Big applause for the creator Hajime Isayama! It’s an awesome manga and anime that’s taken the world by storm! The story is all about these giant humanoid creatures called titans, who like to snack on humans like they’re at an all-you-can-eat buffet.
Scary, huh? But don’t fret, there’s a group of brave heroes who put their lives on the line to protect humanity! Now, to get to know these characters more, let me introduce them one by one! ATTACK ON TITAN CHARACTERS
Main Characters
Eren Jaeger
Eren Jaeger is the main character of the Attack on Titan series. He is a young man who witnessed the death of his mother at the hands of a titan. This experience drives him to join the Survey Corps to fight against the titans. But how did he became a titan?
Mikasa Ackerman
Eren’s childhood friend, Mikas possesses an extraordinary ability to fight, and she has a strong attachment to Eren. Mikasa also has a lot of inspirational quotes!
Armin Arlert
Eren Jaeger’s best friend. He is a strategic thinker who often serves as the group’s intellectual. Despite his perceived weakness, his exceptional bravery and cunningness make him an invaluable asset to the team. One of my favorite Armin lines “willpower isn’t alone enough in battle!”
Scout Regiment
To defend humanity and battle the titans, the Eldians established three military branches within the walls of Paradis. One of these branches is the Scout Regiment, also referred to as the Survey Corps. Their primary objective is to investigate the outside world and gather information about the Titans, as well as to recover the territory that has been taken from them (such as the Shinganshina District).
The Scout Regiment is outfitted with maneuvering gear, which enables them to move quickly and fight titans with remarkable agility.
Erwin Smith
Commander Erwin Smith is the leader of the Scout Regiment and is known for his calm and collected personality. He is a serious and charismatic leader who inspires loyalty and respect from his subordinates.
Erwin is also one of the most cunning characters in the series and possesses exceptional strategic thinking and tactical expertise, making him a valuable asset not only to the Scout Regiment but to all of humanity. Despite his role as a commander, Erwin is also a skilled fighter and is not afraid to enter into battle himself when necessary.
Levi Ackerman
Captain Levi Ackerman is the commander of the Scout Regiment’s Special Operations Squad, and one of the most skilled fighters in the group. He is feared by titans and humans alike due to his precision and speed in battle. Levi is also fiercely devoted to his comrades, and he will do whatever it takes to keep them safe. To learn a few things or two from him then better read some of his badass quotes!
Hange Zoë
Hange is a curious and passionate scientist who is obsessed with titans. She has devoted her life to unraveling the mysteries surrounding them and is often seen conducting experiments on them even if it means getting her hands dirty. Her extensive knowledge and expertise in titan research make her an invaluable asset to the Scout Regiment. However, Hange is not just brain, she is also a badass fighter who fearlessly joins her comrades in battle. But, did she actually die in AOT?
Connie Springer
Connie is a compassionate and optimistic soldier who enlisted in the Scout Regiment to defend his village. Despite his friendly demeanor, he is a proficient fighter and has demonstrated his capabilities in combat multiple times.
Jean Kirstein
Is often called “Horse Face.” Jean is a talented fighter, and his leadership abilities have earned him the respect of his comrades.
Sasha Blouse
Sasha is also famously known by her fan-made nickname “Potato Girl.” Her cheerful and energetic personality is infectious, and she has a love for food that is second to none. Despite her carefree attitude, Sasha is a skilled hunter and tracker, making her a valuable fighter.
Krista Lenz / Historia Reiss
She is a gentle and compassionate soldier who joined the military to leave behind her troubled past. Her squadmates often refer to her as the “Goddess” due to her kind nature and willingness to help others.
However, behind her gentle exterior lies a skilled fighter who has proven herself in battle. Her royal bloodline also makes her a valuable asset in political situations. Let us not forget that she is also a cute anime waifu!
Ymir
Ymir is a complex character whose past continues to haunt her. She was once a member of a cult that worshiped the Founding Titan, Ymir. But the cult was later discovered and its members were turned into Pure Titans by Marleyan soldiers.
