Gojo only believed in Maki because he thought that she had the potential to reach the power level that Toji Fushiguro was able to attain. He also wanted to show the Zenin Family that strength is not limited to Curse Techniques.

riko amanai death

Riko Amanai

Gojo hates the weak, but it was a different case for Riko Amanai. In her case, Gojo developed a soft corner. She was the very first “weak” character that Gojo showed compassion for.

He genuinely cared for her. So much so that he was willing to go against Master Tengen just so she would be able to stay alive instead of becoming the vessel for the merger. But he was unable to protect her, and that infuriated him. After her death he wanted to get rid of the entire Star Religious Cult but backed off.

Suguru Geto

Suguru Geto

The only best friend that Satoru ever had was Suguru. Both of them were considered to be the strongest until Gojo unlocked the Reversed Cursed Technique. Gojo not only thought of Geto as a friend but also a moral compass. That is why when Geto betrayed the Jujutsu World, Gojo was devastated. He could never take it upon himself to seek and punish Geto for his crime because despite hating Geto, Gojo still thought of him as a friend and Gojo will never harm his friends.

Geto's cursed energy

This inability is seen much clearly when Gojo refuses to deliver the final blow on Geto when Yuta had already defeated him to the point of no return. (Jujutsu Kaisen 0-4: A Bright Darkness)

Plot/Storyline

Gojo

As one of the core characters within the Jujutsu Kaisen storyline, the importance of Satoru is immense. He is the reason why Itadori Yuji had a delayed execution. He is powerful enough to sway the verdicts and orders presented by the higher-ups within the Jujutsu World. In fact, his mere existence makes the Special Grade Cursed Spirits shake in fear.

Without his interference, the host of Sukuna, Itadori Yuji, would have been executed in the 1st episode of the anime and the 3rd chapter of the Manga. And if that happened, we would be following Megumi Fushiguro instead.

Gojo and Yuta

Another act of his influence on the plot is during the story of Jujutsu Kaisen 0. He was also the one who halted Yuta’s execution. This not only added a powerful character to the plot, but also entirely shaped the story. If not for Yuta, all the events in the manga would not have happened.

Even though that storyline may seem irrelevant to the main one, it has already been shown that it was because of the fight between Geto and Yuta that Noritoshi was able to possess Geto’s body.

He is able to single-handedly topple the entire Jujutsu world and build it anew. But he doesn’t resort to violence, for he believes in the next generation and wants to build a world where there are no more Cursed Spirits left unchecked.

Gojo_Prison-Realm-1

The whole Shibuya incident took place so that the Cursed Spirits could seal him, for the Spirits believed that the only way to make their plan fruitful was to seal Satoru and befriend Sukuna. But while sealing Satoru, the Spirits lost all their power which changed the course of history. Though he is sealed right now, he is sure to return.

He also played a vital role in the upbringing of Megumi. He was the reason why the Zenin Family, one of the Big Three, backed off from their deal of buying Megumi from Toji and making him the heir of the Zenin household.

Gojo

As a sensei of the Jujutsu Sorcerers in Jujutsu High, he has the most unorthodox teaching manner, but his style of teaching is the most effective. For instance, to teach Itadori about Curse Energy control, he didn’t do any convoluted strategy but simply asked him to watch some movies. Well, all while he was releasing cursed energy, and if he stopped, a doll would hit him with all its might.

It is clear that Satoru Gojo is directly or indirectly related to all the significant events that take place within the Jujutsu World. He loves being a show-off and wants to be the center of attention, and guess what, the plot lets him be so. In terms of plot device, Satoru is only second to Itadori (he is the main protagonist, duh). Despite him being a super overpowered character, if not for him, the story of Jujutsu Kaisen would have been a boring one.

Satoru Gojo Facts

  • According to the author, Gojo has zero hobbies.
  • He hates alcohol but loves anything that is sweet.
  • His sweet tooth started when he consumed a huge amount of Takoyaki to stimulate his brain.
  • The author also stated that Satoru Gojo could do anything he puts his mind into making his growth potential “Limitless” (get it).
  • Gojo loves everything related to the famous anime Digimon.
  • He geeks out the moment someone mentions Digimon.
  • Both his English and Japanese voice actors have voiced Digimon characters.
  • Principal Yaga and Gojo have a student-teacher relationship.
  • Riko is the only Non-Shaman that Gojo ever grew compassionate about.
  • Gojo would have massacred the Star Religious Cult if not for Geto.
  • Even though Gojo had the chance to finish off Geto after Yuta fought him, he could not do so because he still thinks of Geto as his best friend.

Gojo's Past/History

Gojo Childhood

Since birth, Satoru Gojo has been feared not only by Cursed Spirits but also by other Cursed Users. The Cursed Spirits feared his power while the Cursed Users feared his potential. The reason behind their fear was because he possessed both the Limitless technique and the Six Eyes.

Both of these techniques are innate to the Gojo Family. What makes these pairs of techniques overpowered is their compatibility. The Limitless technique is the most powerful in terms of offense but has one innate weakness. All the Cursed Techniques that are derived from Limitless use way too much Cursed Energy. But this weakness can be negated by Gojo due to Six Eyes.

