Demon Slayer’s Spin-Off Anime Confirms Its Own Manga Series

On Monday, July 5, the 31st issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Magazine confirmed that the spinoff anime of Demon Slayer, Kimetsu Gakuen, is getting its own Manga Series.

Kimetsu Gakuen Manga Series Announcement

Kimetsu Gakuen is said to debut in the September issue of Shueisha’s Saikyo Jump and will be released on August 4. Natsuki Hokami, who is famous for creating Gokutei Higuma, will be creating the manga series along with Koyoharu Gotouge who is the original creator of Demon Slayer. The characters will be animated in a deformed way, not super refined or symmetrical.

Kimetsu Gakuen: Valentines-Hen

Previously, “Kimetsu Gakuen: Valentines-Hen” featured four short episodes that were Valentine’s Day Specials. They premiered on February 14. The characters from the anime can be seen dealing with school stuff and are shown in the school setting.

The original Demon Slayer Manga serialized from February 2016 to May 2020 in Shueisha’s Shonen Manga Magazine. There were a total of 26 volumes for the manga chapters. 

The manga gained immense popularity and an anime series based on the manga was produced by Ufotable debuted in Japan in April 2019. It aired till September 2019. The anime series consisted of a total of 26 episodes. 

A sequel film, Demon Slayer: Mugen Train was released in October 2020 and it won the title of the highest-grossing Anime Movie in Japan. We’re expecting a second season for the anime by the end of 2021.

Tanjiro Kamado is the eldest son of the Kamado household and after his father’s sudden death, Tanjiro shoulders are the burden of the family. Tanjiro’s family lives happily and peacefully on a remote mountain. 

Tanjiro leaves to sell charcoal to a local village nearby and leaves his family behind. It is night time when he gets done with selling. On his way back, he rests at a man’s house who warns him about flesh-eating demons.

When he gets back to his house, he witnesses the dead bodies of his family. Nezuko, his sister, is the only survivor but she had been turned into a demon. Tanjiro decides to turn his sister back into a human being and to avenge his family. 

Nezuko still retains some of her human nature and that gives Tanjiro some hope. Now, Tanjiro must travel and find for a cure to Nezuko’s illness. On his way, he meets a bunch of other Demon Slayers who help him with his goal.

Final Verdict

Demon Slayer undoubtedly set the bar very high for the other anime that are of the same genre. Fans are excited about the spin-off anime getting a manga series as Saikyo Jump Magazine uploaded a sketch as a teaser.