After wandering the world as a pure titan, Ymir stumbled upon four warriors and consumed Marcel, the previous Jaw Titan. Eventually, she joined the Scout Regiment and became known for her formidable abilities.
Marco Bodt
Marco was known for being an intelligent guy, and he had a real talent for judging people’s character. In fact, he was the one who saw the leadership potential in Jean. That’s pretty cool, right?
But unfortunately, Marco’s time in the series is cut short when he’s killed by his own comrades during the Battle of Trost. His death leaves a lot of guilt and sadness to his comrades. Later in the series, It turned out that one of the traitors within the Scout Regiment was responsible for his death. But even in his last moments, Marco stayed true to his character and tried to reason with his fellow soldiers.
Marlo Freudenberg
Marlo was a former member of the Military Police Brigade, believing that it was the best way to maintain order and protect the people within the walls. However, upon discovering the corruption within the brigade, he joined the Scout Regiment.
Throughout his time in the military, Marlo demonstrated a strong dedication and commitment to protecting humanity. Even in the face of danger, he remained faithful to the cause.
Moblit Berner
Marco is a loyal and smart member of the Scout Regiment. He is often seen accompanying Hange Zoe and assisting her in her research and investigations. He depicted his loyalty, especially in his last moments when we saw him protecting Hange from an incoming projectile.
Mike Zacharias
Although Mike has a peculiar habit of smelling other people, he is highly regarded for his strength, second only to Captain Levi. He possesses excellent leadership skills and a keen sense of smell, making him a valuable asset in detecting the presence of Titans.
Despite his strength and abilities, Mike is not invincible. He met his tragic fate when he encountered the Beast Titan. By the way who do you think is the strongest AOT character?
Nanaba
An esteemed Survey Corps member, Nanaba frequently travels with Mike Zacharias, her supervisor.. She is calm and reserved, but her combat skills are exceptional, allowing her to take on multiple titans simultaneously.
Nanaba has a compassionate side and prioritizes the safety of her fellow soldiers. This was demonstrated during the tragic events at Utgard Castle, where they were overwhelmed by titans due to their depleted resources.
Petra Ral
Petra is renowned for her exceptional combat abilities and kind nature, which led to her selection by Levi as a member of the Special Operations Squad.
During a mission, the team faces the Female Titan, but despite her considerable skills, Petra is unable to withstand the titan’s attack and, Tragically, she passes away along with others of her squad mates.
Military Police Regiment
The Military Police Regiment is responsible for maintaining order and protecting citizens within the walls. Unlike the Scout Regiment, their task is to maintain peace and order within the walls by guarding the royal family and enforcing laws. Despite their reputation for being corrupt and lazy, there are still dedicated members willing to protect the people within the walls.
Kenny Ackermann
Kenny is a former member of the Military Police Regiment and a skilled assassin, famously known as “Kenny the Ripper.” Though his past remains shrouded in mystery, we know that he was once a part of the Ackermann family, a lineage of powerful warriors with exceptional combat skills.
Initially portrayed as a ruthless and cunning villain, Kenny’s character grows more complex as the series progresses, and we learn more about his motivations and complicated relationship with his nephew, Levi.
Caven
Caven is a member of the Military Police’s Anti-Personnel Control Squad led by Kenny Ackermann. Initially, she doesn’t like Kenny. But as the series progresses, we see her taking on the role of second-in-command when Kenny is not around.
Little is known about Caven’s backstory or motivations, but we see her play a crucial role in several key battles, particularly in the underground chapel. However, in the end, they are outwitted by the Survey Corps and die due to the debris caused by Rod Reiss’s Titan transformation.
Hitch Dreyse
Hitch is portrayed as lazy and uninterested, but she has a strong sense of justice and speaks out against corruption. After confronting the truth about the corrupt government and titans, she ended up helping the Survey Corps.
