Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 RELEASE DATE!

On par with the hype that Demon Slayer and Attack on Titan got, Jujutsu Kaisen shook the entire anime world when it was released in October 2020. One of the best modern day anime ever, it well deserves its position among the Big Three. And its second season is to be released on July 2023.

The first season was nothing less than magnificent. The graphics, the animation, the fight scenes, the characters development, the storyline, there wasn’t one boring episode. The crew really outdid themselves, no one was left disappointed in any way.

Then came the announcement of the movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0. All the fans rejoiced in excitement. Online, it was the hot topic of the month.

Featuring Gojo Satoru as the main character for the event, the character who stole the show got the integrality of the spotlight for 1 hour and 45 long minutes. If you still not started watching Jujutsu Kaisen, you might want to check our watch order guide for this series!

Only available in Japan, for now, where the movie destroyed all the previous records, it won’t take much longer for it to finally be released for the rest of the world to see. The United States and Canada will be the first ones to have the honor to watch it on the 18th of March 2022.

Let’s talk a bit about the highlights of season 1 before proceeding to the main topic.

Number one highlight is of course Itadori Yuji and Aoi Todo’s fight against the Unregistered Special Grade curse, Hanami, during the Spirit Bash Race competition of the 30th Annual Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event.

Todo, the strongest of the third-year exorcists, never acknowledged anyone before. So for him to see Itadori as a best friend, a brother, and decide on his own to guide him in order to make him evolve was extremely satisfying.

When they teamed up against their enemy, the fight that took place made history. I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning till the end and I know for a fact that I was not the only one.

Then we have the Zenin fight. Maki against Mai. For a so-called good for nothing exorcist, Maki really knows how to majestically kick some high and mighty butts. And when it was announced that she’d be promoted to Grade One, I’ll confess that I did let out a little tiny happy scream because of the news.

Itadori and Nobara’s last fight vs the 2 Cursed Brothers was also a masterpiece on its own. Nobara really grew a lot as a character. We all thought she was weak and useless, but look at her now! She can be compared to Mikasa Ackerman or Erza Scarlet.

Let’s not forget about when Megumi broke free of all the feelings that were holding him down and won against a Special Grade curse who had eaten one of Sukuna’s fingers on his own.

There is also when Gojo revealed his eyes for the first time when we discovered what was Todo’s secret power, the team up Itadori X Nanami, and much more…

I’ll stop now or we’ll stay at it till tomorrow. Season 1 was really filled with unbelievable events. Each one was more awesome than the other. We have really high hopes for Season 2. The bar is set extremely high and the series better reach it.

When Will Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Come Out?

On this very day, February 12, 2022, MAPPA officially announced the release of Jujutsu Kaisen Second Season during a special production event set in Japan. We were all expecting the anime to continue after season 1’s huge success but they really took their sweet time to confirm it—almost got us doubting. Again, the second season is scheduled to be released in July of 2023, but the exact day is still unknown and this will be worth the wait and ride the hype train.

Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 cast: Who’s in it?

Aside from when it will be released, we can at least confirm these following characters to be present on season 2. Oh boy, can’t wait for this one!

Itadori Yuji

The main character of the series. He was the only vessel that ever managed to stay in control of his body even after consuming one of Ryōmen Sukuna’s fingers. The King of Curses. He was thrown into a new world filled with monsters and spirits just because his noisy friends were too curious about the creepy-looking box that they accidentally stumbled upon.

Satoru Gojō

Overpowered and super handsome, he stole the show from the MC. All the fans are in love with him and we completely understand why. The number one exorcist of his time, he even declared that Sukuna would lose to him if he was still alive. A pro of dark humor, super scary at times, insensitive but calculative, we never know what’s cooking inside that insane head of his.

It was thanks to him that Itadori wasn’t killed on the spot after he ate the first finger and he continued to protect him even when he became an official exorcist.

Megumi Fushiguro

Megumi is a real mystery. For some unknown reason that hopefully will be revealed in season 2, Sukuna is very interested in him.

Gloomy in a cool way, always level-headed and logical, never smiles, emotionless, his rare show of feelings is always the best part of the episode. His friendship with Itadori is very peculiar. The fact that Itadori once died in front of him triggered an intense desire to always protect his comrades even if it means dying for their sake.

Nobara Kugisaki

With an overwhelming confidence in herself, Nobara is an example for all the women in the world. During her fight against Momo, she said a really inspiring thing: “I don’t give a damn about men this and woman that. You can keep that shit to yourselves! I love myself when I’m pretty and all dressed up! And I love myself when I’m being strong! I AM KUGISAKI NOBARA!” Never be ashamed of who you are, love yourself as she does!

Ryōmen Sukuna

The King of Curses and Jujutsu Kaisen’s main antagonist. Currently, his soul is inhabiting Itadori’s body. He tricked him into entering a bet with him, which Itadori lost. Now there is one unknown command that he gave him that he will have to follow no matter what and made him forget about that pact. Cunning and charismatic, he is one of the best villains of the anime world.

Toge Inumaki

Inumaki has a very cool and unique power: Cursed Speech. Anything he says becomes a command. If the person is weaker than him, he won’t have any other choice but to obey. If the person is stronger, the Jutsu will turn on him.

So, to protect others and himself, he limits his speech too:

■ Salmon (Shake?): To affirm.

■ Fish Flakes (Okaka?): To negate.

■ Kelp (Konbu?): To greet.

Everything else is nonsense.

