26+ Anime You Should NEVER Watch With Your Parents (HQ Images)

Everyone wants to share a bit of family time with their parents and sibling at intervals, watching a TV show with food and drinks on the table but no one wants to be caught in those weird, awkward position where you have to choose between looking at the floor or to continue looking at the exaggerated scenes showing on your screens.

So to help you navigate some of these avoidable situations, these are some anime you have no business seeing with your parents.

27. How To Raise A Boring Girlfriend

A month after encountering Megumi Kato, Tomoya Aki finds out she is his classmate, mostly because she is barely noticeable in class. Tomoya then decides to create a dating game (Definitely Not Tinder) and turns to 3 of his female classmates for help.

Forming a team called the ‘Blessing software’, they embark on an adventure to make the game a reality with Megumi portraying the star Heroin. Not bad for a Rom-com anime.

26. High School DxD

High School DxD is an anime you can’t afford to watch while your parents are around. This anime kinda has a similar plot with Tokyo Ghoul. In the sense that the young Issei Hyodo was asked out on a date by the beautiful Yuma Amano and after the date, she eventually ends up killing him after revealing herself as a fallen angel ― similar to how Rize got the drop on Kaneki. Long story short, Issei awakes beside her only to find out she is a devil who revived him as a devil and her faithful servant.

25. Uzaki-chan Wants to Hang Out!

Talk about stalking a dude like a pest, definitely something I’d like every girl to do to me! But, Shinichi Sakurai is just a different dude who probably wants none of that. This romantic story follows Hana Uzaki who after being excited about getting into the same university as her high school underclassman Shinichi, concludes that he’s transformed into a loner after a year of monitoring him.

The anime sees her trying to spend as much of her time with Shinichi as much as possible, and have him experience a fun and enjoyable lifestyle. Thus, she began her stalking rampage on him.

28. Uzuki Chan

24. Goblin Slayer

When it comes to Gory anime, Goblin Slayer is one of the forerunners of this category. Not something my parents would want me to watch.

The main story revolves around an adventurer who accepts missions to get rid of Goblins. And the Goblins in this story are a menace to society, causing havoc wherever they step foot in.

Among the crimes they constitute include destruction of properties and other stuff.

Goblin Slayer

23. Highschool of the Dead

I could call this anime a lot of things; horror, adventure, survival, comedy… and the list goes on. But imagine seeing a zombie walk into your school right when you’re in the middle of a class… yep, terrifying.

The story sees a group of students fighting for survival after the world inexplicably fell into a zombie apocalypse. Blood, gore, guns, battle, and of course action are all that you should expect to see in this epic anime which I’ve dubbed the Resident Evil of anime!

HighSchool Of The Dead

22. Attack on Titan

Yes… don’t be surprised why Attack on Titan is on this list. The majority of anime fans may overwhelmingly love it, but I don’t think our parents would be so thrilled at the sight of abnormal titans crunching on the bones of humans with blood and organs splattered all over the district of Maria!

Attack on Titan as we all know it shows the story of Eren Yaeger who vowed to kill every single Titan and Marleyan as a result of the death they brought upon his Mother and comrades.

Attack on titan

21. The Asterisk War

This anime is about the city of Asterisk where Genestella participates in certain tournaments called the Festas in an era where the economy of the world is rapidly declining following the rise to power of megacorporations known as the Integrated Enterprise Foundations.

Ayato Amagiri is forced to fight Julis-Alexia von Riessfeld on his first day in the academy after discovering her in an awkward situation. After a series of dramas in this anime, he eventually sees himself being hailed as the new top student of the academy.

The Asterisk War

20. Monogatari

Vampires, ghosts, apparitions, beasts, spirits, and other supernatural phenomena may be off the list when talking about anime our parents wouldn’t want us to watch… and that’s precisely all that Monogatari is about.

Koyomi Araragi is a third-year high school student who survived a vampire attack after which he found himself helping girls who participate in all kinds of supernatural phenomena.

After having been afflicted by a plethora of oddities, he seeks guidance from Oshino and Shinobu ― a blonde vampire who once attacked him ― to help deal with the apparitions which feed on human emotions and take symbolical forms represented by animals.

19. Sankarea: Undying Love

Let’s admit it, a lot of people are weird! But not up to the level of Chihiro’s who wishes to have a zombie girlfriend. His desire eventually comes true after Rea Sanka accidentally falls off a cliff and dies, after which she resurrects and must eat Hydrangea leaves to survive ― as she once drank a poisonous potion made from the same leaf in an attempt to commit suicide before she died, unknown to her that the potion contains Resurrection properties.

