The Dragon Ball series never failed to deliver match-ups we didn’t know we needed! Like Goku vs Beerus, Goku Black vs Gogeta, and many more! But despite the many awesome match-ups, there is one fight that we wish to see but due to certain circumstances and continuity, we won’t, that is none other than Beerus vs Broly.

I know what you’re thinking, who can be stronger than the God of Destruction? Is there even a point in this match-up? But one of the main themes of Dragon Ball is to exceed your own strength and power and then come back stronger to beat your enemy! Now with that said, will Broly stand a chance? Or will Beerus have a run for his money?

IS THE GUY PROBABLY STRONGER THAN BEERUS REALLY STRONGER THAN BEERUS?
Who is Beerus?
Beerus is the God of Destruction of Universe 7 and the twin brother of Champa. He served as an antagonist late in the series but later took on a supporting role.
He has the appearance and personality of a cat, usually, he is asleep and if his slumber would be disturbed, he would be grumpy. And much like a cat, he can be quite petty whenever he gets beaten or doesn’t get what he wants. He always threatens the Earth to have things his way… and out of fear it works.
The Prince of Saiyans Vegeta was easily beaten by the God and even with the Saiyan God Form (Dragon Ball Super, Episode 8), Goku didn’t stand a chance against Beerus (Dragon Ball Super, Episode 5), this eased Beerus’ worries about someone being stronger than him instead. Now, who can be stronger than Goku and Vegeta that can pose as a worthy adversary against this God of Destruction?

Who is Broly?
Broly is the Legendary Super Saiyan. He was born with such potential, even exceeding power levels and records, even the Prince, Vegeta. He was exiled by King Vegeta in order to protect their planet and the universe, however, this is mostly because of his insecurity towards Broly’s natural strength.
Broly became the talk in the fandom because of one line Goku drops in the movie, Dragon Ball Super: Broly and in the Light Novel. He mentions that he is probably stronger than Beerus. However, despite being finally canon in the Dragon Ball Universe, there is still no match-up happening soon… or at least we compromise.
Strength
One of the notable traits of Broly is his beyond-average raw strength and power as a Saiyan. He is shown to have exceeded 99,999 power levels, easily beating one of Frieza’s strong soldiers. All these are just from his genetics and the drastic training he had under his father (Dragon Ball Z: Burn Up!! A Red-Hot, Raging, Super-Fierce Fight).
He uses a crude fighting style and heavily relies on his power in battles. This is a result of the drastic training he experienced under his father. This might seem unstructured, but once his Saiyan instincts have kicked in, he adapts depending on his foes and his power grows more, becoming more formidable than before.
Beerus on the other hand has been seen to have taken down our protagonists, easily beating Buu (Dragon Ball Super, Episode 6), a Saiyan 3 Goku, and even Gogeta. And he hasn’t even exerted much effort in doing so. Goku in his Super Saiyan God form might have gotten close but was still defeated.
In the 28th Chapter of Dragon Ball Super, Beerus is able to dodge and counter-attack other Universe’s Gods of Destruction. He might just even be the strongest God of Destruction.
Both characters are feared by Vegeta, one of Goku’s toughest foes, both were seen as threats in the universe, and both have power levels beyond the normal. There are moments wherein Broly is stronger than Goku. Beerus might be holding back from his enemies and Broly can adapt and take hits from tougher foes.
With both having unknown power levels, it is difficult to determine which is the winner in this round.

Intelligence
Beerus might be the God of Destruction, but he is no fool. He might be impulsive and itching to destroy Earth or other planets, but he is quite a knowledgeable fighter. Trained under Whis and with experience of a million years, Beerus can whip up powerful martial art moves.
His hits can be proven fatal as he can one hit the likes of Buu and Super Saiyan 3 Goku. He can be methodical and skillful in combat. He doesn’t waste his energy over enemies he can fight at ease.
This is where Broly loses his edge against Beerus. Broly relies on his raw strength and then bulldozes his enemies. Beerus is methodical and smart in combat. He knows when to dodge and when to strike, while Broly can go berserk as he increases his power levels. He can fight all he wants but in the end, Beerus can have his way in this battle.
Who would win?
Much like the miraculous cat that recovered by itself wherein Beerus was based on, the God of Destruction ends up triumphant in this match-up, no doubt. Even the fans would agree with this outcome. Although strength is a part of winning, intelligence and wits can still turn the tables. Besides, Goku only said Broly is probably stronger than Beerus.
Canon
Though this might cause some heated debate, looking at the canon, Beerus doesn’t seem threatened with the existence of Broly, despite the knowledge that a mortal can exceed a God. Beerus seems at ease that a Super Saiyan God Goku is no match for him. Maybe he thinks the same of Broly.
Conclusion
It seems that only Zeno, the Omni-King of the Dragon Ball Universe can bring Beerus to his knees. But, let’s not lose hope. Maybe, soon Toriyama can introduce a new form or a new character.
