Introduction
Over the past few years, otakus have been introduced to different kinds of anime per season. One of these incredible series that stands out to us is the latest hit, Tokyo Revengers. This series has been on our radar since the release of the manga. Aside from the anime adaptation that is still ongoing, it has a live-action film and stage play adaptation.
Now, another anime series released years ago has the same level of emotions for us, and this is none other than Erased. Erased started tragic, filled with powerful emotions, and takes you in for a ride. So, how are these two anime series similar or different from each other? Let’s find out!
Table of Contents
Okay, just before we dive into these two fantastic series, we wanted to send out a reminder that there are going to some spoilers here and there. If you’re still watching these series or still plan to watch them, read with caution. Ready? Let’s go!

Tokyo Revengers
Tokyo Revengers follows the story Takemichi Hanagaki, who stays in a run-down home and is poorly treated by a younger boss. As he watched the news, Takemichi finds out that his former girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, was killed by the Tokyo Manji Gang. As the story progresses, he suddenly finds himself transported back ten years ago during his middle school days. Now that he’s here, he must do whatever it takes to save Hinata’s life while also doing what he can to change his life around for the better by stopping this criminal gang.
The manga series is such an instant hit that it sold more than 30 million copies in Japan alone. We gotta admit that the first few episodes of the anime have got us hooked and craving for more!

Erased
Erased is a series that centers on Satoru Fujinuma, who is an aspiring manga artist. He also possesses the ability to travel back in time to reverse or prevent bad things from happening. When he witnessed a murder of a loved one, he travels back in time even further to find a way to avoid the incident from taking place.
The name for Fujinuma’s ability is called “Revival,” and this ability got him to go back in time 18 years ago to stop the murder of his mom from an unknown killer and preventing a kidnapping incident from happening with his three childhood buddies.
Which one should I watch?
Conclusion:
After carefully comparing the two series and took some time to watch and read the anime and manga of the two, we got to admit that it’s kind of difficult to say which series is better and which stands out from us. But we have to admit that Erased seems to have more of an advantage here as Fujinuma was already aware of his ability from the beginning of the series.
Both the main characters of the two anime show have a particular reason to go back in time. At the same time, they are trying their best to prevent such incidents from happening. They are also trying to fix and improve themselves as well. That way, when Takemichi and Fujinuma go back to their present time, they will definitely know what is best for them.
So, if you’re looking for an action-packed time-traveling anime series, we highly recommend Erased. However, you are looking for something less dark and manageable, you can also consider Tokyo Revengers. There’s more to look forward to so hope you enjoy this feature.