Gojo Domain Expansion

This pair of techniques is so powerful that the last person who had both of them was not only the Gojo family head but also made the Gojo family one of the Big Three Families within the Jujutsu World. And fearing this potential overpowering nature, the other influential Sorcerer Families set a bounty on Satoru’s head. As a result, Satoru had a bounty of over a hundred thousand dollars on his head at the mere age of five.

But this was no issue for him because he was truly overpowered. The Curse Users who made a living off of using their Cursed Techniques for illegal stuff took up the bounty offer. But let alone claiming Satoru’s head, they were too afraid even to approach him. When they approached Satoru with the intention of stalking his daily routes, they instantly felt a chill run down their spine. A simple stare from Satoru was enough to fend off small-time Curse Users. Not only that, but the Cursed Spirits are also afraid of approaching him.

Gojo

Because of his Six Eyes, Satoru is able to notice the slightest change in Cursed Energy around him. So whenever any Curse User or Cursed Spirit tried to approach him, he would notice them instantaneously. As everyone was afraid of him, he developed an arrogant attitude.

He always did and still does thinks that he is the best Sorcerer that has ever walked the face of the earth. This pride has fueled his thirst for power and allowed him to attain power beyond his wildest dreams. Due to this arrogant attitude, there were only a few that Satoru thought to be his equal.

Among the ones he thought of as his equal, Suguru Geto was the most important. Gojo thought of Geto to not only be his equal but also his best friend. That is why when Geto betrayed the Jujutsu World, Gojo was the one who was most hurt. And this pain built the current Satoru Gojo that we see in the story.

Gojo vsToji

Another turning point in Gojo’s life was during the Star Plasma Vessel escort mission. While escorting Riko Amanai, the Star Plasma Vessel, he grew fond of her. Even though Riko was weak, he cared for her and wanted to save her. But due to the overuse of Cursed Energy, he let his guard down. Seeing this opportunity, Toji didn’t waste a single moment and attacked him. That was the first time ever when Gojo fell prey to a surprise attack (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter 65-79).

But that moment was one of the most critical moments in his life. It was due to the defeat at Toji’s hand that he was able to unlock his true potential, the Reverse Curse Technique. This not only boosted his offensive capabilities but made him literally untouchable as he was now able to maintain his Infinity all day around.

When he discovered that Riko was dead, Gojo was devastated. He wanted to save Riko, even if it meant going against Master Tengen. But he was unable to save her, and this infuriated him. He wanted to kill the entire Star Religious Cult but stopped himself from doing so. That’s because, at that point, Geto acted as his moral compass and helped Gojo redirect his anger and establish a goal of reforming the Jujutsu Society (Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter 65-79).

Background/Synopsis

Gojo Childhood

Gojo’s Past Arc

(Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 65-79)

Being born on the 7th of December of 1989, Gojo was a special kid within the Jujutsu World. The power balance of the world shifted drastically when he was born. The Cursed Spirits were afraid of approaching him, while the Curse Users were afraid of his potential.

The Big Three Sorcerer Families were afraid of the future events, and for that, they set a bounty on his head. But the bounty hunters who took it upon themselves to dispose of Gojo, faced a wall that they could never cross. Let alone cross, they were afraid even to approach it. This caused many Curse Users to go into hiding.

Gojo

All this turned Gojo into an arrogant prick who only found value in the strong. To him, the weak have no right to oppose the strong. And for that, the only best friend he had was Geto, his classmate during his Student period in Jujutsu High. Other than Geto, he was also close with Shoko, Mei Mei, and Utahime.

Gojo was friendly with others, but he especially respected Geto. That is because, from Gojo’s point of view, Geto was the only individual in Jujutsu High who could go head to head against him. This duo was considered the strongest, and both of them were Special Grade Sorcerers despite being second-year students.

Though both of them were classmates, they never saw eye to eye. While Gojo believed that the weak should obey the strong, Geto was firm on the concept that the strong should protect the vulnerable. They had serious arguments about it to the point that a fight broke out.

Toji

During one such argument, they were about to fight when Masamichi Yaga stopped them and gave them the mission that changed Gojo’s life. They were tasked to deliver a vessel to Master Tengen. To be specific, the vessel was the Star Plasma Vessel called Riko Amanai which was to be used for the merger.

They were tasked to protect Riko against two groups, the Q and the Star Religious Cult. Seeing the severity of the mission and the potential of fighting strong people, Satoru was excited. They headed out immediately only to be confronted by the Q. Both Gojo and Geto made quick work of them and met up with Riko.

The main threat of the mission was the Star Religious Cult. They wanted Riko dead because they believed that Master Tengen would become impure after the merger. For this, they hired Toji Fushiguro. Now Toji was well known within the Jujutsu World not for his Cursed Energy or Technique but for his inability even to use any Techniques.