Zombie-obsessed Chihiro Furuya meets her and she eventually becomes his girlfriend in this Zombie, Romantic-comedy series that I doubt any parent would want their kids to watch.

Sankarea

18. Mirai Nikki

Of course, who doesn’t love a psycho girl? Well, I don’t!

The anime is about a game where wielders of a certain phone must kill each other till the last man standing. Yuuki, the protagonist, is a very timid individual that always ends up getting saved by Yuno ― the psycho girl that I referenced earlier ― who kills without hesitation anyone who tries to jump him.

Being a survival anime, there is no shortage of killings, blood, gore, explosions, and destruction, and that is something you will find troubling if you have to see it with your parents.

Mirai Nikki Gankutsuou:

17. Tokyo Ghoul

“What the hell is this?” is the only thing you might hear when your parents walk in on you watching someone’s intestines being gouged out by a ghoul.

There is no shortage of gore, blood, violence, and munching of flesh and organs in this dark fantasy horror anime. In this anime, Kaneki gets invited out on a date by the crush of his life, Rize, only for him to find out too late that she was a ghoul.

An accident occurs, she eventually dies and he ends up getting some of her organs transplanted into his body thus turning him into a half-ghoul. Word of advice; never agree if she asks you out on a date.

Tokyo Ghoul

16. Parasyte

Ever seen a human being’s head bitten off and swallowed whole? If you can’t stand this, then I guess it’s not a good idea to watch Parasyte.

Parasyte revolves around a world where certain extraterrestrial worms enter a person’s body, eat the brains, take control of the body, and then go on to eat other humans just for sport.

In this story, Shinichi, the protagonist, gets infected with a parasite that beneficially fuses with him ultimately leading him to gain newfound abilities which he must use to save the world and put an end to the havoc wreaked upon the world by the parasites.

Parasyte the Maxim

15. Berserk

I don’t know the age rating for this anime, but it surely isn’t for the faint of heart. This dark gory anime with no shortage of blood spilling, follows the adventure of Guts, a black swordsman who set out on a path of slaying humongous monsters, even way bigger than himself. On certain occasions, he is faced with the task of rescuing someone from corruption.

At the very beginning of his introduction, he slaughters a group of bandits whom he finds hurting a girl named Puck in a tavern, thus protecting her. After Which she ends up accompanying him on his adventure. Definitely a good watch for us, but not while our parents are around.

14. DNA

In aspects of other scenes, DNA takes it to the next level. In this anime, you’ll get no shortage of romance scenes and every other perk that comes with this kind of anime.

This anime follows the story of young Junta Momonari who vomits each time he’s in an awkward situation, it also shows his transition into a Mega-Playboy who has an extremely intense  reputation that makes him easily get any girl he wishes to. Little did he know that in the future he would marry so many women and father 100 children and each of his children would inherit his Mega-Playboy gene and also go on to father 100 children each.

This would eventually cause the world to become overpopulated, inevitably leading to an era where having more than 1 child is a crime punishable by death.

13. My Sister, My Writer

While some scenes might be disturbing to our parents, this may be on a whole different level which they’ll frown upon. This anime follows the story of Suzuka Nagami who began harboring strange feelings towards her brother.

During her third year in high school, her novel ― which is centered around a sister who dotes on her brother ― won a Light novel award.

Later on, due to several reasons, she decides to give full credits for the novel to her brother using a completely new pen name. She and her brother, Yu Nagami, later join to make progress for her novel, to which she began developing real feelings towards her brother.

12. Gakuen de Jikan yo Tomare

Let’s face it; the scenes in Anime may be cool, but sometimes, they’re not cool at all! And that’s precisely why you shouldn’t be caught watching this anime by your parents.

A child who sought revenge upon his father for abandoning him invades a prestigious school, and with his time-stopping device.

11. Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend

Aired from January 1987 to April 1989, Urotsukidoji is an old-school anime. Nevertheless, the gore scenes are nothing short of amazing. In this anime, there is no shortage of gory scenes and extreme fights. Here, monsters force women and then kill them or eat them for a snack. This, however, does not mean the storyline is anything short of amazing.

Urotsukidoji

10. Blood-C

Blood-C has the perfect mix of horror and action. It follows the story of a shrine maiden who uses a sword bestowed upon her to kill all the monsters wreaking havoc on her village. Little would anyone know that Saya Kisaragi was just a clumsy teenage girl in high school during the daytime.