Kento Nanami

He was a Grade 1 sorcerer before leaving the front lines to become a salaryman and only focus on making money. He then had to exorcise a cursed spirit that was triggering a baker’s complications and decided to take his old job back. Gojo then asked him to look after Itadori for a while and he became something like a mentor to him. He was the one who taught him the Black Flash (Kokusen).

Panda

Although he looks exactly like a Panda, he isn’t really one. He is an Abrupt Mutated Cursed Corpse created by Principal Masamichi Yaga.

Panda has three cores residing in his body:

■ The balanced-type Panda

■ The power-type Gorilla

■ The third core is still unknown.

Although he is the odd one, he is the one that sees humans as bizarre creatures. We all believed that he actually wanted to be like them but turns out that it’s the opposite. He respects humans but doesn’t want to be anything like them.

Aoi Tōdō

Very eccentric, we all thought that he was nothing more than a brainless muscle head. So imagine our surprise when we learned that he has an IQ of 530,000. Born with enhanced strength and genius intellect, life was boring to death for him. When he was given the opportunity to become a jujutsu sorcerer, he was overjoyed.

He has a habit of asking the people he meets what kind of women they like to assess their personalities. It was because Yuji gave a good answer that he got attached to him. He decided on the spot to mentor him and made him level up in no time. Itadori managed to use the Black Flash five times in a row, all thanks to him.

Maki Zenin

Maki was rejected by her family because she lacks cursed energy. She can’t even see spirits unless she gets the help of the special glasses that she always wears.

And yet, she went against her family, trained to become strong, and even declared that she’ll become the head of the family one day.

She is an amazing fighter. Her physical strength and battle instincts are enough to make up for all she lacks for. Like Nobara, she has an unwavering confidence in herself. She is proud of all her achievements and always pushes through all the challenges that come her way.

Mahito

He is a cursed spirit associated with Pseudo-Geto. His goal is to annihilate all of humanity and replace them with his kind.

He is a cursed spirit with very special abilities, abilities never recorded before. Unfortunately for him, Yuji is like a natural predator for him. Very intelligent, extremely strong, manipulative, and ambitious, he was the main antagonist in season 1.

Jogo

Jogo is an Unregistered Special Grade curse that was royally done by Gojo. Thanks to him, we got to see one of Satoru’s special techniques. Almost killed, he was saved at the last second by Hanami. All that was left of him was his head. Good thing spirits get to grow back their body parts.

Hanami

Hanami is an Unregistered Special Grade curse that fought against Itadori and Todo. She is a very strong spirit and never got to enjoy a fight in her life.

Against those two, however, it was different. Pushed to the very brink of all her abilities, she was defeated and tried to escape. Gojo unleashed Purple to stop her but it was impossible to determine if she survived the attack or not.

Suguru Geto

He was one of Gojo’s classmates, and best friend. His time at Jujutsu High became the gateway for him to develop an extreme hatred for all the humans without cursed energy.

His hatred turned into insanity when he massacred more than a hundred innocent people in one single night. He was only given a slap on the hand for his actions and was expelled from the school. Ever since that event, he started to be known as the worst of all curse users.

He was not much seen in season 1. However, I believe that he is behind all the schemes of the cursed spirits. Hopefully, we will see more of him in season 2

Yuta Okkotsu

Oh Boy, Yuta will be seen on Season 2! We have already seen him in the movie but it’s different if we can see him every week, right? Oh, in case you don’t know him yet, let me introduce him to you.

Yuta Okkotsu is the lead character of the prequel movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0. His late childhood companion Rika Orimoto plagued him at first, turning him into a special grade cursed human. Yuta was mentored by Satoru Gojo, who also enrolled him at Tokyo Jujutsu High.

Yuta is a second-year student at Jujutsu High and a jujutsu sorcerer by profession. Up until the Shibuya Incident, he was training abroad in Africa before returning to Tokyo.

What Will Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Cover?

The trailer that was released online gave us zero hints about Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 plot. However, it’s relatively easy to predict since the anime is thoroughly following its source.

These are the arcs from the manga:

4. Cursed Training Arc

5. Vs. Mahito Arc

6. Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc

7. Death Painting Arc

8. Gojo’s Past Arc

9. Shibuya Incident Arc

12. Tokyo No. 1 Colony Arc

The Cursed Child Arc is the arc that was narrated in the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Season 1 featured the Introduction Arc till the Death Painting Arc. We don’t know how many Arcs will be in Season 2 but Gojo’s Past Arc is guaranteed. At the time, Gojo was still a student and a friend of Geto.

Together, they failed to save a young girl that was targeted by one of the Zenin’s assassins, Toji Fushiguro, the father of Megumi Fushiguro, an individual who can’t use cursed energy. Toji will end up dying and Geto will decide that the world should be cleansed of all non-sorcerers.

We will also learn that the mole is Mechamaru working with Mahito. However, he will turn on him at some point in the series. Geto and the Cursed Spirits will install a protective barrier over all of Shibuya. Yuji, Megumi, Nobara, Gojo, Nanami, and many other sorcerers will be dispatched to fight them.

In one blast, Gojo will eliminate multiple cursed spirits, however, as a consequence he will be trapped in the Prison Realm. Pseudo-Geto will announce the death of the real one. Yuji will still be hell-bent on revenge against Mahito and will only focus on killing him.

Those are the main events that will be happening. Many more breathtaking situations will take place, but if you know all of them then where is the fun, right?