Gojo vs Toji

This inability to use Cursed Energy made Toji cunning. The bounty on Riko was set by him not to make sure Riko was dead but to make sure that Satoru was exhausted after constantly fighting against the Cursed Bounty Hunters. All this was done because Toji knew that to keep Riko safe, Gojo would have to use his Infinity Technique covering a larger area than only around his body. And this will surely deplete Satoru’s Cursed Energy and also tire him out.

Everything happened according to Toji’s plan, and he was able to sneak up on Satoru. This was the only time in the Jujutsu story when someone sneaked up to Satoru. Not only that, but this was also the first time that a blade wounded Satoru. Seeing this opportunity, Toji took it upon himself to kill Gojo, and for that, he used the Inverted Spear Of Heaven.

Gojo vs Toji

It was a mistake on Toji’s side, for he did stab Gojo in the neck but didn’t finish the job. In the brief period before Gojo’s consciousness faded, he was able to find the hidden power of Reversed Curse Technique. While on his deathbed, Gojo was able to find the secret behind Positive Energy. He was able to decipher that multiplying Cursed Energy with more Cursed Energy gives Positive Energy. And with that Positive Energy, he was finally able to use Reverse Curse Techniques.

With this newfound technique, he was not only able to heal himself but at the same time unlock the full potential of his Limitless Technique. After that, he healed himself and went to look for Toji for a rematch. But when he found him, he found out that Riko was dead. Instead of being sad, Gojo was overjoyed with his newfound power and, like an arrogant prick, was mocking Riko for being weak.

MEgumi Young

After that, he proceeded to kill Toji. In his last breath, Toji had one request to Gojo, and it was to help his son, Megumi, have the life that Megumi wants. Gojo didn’t even consider Toji’s feelings but assured him that he would take care of his son only if Megumi were strong. Then after dealing the final blow, Gojo went to retrieve Riko’s body. And at that point, all the emotions welled up within him.

Gojo wanted to save Riko but failed to do so. And for this failure, he blamed his own weakness. To get rid of the frustration, he wanted to kill all the Star Religious Cult members who were laughing because of Riko’s death but was stopped by Geto.

suguru geto lonely

Though Gojo lost an important part of his life in this mission, he still gained an immense upgrade to his abilities. Due to his Reverse Curse Technique, he was able to maintain Infinity 24/7 and also subconsciously. Moreover, he could keep constant surveillance around him to pick up on any Curse Energy anomaly. He was unable to do all this before as it would have melted his brain, but now he can just heal himself without any issue.

Seeing Gojo’s progress, Geto was happy, but at the same time, he was devastated. Geto betrayed the Jujutsu Protocol and harmed the Non-Sorcerers during one of his missions, and went rogue. For this, Gojo confronted him but couldn’t bring himself to kill Geto. Deep down, Gojo still thinks of Geto as his friend and can’t come to harm him.

Tokyo Jujutsu High Students

At that point, Gojo promises to himself to become a teacher at Jujutsu High. He swore to train his students to the utmost of his ability and build a group of colleagues who he could trust. He wants to make them the best of the best so that he can topple the Jujutsu Society and rebuild it from scratch.

With this in mind, he went to meet Megumi and asked him what he wanted. Seeing that Megumi intends to protect his sister at any cost, Gojo takes him and his sister under his wings. He did this not because of Toji’s request but because he saw the potential within Megumi.

Tsumiki Fushiguro Appearance

Jujutsu Kaisen Manga: Volume 0

Later on, he finds out about Yuta, who was on trial for execution. Yuta was going to be executed because he was possessed by the Special Grade Curse Rika. After talking with Yuta, Gojo found out that Yuta never wanted to hurt anyone with Rika. To make sure of it, he wanted to stay in isolation, and if needed, he was even willing to kill himself. Seeing Yuta’s resolve, Gojo convinced the higher-ups to delay the execution. Not only that, but he also managed to get Yuta admitted to Jujutsu High. There Yuta was finally able to control Rika and was able to fight off Geto, who wanted to kill Yuta and take control of the Special Grade Rika.

Suguru Geto

During the fight, Geto was gravely injured and was fleeing. While fleeing, Gojo found him, and they had a friendly chat. But even at that point, Gojo was unable to deliver the killing blow, but he also didn’t help him.

Finally, he went back and met up with his students Yuta, Maki, Toge, and Panda. It was then that it was revealed that Yuta was actually a distant relative of Gojo and also a descendant of Michizane Sugawara, one of the Big Three Vengeful Spirits of the Jujutsu World.

Gojo vs Sukuna

Introduction Arc

(Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Chapter: 1-5)

With this, he proceeded to help Itadori and saved him from execution even though he was the vessel of Sukuna. This was all done only because Gojo believed him to be helpful as a companion. Gojo has always directly or indirectly been the cause of most of the significant incidents within the Jujutsu Society.

Do You Think Gojo is The Strongest?
1. Satoru Gojo

If we were to talk about Satoru Gojo, then there would be no end to this excellent and overpowered character. But we tried our best to explain the vital points that make Satoru “Satoru.” To many, he might be a copy of Kakashi Sensei from Naruto, but that can’t be far from what Satoru truly embodies.