Blood C

9. Corpse Party: Tortured Souls

You might be a fan of movies depicting haunted places and blood-seeking demons, but not when it happens to a bunch of high school students. In this anime, 3 students get summoned into a haunted elementary school in a separate dimension, just after reciting a series of ghost stories.

This anime sees them facing their biggest fear: death, while they fight for survival from the hands of blood-seeking demons and ghosts.

Corpse Party Based on a popular survival game, Corpse Party doesn’t disappoint. This anime is the definition of horror, with its dark backgrounds and gory scenes, Corpse Party manages to deliver a great horror story. The setting is a bit cliche as it is set in a high school, the students who were attending a cultural festival suddenly get trapped into an alternate reality. The school where they’re stuck is haunted and our main character tries to survive it.

8. Claymore

I remember vividly the first time I watched Claymore, it was filled with ecstatic action scenes. So it’s not really suited for those old timers. In this anime, there are demonic beasts, Yoma, who devour humans thus giving them the ability to shapeshift into the appearance of their prey. Claire, a half-human, half-yoma sets out on her mission to rid the world of these terrifying monsters.

Claymore

7. Dropout

This anime focuses on some rather. Here, people who fail to get admission into the university are considered ‘dropouts’ and are forced into the workforce. Dropout is a rather unique anime that stands out from the rest.

Dropout

6. Princess Knight Lila

In this story, Princess Lila who was next in line to the thrown was subjected to the highest level of happiness through humiliation, and being offered to demons… all in an act to extract her hidden power as orchestrated by her brother, Dirk.

5. Mr. Arashi’s Amazing Freak Show (Shoujo Tsubaki)

This 48-minutes long anime movie follows the story of Midori who faced hardship due to her mother’s ill health as she drops out of school to make money to fend for her mother.

On a certain day, she gets home only to see her mother dead and being feasted upon by rats. She then decides to leave her home for the address a certain man had lured her to.

Upon arrival, she is captured by a myriad of circus freaks who take advantage of and bully her to the point where she contemplates suicide. I must say this is a disturbing anime which you shouldn’t dare watch while your parents are with you.

Mr Arashi

4. Death Note

Yes, Death Note deserves to be mentioned on this list. The anime as we all know it portrays scenes of gruesome death, self-proclaimed justice, and extreme mind games, not to mention the level of psychological effect which it has had on kids and adolescents.

This goes to explain why this anime has been banned in China, primarily due to its harmful effect on kids. As far as its psychological effects go, kids have been seen worldwide wielding replicas of the Death Note where they’ve written the name(s) of their friends, ex, teachers, and parents along with the gruesome ways they wish for them to die.

Having just unraveled all this, it could be argued that parents would not want their children watching something so inappropriate.

Death Note

3. Hensuki

This anime follows the story of Keiku Kiryu who finds a love letter ― with something awakward attached ― addressed to him. He then goes on to investigate several girls to unravel who his secret admirer may be. Along the way, he finds out that almost every girl is something else and that they all want him to take part in something.

7. Hensuki

2. Hellsing OVA (Hellsing Ultimate)

In this 10-episode anime, you’ll get nothing short of blood-spilling savagery in each of its 1-hour long episodes. The presence of vampires, werewolves, and other supernatural beings is what you should expect to see in this tale of extreme horror. And just like the American movie, the anime packs a punch to it too.

In this story, the British government created a secret branch ― Hellsing Organization ― tasked with hunting down and killing supernatural beings, to protect the populace. Alucard, the most prominent and reliable killer steps to slaughter vampires, which he also happens to be.

Hellsing

1. Dark Love

The content in this anime is so extreme, even adults may have difficulty watching it. It follows the story of Gojo ‘Nowaki’ Tetsuya who trains girls needed to for specific reasons in Gekkokan. Gekkokan, a secret underground tunnel, is a popular place for the wealthy who frequently visit the place to engage in immoral activities.

The most absurd scenes you should expect in this anime are the ones that involve tentacles.

Also disturbing is the fact that these tentacles can grow extra-pointy tiny tentacles. You definitely shouldn’t check out this anime with your parents around, but if you decide to take this leap of faith, you should also expect to see some scenes that aren’t pleasant.

Kuro Ai

Final Verdict

There you have it. These 27 Anime should never be watched in front of your parents. That’s how it usually goes. So, DO YOUR HOMEWORK before watching the next Anime with your friends of family.