She has a close relationship with Marlo Freudenberg. But when Marlo decided to join the Survey Corps and died in the battle against the Titans, Hitch mourned his loss.
Garrison Regiment
The Garrison Regiment is a faction in Attack on Titan responsible for protecting and maintaining the walls and defending against titans.
Dot Pyxis
Dot Pyxis is a high ranking military officer. He is known for his intelligence and strategic thinking. Pyxis is a compassionate leader who cares for the welfare of his subordinates. He works with the Survey Corps to overthrow the corrupt government.
Kitz Woermann
Captain of the 1st division in the Garrison’s Elite Forces, may come across as a tough and uncompromising figure. However, his anxiety often takes hold in tense situations, causing him to become paranoid. During the breach of Wall Rose by the titans, his anxiety seemed to diminish as he demonstrated his leadership skills by commanding the eastern defenses without exhibiting signs of paranoia.
Rico Brzenska
Rico is a squad leader in the Garrison Regiment, and she is known for her calm demeanor in most situations. Her emotional stability, however, was put to the test when her crew was completely destroyed by titans during the mission to recapture Trost District. Despite the chaos and loss of life around her, Rico managed to keep a level head and protect Eren from the Titans. The mission was ultimately successful, but at a great cost in terms of casualties. Hannes
Hannes is a member of the Garrison and a squad leader. He enjoys the company of alcohol, but let us not forget that he is the reason why Eren and Mikasa are still alive. The death of Carla drove him to become a better soldier and a great leader.
Cadet Corps
Cadet Corps is a military institution that trains future members of the Scout Regiment, Military Police Regiment, and Garrison Regiment. Students undergo rigorous combat and survival training, as well as teamwork and leadership development. The Cadet Corps provides a foundation for the series’ military factions and gives insight into the lives of young soldiers as they prepare to face the real world.
Keith Sadies
Keith Sadies is the Chief Instructor of the Survey Corps. He used to be the commander of the Scout Regiment, but after a mission failure that resulted in the death of his comrades, he lost confidence in himself and resigned. He then passed on his position to Erwin Smith. Despite his difficult past, Keith is still a committed soldier who is willing to risk his life to defend humanity.
Eldian Military
Dhalis Zachary or Darius Zackly
He is a military official with the title of Three Regiments Commander-in-Chief, which means he supervises the three military branches of Paradis. Although seen as strict, he is more concerned with the well-being of humanity.
He also has a strong hatred towards the corrupt Eldian monarchy. When they were overthrown, he decided to torture one of them by making a device that forced the monarch to drink his own urine. This scene showed his sociopathic side.
Paradis Island Nobility
Historia Reiss
Also known as Krista, she is the daughter of Rod Reiss and the last surviving member of the Royal family. Initially, she hides her true identity but after the coup d’etat, she decides to reclaim her rightful heritage.
Historia is generally a kind and shy person, but she gains strength over time, especially after she kills her transformed father. As a result, she becomes one of the most respected and benevolent rulers of Paradis.
Rod Reiss
A member of the Reiss family, he is known as the true king of the wall and commonly referred to as Lord Reiss, the twisted father of Historia. He tried to persuade Historia to become a titan and consume Eren to reclaim the Founding Titan, not for the sole purpose of serving humanity but for the sake of achieving godhood.
Historia disliked her father’s wicked idea and shattered the titan serum. This made Reiss act impulsively and in a frenzy, he desperately consumed the serum from the floor, transforming into an Abnormal Titan.
Frieda Reiss
The elder daughter of Rod Reiss, Frieda is a kind and gentle person, unlike her father. She acted as a sister and a mother-like figure to Historia. Frieda was the previous holder of the Founding Titan but was tragically killed by Grisha Yeager, who murdered most of the Reiss family members.
Uri Reiss
The younger brother of Rod Reiss and Kenny’s best friend, Uri was formerly known as the true king of the walls and the former holder of the Founding Titan. He later transferred his power to his niece, Frieda.
