THE TRUE KILLER OF DENJI’S FATHER
The one who provided the story is not a reliable source

Two people were at the crime scene when the body of Denji’s father was found. One of them was, of course, Denji himself. Only a kid at the time and shocked to his very core, his memories of that night were fuzzy, to say the least.
The second witness was the Yakuza boss the father was indebted to. He ruled the death as a suicide. Pretty convenient for him since all the father’s debts were automatically transferred to the son.
Denji’s father could’ve died in 146 other ways but we all know that the greedy pig would’ve made it look like a suicide no matter what. But no need to take my word for it, I trust the testimony of the Control Devil in chapter 82 should be enough for our honorable jury.
The Yakuza lied
Let’s bring him in and get some answers out of him. But oops, Denji already got to him in chapter 1, the guy is burning in Hell as we speak.
We hit a dead end. What’s next?
So what’s this? A deadend?
HELL… NO
With no other witnesses to call to the stand how will we be able to put the pieces of the mystery back together?
Introduction of a third witness
Well, fortunately for us, we have something that normal detectives don’t have access to, like supernatural abilities! There is still one place where we can find our answer and that’s inside the shut mind of the boy who was present at the scenes… Denji. All we need is a sneak peek inside his brain.
Yeah, he actually has one.
As we are normal humans, sadly… we are going to have the Control Devil, Makima, consult on this case since she has the very convenient power to read minds. Although I’m pretty sure she will end up using us for her own benefit (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 82).
By completely destroying his livelihood and making him fall into despair after taking back everything she gave him, she managed to rip open the closed door that Denji was so desperately trying to keep locked (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 82)
I don’t know if you realized, but we are about to crack two mysteries for the price of one. I’ve been curious about that weird door from the beginning and I’m sure so were you.
With all the obstacles now pulverized, the truth came to light. On that fateful day, Denji’s father, drunk as always, was more violent, more aggressive than usual.
In a fit of madness, he turned towards his son, ready to kill the little runt. In a desperate act of self-defense, the boy fighting for his life, struck the drunkard killing him on the spot.
All of you are now like “NOOO!!!”
I know what you are all thinking right now… that she might be lying through her teeth. She created the perfect lie that gave her everything she wanted.
Consequences of revealing the truth
After Aki’s death, the murder of Power, and his life falling into chaos, that “Truth” was Denji’s “Coup de Grace”
Now in a vegetative state, he lost all will to fight and was at the mercy of the Control Devil who was waiting patiently for the perfect moment to strike.
Now, wrapped around her fingers, Denji turns into her dog, quite literally, he even knows some tricks!
Well, as much as I would like to conquer this fact, I cannot. Makima revealing what she saw in Denji’s mind was only the trigger to what came next.
See, as she said, a child’s mind is fascinating to say the least. A young Denji, unconsciously trying to save what was left of his sanity, locked all the bad and traumatic memories of his childhood behind a shut door.
Year after year and with the help of his demon partner Pochita, that door stayed closed, but when hit with the truth, when faced with the blunt facts, that door opened and the memories came pouring back into his brain.
Denji didn’t just blindly believe Makima’s words for once, he believed them because it was true and who can be a better witness than the culprit himself.
Makima’s intentions
Didn’t I say that the evil witch was going to use us? Well, I was right. Of course, she didn’t help us with only pure intentions in mind, she had an ulterior motive.
Something that has to do with the grand plan she has been cooking for god knows how many years (Chainsaw Man Manga: Chapter 84).
Conclusion
By destroying Denji’s mind, and breaking his will, she awakened something darker, something stronger. He is a hero and an executioner. He is feared by all devils and yet loved at the same time… He is a savior as well as a destroyer. Who is he?
Now that Denji fell into the trap of Makima, now that he is completely under her control, what is she planning to do with him, or more exactly, what is she planning to do with the “Thing” she just awakened?
But what would Makima use Denji for? You think you know for sure?
