Species: Human
Affiliations: Demon Slayer Corps
Relationships: Tengen Uzui (Husband), Suma (Co-wife), Hinatsuru (Co-wife)
Manga debut: Chapter 71
Appearance

Makio looks kind of frightening in her appearance. Her pale skin and big eyes add to that factor. Her hair is black in colour and she always keeps them tied up. She also has bangs hanging over her head that are yellowish-brown in colour.
She has scars all over her body and she wears them with pride. This indicates that she has been involved in a lot of tough battles and managed to survive them. Her attire consists of a short dress with no sleeves and bandages tied to her legs.
Personality

Confident
Makio has a confident and bold personality. In terms of that, she can be compared to Inosuke which also allows her to charge headstrong into battles. This unwavering personality is the core of her character.

Impatient
If Makio lacks one thing in herself, it is patience. She can rarely remain calm and can get quite irritated at times. This is why she couldn’t always put up with Tengen’s other wife, Suma.

Violence
Makio loves to always let her fists do the talking. She does not believe in talking calmly with a person and making them understand something. Whenever she gets irritated or loses her patience, she can be seen giving the other person quite a wallop.
Even after their battle against the Obi, she lost her patience with Suma. Suma’s comments about Hinatsuru dying were rather insensitive and Makio responded to that by slapping her instantly (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 94).

Soft
Every rough person on the outside has a soft core inside them. Makio was no exception to this and we got to see her soft side when it looked like Tengen might die after their major battle. She was extremely relieved after Nezuko managed to heal him which further confirmed Makio’s soft nature (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 95).

Brave
Makio was very brave and courageous. She went undercover as a courtesan even while knowing that her life could be in danger. She proved her bravery once again when she got captured by Daki’s obi. She could have easily told all the information out of the fear of losing her life but she chose not to.
Strength And Skills

Makio is not very flamboyant with her skills and abilities. She is not a demon slayer who wields a sword. So, you will not see any fascinating breathing techniques from her. She also does not have any supernatural powers.
But what she will provide you with is the way of the ninja. She is a female ninja so her main choice of weapon is a kunai. Using her kunai, she can perform many flashy moves that ordinary people can’t do. And she has shown time and time again, that while using the methods she is comfortable with, she can hold her own against any
Facts
- Apart from being Tengen’s wife, Makio also has a distant relationship with him. She used to be his cousin before Tengen decided to marry her.
- The name Makio can be interpreted as firewood or fuel.
- Makio’s personality trait remains true to the meaning of her name.

Past/History

As stated earlier, Makio was Tengen’s cousin before the duo got married. Tengen also married Suma and Hinatsuru and Makio became co-wives with them.
After her marriage, Makio’s family members decided to pay a little visit to the head of the Demon Slayer Corps, Kagaya Ubuyashiki. This is because they wanted to join the Demon Slayer Corps and fight against the demons (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 87).
Affiliations

The Three Wives
Makio is a part of the three wives of Tengen Uzui. She shares her husband with Tengen’s other two wives named Suma and Hinatsuru. Apart from being his wife, Makio also has a distant blood relation to Tengen.

Demon Slayer Corps
Makio is a part of the Demon Slayer Corps but unlike traditional demon slayers, she prefers to use a kunai rather than a sword. She has been a valuable addition to the Corps with her headstrong personality and her smooth skills as a ninja.
Relationships

Tengen Uzui
Tengen Uzui is Makio’s husband for whom she had a soft spot. Although it is hard to believe from Makio’s cold outward appearance, she cared deeply for him. This is why she was so concerned when Tengen was gravely injured and kept clinging onto him after Nezuko healed her.

Suma
Makio and Suma were co-wives and they did not share exactly a pleasant relationship. Makio often got irritated with her antiques and even resorted to violence whenever she ran out of patience. Although, as co-wives, they were never expected to have a healthy relationship in the first place anyways.

Hinatsuru
Hinatsuru was the last wife of Tengen and naturally, Makio was also a co-wife with her. Her relationship with Hinatsuru was far better than what she had with Suma. This was mainly because of Hinatsuru’s personality which made Makio feel at ease around her.
Plot

Entertainment District Arc
Makio was introduced in the Entertainment District Arc and had a major role to play in it. She and the other wives were sent by Tengen to gather information about a demon. Makio’s job was to go undercover in the Ogimoto house and relay all the information to Tengen through a crow. But unfortunately, she got captured one day.
She refused to reveal Tengen’s identity when Daki’s obi questioned her continuously (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 72). The obi found no other way and kidnapped Makio. It kept her imprisoned in an underground bunker.

She was broken free by Inosuke later as they joined them to protect the girls from getting absorbed again by the obi. She later gets to meet Tengen, and the group helps the citizens in escaping from the district (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 88).
After helping out the citizens, they return to Tengen only to find him gravely injured by poison. Gyutaro had poisoned Tengen and it wasn’t any ordinary poison. This is why none of their antidotes were working on him. When nothing seemed to help him, Nezuko came to the rescue and healed Tengen with her abilities.

Hashira Training Arc
In this arc, Makio appeared only briefly for a moment along with Tengen when he came to compliment Tanjiro for the hard work he was putting in his training. Other than that, Makio does not really appear in any other parts of the story and the Entertainment District Arc was her only main battle in the series.