Uri was known for his benevolent and kind nature, even when his father tried to instill wicked and sick ideologies in him, he disagreed and instead chose to give the people the freedom to live within the walls. Later, we see him bowing down to Kenny as a form of sincere apology.
Karl Fritz
He was the final ruler of the Eldian Empire and his actions led to its collapse. He relocated many Eldians to the island of Paradis, where he constructed walls and utilized the power of the Founding Titan to erase their memories of the outside world. He then became the first king of the walls and changed his name from Fritz to Reiss.
Marleyan Military
The Marleyan military in Attack on Titan is responsible for protecting and expanding Marley’s territories through various branches, including the powerful Warrior Unit and the Public Security Authorities.
Calvi
As a general in the Marleyan military forces, Calvi is a proud and loyal citizen of Marley. Despite holding an important leadership position, he often appears disengaged from his duties and displays boredom during the military council.
Theo Magath
The Warrior Unit is under the leadership of Theo Magath, a highranking officer in the Marleyan military. While previously seen using the Warriors as mere tools, he confessed his remorse for his actions to Keith while onboard the Yaegerist’s vessel.
Koslow
He fought with Commander Magath as an informant and advisor, alongside the Warriors, during the war against the Mid-East Allied Forces. Despite fighting alongside Eldian soldiers, he despised them and referred to them as devils.
Warriors
The Marleyan military has a division called the Warrior Unit consisting of Eldian soldiers who possess the powerful abilities of the nine titans. These soldiers undergo intense training to develop their skills, which are utilized in various missions, including covert operations, gathering intelligence, and participating in combat engagements.
Marcel Galliard
Marcel is the older brother of Porco, and the former Jaw Titan, he died protecting Reiner from being eaten by Ymir’s Titan form.
Annie Leonhart
Annie is a former member of the Scout Regiment who suddenly reveals that she possesses the Female Titan. We’ve seen her as a smart character and an outstanding fighter. In her titan form, we’ve witnessed her wrecking severe casualties to the Scout Regiment. Annie is not the only badass anime character with yellow hair!
Reiner Braun
Reiner holds the Armored Titan, a powerful ability that grants him immense strength and durability. He formerly joined the Scout Regiment and is known to be a highly skilled fighter and is often regarded as an aniki-like figure.
Bertholdt Hoover
He possesses the Colossal Titan and is a member of the same titan-shifting trio. His immense size and explosive ability make him useful for destroying walls and decimating structures.
Pieck Finger
She can transform into the Cart Titan, a four-legged Titan which specializes in transportation and carrying heavy loads. In addition, she can wear armor and use weapons.
Porco Galliard
He is also known as the Jaw Titan, with its steel-like jaws, enables him to easily gnaw through hard materials. When he caught a glimpse of Marcel’s confession, he allowed Porco to eat him and saved Reiner instead.
Colt Grice
He is the older brother of Falco Grice and next in line to inherit the Beast Titan. He is a smart man and is often called upon to give tactical advice by Theo Magath. However, during their infiltration of Paradis, Falco accidentally ingests Zeke’s spinal fluid. He pleaded with Zeke for mercy but was not given a chance. In the end, he died holding his brother, comforted by the knowledge that he will always be there for him.
Falco Grice
He is Colt Grice’s younger brother and the next candidate to become the Armored Titan. Despite being known for his gentle and kind nature, tragic circumstances led him to inadvertently kill his brother and devour Porco, causing him to become the new Jaw Titan.
Gabi Braun
She is a close friend of Falco, a cousin of Reiner, and also a candidate to inherit the Armored Titan. She is a brave and cunning woman who possesses excellent marksmanship skills.
Udo
A warrior candidate who served in the Marley Mid-East War and often tended to the wounded. During Eren’s invasion of Marley, a piece of flying debris struck Zofia, and when Udo attempted to save her, he was trampled by Marleyan civilians. Colt and Gabi saved him, and they rushed him to the hospital, but upon arrival, they were refused admission and told that there was no room for him and he was already dead.
