We will be discussing about a princess by that name from Gate anime. She is one of a kind and for sure you will be eager to know more about her. So, here it goes!
Facts about Princess Piña Colada
Piña Co Lada is a 19-years-old princess. She is the daughter of Emperor Molt Sol Augustus and his concubine called Countess Nell.
Piña Co Lada has two siblings, Zorzal El Caesar and Diabo El Caesar. Her two brothers are currently competing to see who will become the next Emperor.
Not only beautiful, she is also quite strong and this is why she was appointed as the leader of Rose-Order of Knights.
She endured many hardships in her life, however, she never forgot who she really was, a princess who had the duty of protecting her country.
She was young and yet her sense of strategy was innate. She immediately felt like the difference in power between her country and Japan was going to become a threat in the future and thus she started taking countermeasures to avoid the worst.
She formed an alliance with the JSDF to have a shot at stopping the war and at the same time protect the land she calls home.
Personality
Piña Co Lada is a very strict individual however, after meeting Itami who introduced her to the Otaku culture, she learned how to loosen up a bit.
Her country is everything to her. She will stop at nothing to ensure their survival. Befitting the title of Princess she takes her role more than seriously.
She has full faith in her country. Taking into consideration its history, she was sure that no power would ever be able to take them down.
Reality hit her hard since after witnessing the unbelievable strength and influence the JSDF held she thought that if a war was ever to break she would be on the losing side.
She immediately began to investigate the matter and went as far as visiting Japan herself to see with her own eyes how superior Japan was compared to the Empire.
To maintain peace and insure the survival of her people she deemed it more favorable to form an alliance with the country instead of fighting a war lost in advance.
Although she wanted peace, that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to do anything to get the upper hand on Japan.
She started smuggling guns with the help of the gate in order to reverse engineer them and procure powerful weapons for her army.

Her attempt ultimately failed but it was nonetheless a proof of her keen intellect and witty personality (Gate Light Novel: Volume 2 Chapter 22).
She can also be quite cruel. She once led one of the Empire Squadrons on a suicide mission without feeling any kind of guilt since it was for the benefit of her country.
She has changed a lot since her childhood. When she was still a kid, Piña Co Lada was kind and naïve. She was against war and cruelty, she was against death and pain. She hated battle and bloodshed, but just what the world did to the sweet little girl.
History
Piña Co Lada might have been the daughter of a concubine; however, she still ranked 10th on the succession list for the imperial throne.
When she was young she loved to play make-believe with the other noble kids pretending to be members of the “Order of Knights”.
When she became old enough the real training began. Although she was never meant to become a real soldier, her instructors deemed her worthy enough and this is when she was put through a bonafide military training.
She showed unwavering discipline, a strong sense of solidarity. She proved herself to be an independent woman who strongly relied on herself and her abilities.
While all the male trainees ended up as soldiers, she was the only one who actually built her own unit and became the leader of the “Rose-Order of Knights.” She was now ready for battle. She wanted it. She wanted to prove her real worth and she did not disappoint.
Her two older brothers, the ones who were meant to become King actually felt inferior to her. This is how imposing she is. Unfortunately, no matter how proud she was of that fact, it was the jealousy and hate between the children that actually brought down the Empire.
Plot
Piña, terrorized at the idea that her country might fall under the overwhelming power of Japan when to visit Duran.
She wanted some info on the Special Task Force, however, he did not divulge anything to her. The only thing he told her is that the Empire’s current situation was their fault and their fault only.
Without thinking twice, they attacked Japan thinking they had the advantage and made an enemy of such a powerful country.
Frustrated , Piña declared with utmost confidence that her home will not lose this war. Duran laughed, amused by the statement of a desperate princess.
As she was about to leave, he gave her one little hint. He told her that the army that is waiting for them in Alnus isn’t something she saw before. Its power can be compared to the Gods themselves. Her chances of winning are even below 0.
As harsh as those words were, Duran didn’t manage to crush the princess’s confidence
. She left his place and immediately made way to Italica. She had a weird hunch that the enemy would attack this town next.
Now in Italica, she took on the role of provisional leader. Her task for now was to defend the town against the bandits who had their eyes on the city (Gate Anime: Episode 4).
She crushed many invasions and she was now exhausted. To replenish her energy, nothing better than a quick power nap.
She asked the countess to immediately wake her up if anything happens and as expected something did.
Three peculiar women that came in a vehicle she never saw before were parked outside the city gates.
She deduced in a second that they were not enemies and even found a way to gain some additional fire power by letting the strangers into the city thus procuring their assistance in defending the walls.
The time for the battle arrived. The amount of death and destruction was indescribable and no matter her efforts and elaborate plans, Piña was about to lose the fight.
Lucky her, reinforcement came just at the right moment. Joined by the Third Recon Team who even brought Itami with them and the 4th Combat Regiment along Colonel Shunya Kengun, they managed to turn the tables around (Gate Anime: Episode 5).
They saved Italica. The bandits were defeated and she even got some sweet intel on the strength of a Cobra attack helicopter. At the end the only thing she learned is that they were way over their heads especially in terms of technological might (Gate Anime: Episode 6).
The bandits were gone, but they still had the JSDF to fight off. Fortunately they didn’t have to, since they shockingly came with no intention of bloodshed.
While the Princess was concerned she might become the slave of the Japanese, the only thing they asked of her was to exonerate them of tax fees and let them pass through the town free of cost.
It might look like she had a choice in the matter but she did not and was forced to accept their demands.
As her relationship with Japan was hanging by a thin thread she decided to head to the peace negotiations held on enemy territory in person accompanied by Bozes.
Now on the other side of the gate the two girls couldn’t believe the world they were looking at. The building, the technology, it was just astonishing and at the same terrifying. Japan was just that much more advanced than them!
The peace negotiation didn’t improve the Empire situation but at least Piña left with an enhanced relationship with the enemy (Gate Anime: Episode 8).
However, all her efforts will be in vain since the downfall of her country was about to be triggered by the royal family’s inner fighting.
Zorzal, one of her brothers, planned a “Coup d’etat” and dethroned his father. He then threw his sister Piña Co Lada to rot in jail (Gate Anime: Episode 21).
She stayed there for days with no idea if her father was still alive or even if the Empire was still standing until her brother finally called upon her.
She was happy to see that Itami actually came to get her out of her prison and even got to see her father alive and kicking. The former King appoints her as his successor deeming her the only one worthy of the title.
While her brother Zorzal is still determined on fighting a losing battle, she was the only one smart enough to admit their inferiority and tried to make peace with Japan in order to ensure the safekeeping of her people (Gate Anime: Episode 24).
From this day forth Piña Co Lada became the new Empress of the Empire!
Conclusion
If I had to describe Piña Co Lada in a few words, I would say that that girl is a terrific politician as well as an incredible tactician.
She is an incredible swordsman with so much charisma that people can’t help but be attracted to her.
As a Princess or as a soldier she always put the needs of her country before everything, even her own safety.
Down to earth and extremely resourceful I don’t think that anyone else could’ve been more worthy of the title of Empress.
