Black Dragons Gang | Tokyo Revengers Wiki
Why was the Tokyo Manji Gang created? Who are they getting stronger for? Well, all of that was because of this gang, the Black Dragons. The Black Dragons arguably became the reason why the founders of Toman continued to become stronger. When these two gangs revealed their fangs, it changed the course of the plot entirely. With that said, let’s take a look at everything you need to know about the Black Dragons.

Background
The Black Dragons were the strongest gang that ruled all of Tokyo during their golden days. As the years passed by, they still are the top dogs in the Kanto Region.
Table of Contents
One interesting fact about the Black Dragons is that the gang progresses by generation. A new generation begins when a new leader takes over and signals a new beginning for the group. The leader may change whatever he wants or may simply leave everything, the previous generation made as is. Their values also change according to the will of the leader of the current generation. For example, the 1st Generation valued honor and morals while others were violent and turned to crime.

History

The Black Dragons were created and founded by the older brother of Mikey, Shinichiro Sano. The 1st Generation began with Shinichiro as well as where the gang was in its prime. Shinichiro Sano lead the gang to a path that avoided committing crimes.
There is no more information up until the 8th Generation where they were being led by Izana Kurokawa. After Izana left, the 9th Generation would be under the control of Shion Madarame and was defeated by the newly-formed Tokyo Manji Gang according to Mitsuya and Kokonoi (Chapter 83, Chapter 105). When Takemichi went to the past, the Black Dragons were in their 10th Generation being led by Taiju Shiba who upholded values opposite to the 1st Generation. The 10th Generation was the most violent and menacing in the gang’s history.
The Black Dragons first appeared in the manga in Chapter 78 which is also the beginning of the Black Dragons Arc, where Takemichi was about to visit Hakkai Shiba’s home. Hajime Kokonoi along with other Black Dragon members threatened Takemichi when they saw him and he was beaten by Taiju (Chapter 79). This will result in Hakkai leaving Toman and joining the Black Dragons to save Takemichi (Chapter 83). As the chapters progressed, a fight broke out between Toman and the Black Dragons resulting in Toman’s victory.
After the conflict, the remnants of the Black Dragons joined Toman, more specifically, the 1st Division. The two executives of the Black Dragons chose this decision and elected Takemichi as the 11th Generation Leader of the Black Dragons (Chapter 111).

Shinichiro became the ideal model of what a delinquent should be and is looked upon by delinquents even in the current generation. While in charge of the Black Dragons, it was said that he controlled all of the delinquents in Tokyo. He would accidentally be killed by Kazutora a few years back.

Izana Kurokawa
Izana Kurokawa was the 8th Generation Leader of the Black Dragons and was also the president of Tenjiku. Izana is also Mikey and Shinichiro’s half-brother and Emma’s blood-sibling. Not much is known about how Izana ruled the Black Dragons during his generation other than he was also regarded as one of the strongest leaders the gang had. Izana had superhuman senses giving him the ability to predict and counter his opponent’s moves.

Taiju Shiba
In the first appearance of the Black Dragons in the Tokyo Revengers series, Taiju Shiba was the current leader of the 10th Generation. When he was in command, he made the Black Dragons a ruthless and evil gang.
His rule would come to an end on Christmas Eve as Takemichi, Mitsuya, Mikey, Draken, Chifuyu, and Hakkai would go against him and the Black Dragons. Taiju is a very violent and strong person who even punched his siblings. He doesn’t care about your gender and even resorted to killing his sister.

Battles

Black Dragons Vs. Toman 1
There has been no information about the first encounter of Toman and the Black Dragons other than it was during the 9th Generation and that the Black Dragons were being led by Shion Madarame. During this fight, Seishu Inui was in reform school and did not participate. According to Kokonoi and Mitsuya, Toman came out victorious (Chapter 83, Chapter 105).
Black Dragons Vs. Toman 2
In their second encounter, the only members of Toman that participated were Mikey, Draken, Takemichi, Hakkai, Mitsuya, and Chifuyu. Kisaki and Hanma would betray Takemichi and Chifuyu as they were the ones that made up the plan to prevent Hakkai from killing Taiju (Chapter 86, Chapter 94).
In this fight, Hakkai and Yazuha would both try to kill Taiju but fail. Takemichi, Chifuyu, and Mitsuya would then go head to head against Taiju, Inui, and Kokonoi and be beaten down several times. In this fight, Takemichi would land a punch on Taiju and make him kneel. As all seemed lost and Takemichi, Chifuyu, and Mitsuya looked like they’d be killed, Mikey came to their rescue and beat Taiju with one kick. Draken also took care of the rest of the Black Dragons and beat all 100 members that surrounded the church (Chapter 106).
When the fighting was coming to an end, Inui and Kokonoi left Taiju, appointed Takemichi as the 11th Generation Leader and joined the Tokyo Manji Gang under the 1st Division (Chapter 107, Chapter 111)
Final Verdict

Just like Baji said, Toman was made to fight against the Black Dragons and they succeeded in all two battles the two gangs had. Kisaki Tetta was also involved in this arc and pulled the strings behind the killing intent of the Shiba siblings.
The Black Dragons lost their honorable past and thus slowly deteriorated. When they were under Shinichiro, they were a respectable and honorable group but they turned sour as the generations passed by. This signifies the importance of leadership in a gang and that the head would always determine its path.
If you look at it closely, the Black Dragons are the future version of Toman where they were corrupted, turned to violence, and strayed from the true path of delinquents. But thanks to the encounter of the two gangs, Mikey finally realized there was darkness growing inside him, and there was evil inside Toman. When the battle of the two gangs ended, was Takemichi able to achieve a better future? Or did everything get worse?