Zofia
Zofia is a strong warrior trainee who isn’t easily scared. She doesn’t show her emotions much and can be a bit sarcastic. But even though she’s tough, she cares about her friends. Sadly, during an attack on Marley, a big rock flew through the air and hit her, causing her to lose her life.
Tom Xaver
Known for being a researcher, a fighter, and the previous owner of the Beast Titan, he is also the former mentor of Zeke Yeager and his closest friend.
Zeke Yeager
Zeke Yeager is Eren Yeager’s older half-brother and the current possessor of the Beast Titan. He is renowned for his strategic prowess and ruthless tactics.
Marley Public Security
Eren Kruger
Also known as “The Owl” and the founder of the Restorationists, was the previous holder of the Attack Titan and later chose Grisha Yeager as his successor.
Gross
Gross was a Marleyan military officer who held a strong hatred towards Eldians and even enjoyed killing them. He killed Faye Yeager, Grisha’s sister, who was tragically devoured by dogs.
During the capture of the Eldian resistance group known as the Receptionist, Gross changed his plans when it was Grisha’s turn to be turned into a titan. Instead of turning him, Gross decided to let him fight one of his former comrades. However, when Gross successfully turned the female receptionist into a titan and was tossing Grisha, he was suddenly pushed by Kruger and was immediately devoured by the Titan he had just turned.
Marley Royalty
Lara Tybur
She was the younger sister of Willy Tybur and the previous holder of the Warhammer Titan. She was known for her famous last words “Eren Yeager do you have any last words?”
Willy Tybur
He is an Eldian noble who resides in Marley. Despite being Eldian royalty, he harbors a strong dislike towards his own people and sees their suffering as punishment.
He does not intervene in Marley’s treatment of Eldians within its military. He is portrayed as an honorable and charismatic man who supports the eradication of the Eldian race on Paradis Island. However, after giving a powerful speech, he met his end in the jaws of Eren.
Eldian Royalty
Sina Fritz
She was the youngest daughter of the Founding Titan, Ymir Fritz. She was named after the innermost wall in Paradis, the wall Sina.
Rose Fritz
The second daughter of Founder Ymir. Wall Rose was named after her and serves as the middle wall of the three Titan’s walls.
Maria Fritz
The eldest daughter of Ymir Fritz was honored by naming the outermost wall of the three walls after her, which is Wall Maria. Unfortunately, it was the first wall to fall.
Fritz
Thousands of years ago, he was the king of the former Eldian Empire. When his slave, Ymir, obtained the power of the Titans, he used her as a weapon to conquer his enemies. Later on, he fathered three children with Ymir, and after her death, he ordered his children to eat her in order to obtain the Titan’s power. Thus, they could continue to rule the world with the titan’s power.
Ymir Fritz
The Founding Titan, mother of three, and the first Titan. Ymir was a slave and concubine to the mentally unwell Fritz who was consumed by power and madness. Despite his twisted nature, Ymir still held love for her king.
Hizuru
Kiyomi Azumabito
A member of the Azumabito family and an ambassador of Hizuru, Kiyomi became interested in helping Paradis Island after learning about their valuable resource called iceburst stone. Her family is known for being sensitive to money, and Kiyomi is no exception. Despite her love for wealth, she still cares about her family.
Civilians
Grisha Jaeger
Grisha Yeager was the father of Zeke and Eren Yeager. He was the previous holder of the Attack Titan and a former member of the Eldian Restorationist movement. He married the royalty Dina Fritz and had a child with her. However, Zeke betrayed his parents and the Restorationist members were turned into Titans. It was during this time that he met The Owl, the founder of the rebellion who gave him the power of the Attack Titan.
Grisha left Marley and moved to the walls of Paradis Island, where he worked as a doctor as well. He later married Carla Yeager, and after her death due to titans, he killed the Reiss family to obtain the Founding Titan. Eventually, he passed on his powers to his son Eren.
Carla Jaeger
Carla Yeager was the wife of Grisha and the mother of Eren Yeager. She was a beautiful woman who unfortunately met a tragic end. When the titans breached the walls of Paradis Island, she was buried under the rubble and ultimately eaten by the Smiling Titan.
Mikasa’s mother
She was persecuted by the people of Paradis Island because of her race. Later on, she married a man who had the Ackermann bloodline, which was also despised and hidden at that time. They lived together with their child Mikasa in the mountains for a while. However, while waiting for Doctor Yeager, they were attacked by bandits and both were killed.
Mikasa’s father
At the time, the Ackerman family was being persecuted within the city walls, and Mikasa’s father was unaware of the reason. He later married and lived in the mountains with his wife and their daughter Mikasa. They lived peacefully for a while until they were attacked by a group of bandits while waiting for a doctor. Mikasa’s parents were killed, but Eren arrived in time to help her fight and defeat the bandits, ultimately saving her life.
Kuchel Ackerman
She was an underground entertainer and the younger sister of Kenny Ackerman, as well as the mother of Levi Ackerman. Later on, she became ill and passed away, leaving Kenny to take responsibility for raising Levi. However, Kenny kept his true identity hidden from Levi. After realizing that Levi was capable of protecting himself, Kenny decided to leave him on his own.
Niccolo
He was a former Marleyan Navy member and one of the first to survey the island. However, after he and his comrades were captured, their perspectives changed, and they befriended the people they had once called “devils.” He is now a chef who cooks food for soldiers in Paradis and has fallen in love with our beloved Potato Girl. Unfortunately, he was not given a chance to confess his feelings.
Anti-Marleyan Volunteers
They are a group of former Marleyan soldiers who have turned against their country and joined Zeke Yeager on his mission to liberate the Eldians.
Yelena
She is a faithful follower of Zeke Yeager, seen as a calm and ruthless leader. She has spilled a lot of blood just to complete her missions and advance the organization.
Onyankopon
He is a member of the Anti-Marleyan Volunteers, known for his serious yet friendly personality. Aside from that, he is a great pilot who helped the Scout Regiment escape from Liberio.
Yeagerists
A group of rebel soldiers who consist of Eldian civilians and former soldiers who believed that Eren and Zeke will restore and build the New Eldian Empire.
Floch Forster
He is a former member of the Scout Regiment who was once a coward but had a high respect for great leaders. Later on, he developed into a better character.
He joined the Yeagerists, believing that Eren will rebuild the great Eldian Empire.
Samuel Jackson
He was once a member of the Scouts and is one of the soldiers who supports Eren. He is also one of the soldiers who rebelled and helped Eren break out of prison.
Daz
He was once a member of the Scouts and a former member of the Garrison Regiment. He is known for being an anxious person and a coward, often trying to kill himself and feeling relief when he sees his comrades eaten by Titans instead of him.
However, he has matured a bit and joined the Yeagerists, supporting Eren.
Titans
Sawney and Beane
Sawney and Beane were the first two Titans to have official human-like names. They were captured and experimented on by Hange in order to understand and find out their secrets. However, they were later killed by Annie.
Smiling Titan
Formerly known as Dina Fritz, she was the previous wife of Grisha and mother of Zeke Yeager, as well as the one who killed Carla Yeager. I don’t know, but that seems suspicious to me.
Bearded Titan
This is referring to the Titan who was about to consume Armin, but was saved by Eren, who was then eaten instead. This is also the scene where we see Eren turn into a Titan.
Talking Titan
She is a former member of the cult that worshiped Ymir. One of the most memorable scenes in Attack on Titan is when she encountered Llsa Langar. Instead of attacking and eating her, the titan bowed at her because it believed she was Ymir. However, Llsa asked the titan a question that caused it to feel distressed, and it ended up killing her.
Connie’s Mom
The titan that was stuck in Connie’s house is his mother. During that time, she appeared to recognize her son and began to speak, saying “Welcome home.” This is considered to be one of the creepiest and saddest scenes in AOT.
