How to watch Yu Yu Hakusho? That’s the question in people’s minds when they are about to start the series. Like, what should be the watch order of Yu Yu Hakusho, and how can anyone who’s never watched the show even begin to start this masterpiece of a series? Well, where you’re confused about Where To Watch Yu Yu Hakusho or in What Order To Watch Yu Yu Hakusho, I’m here to help you.
My list contains two sections. The first one is the Yu Yu Hakusho Chronological Watch Order and the other one is Yu Yu Hakusho Release Order. So, you can watch it in any order you’d like. I’d personally prefer the chronological watch order since it’s very important to watch the series that way. You’ll not miss any timeline or event, and it becomes rather simpler to follow the flow of the series. You know what I’m saying?

Yu Yu Hakusho Watch Order

Yu Yu Hakusho’s Release Order is very simple. If you keep following their release dates, once a day, you’ll be able to finish the whole thing. The story incorporates Yusuke Urameshi, a delinquent who gets killed in a tragic car accident while saving a kid’s life. Well, Yusuke gets a new chance in life where he’s revived into the underworld and becomes the “Underworld Detective” for that world.
Now, Yusuke must investigate shady cases in which we see demons and other creatures that are trying to destroy the human world. With the power of delinquency and martial arts, will Yusuke be able to save his human world? We’ll have to find out.
Yu Yu Hakusho Anime Release Order
Season 1: Spirit Detective Saga (1992-1993)

Episodes: 1-25
About Season 1:
The Spirit Detective Saga was produced by Fuji Television back in 1992. The Anime version of Yu Yu Hakusho was directed by Noriyuki Abe, and it adapts the first six volumes from the manga in twenty-five episodes. The story incorporates Yusuke Urameshi who’s a teenage delinquent.
One day, he saw a kid almost get hit by a car. Yusuke ran towards the kid to save him however, he got struck by the car and died. That’s where he’s revived as a Spirit Detective in this world where he must fight the demons to save his human world.
There are two theme songs used in this season. The opening theme is called “Hohoemi No Bakudan” or “Smile Bomb”. The closing theme is called “Homework ga Owaranai” or “The Homework Never Ends.”
Season 2: Dark Tournament Saga (1993-1994)

Episodes: 26-66
About Season 2:
From episodes 22-66, we have Dark Tournament Saga. This saga ran from April 17, 1993, to January 29, 1994. I must say, they released a lot of episodes in just a year. This season includes six to thirteen volumes of the manga, making it a very important saga. I still remember that this season was pretty darn intense. Dark Tournament Saga includes Yusuke Urameshi taking part in the Dark Tournament.
As he’s a spirit detective, it’s obligatory for Yusuke to take part in this tournament where he’ll fight demons and other supernatural beings. The conclusion is to find out who’s the strongest living being in the world. Will Yusuke be able to handle the heat while saving everyone around him? You’ll need to watch the series to find out.
Season 3: Chapter Black Saga (1994)

About Season 3:
The third season of Yu Yu Hakusho is the Chapter Black Saga. This time, the season includes chapters thirteen to seventeen. In this season, Yusuke fights another spirit detective called Shinobu Sensui.
Who is this “former” spirit detective and what does he want from our MC? Shinobu Sensui wants to open a gate for all the monsters and supernatural entities, however, Yusuke wants to protect all the people around him. Who’ll succeed in his mission? You’ll have to find that out.
Season 4: Three Kings Saga (1994)

Episodes: 95-112
About Season 4:
The last season of Yu Yu Hakusho is indeed an interesting one. Also known as Saga of the Three Kings, the English Dubbed episodes of this season were released by Funimation itself. It also covers manga volumes from seventeen to nineteen, making the whole season eighteen episodes long.
In this season, Yusuke goes on a journey to meet his demon ancestor so that he can resolve the messed-up political situation in Makai. Who’s the demon ancestor and will Yusuke be able to solve the problems around him? We’ll need to find that out.
Aside from the storyline for season 4, we also have a Blu-Ray version that was released by Funimation on November 29, 2011.
Yu Yu Hakusho Movies Watch Order
Yu Yu Hakusho: The Golden Seal (Movie)

Movie Storyline:
The Golden Seal is a 24-minute movie that was released on July 10, 1993, in Japan. It was directed by yours truly, Noriyuki Abe. The story incorporates Koenma getting kidnapped while on a vacation.
Two demons named Kaoshura and Garuga want Lord Enma’s Golden Seal.” Things get pretty intense and Botan finds Yusuke and Kazuma who were also having fun on the vacation. Now, they find to make a plan and find Koenma while eradicating the two demons.
Yu Yu Hakusho the Movie: Poltergeist Report

Release Date: April 19, 1994
Duration: 1 Hour 34 Minutes
Movie Storyline:
The second movie of Yu u Hakusho is known as Poltergeist Report and it was released on April 19, 1994, in Japan. It’s a 1-hour 34-minute movie full of action. The plot starts in the Spirit world. River Styx is overflowing, thanks to the tsunami and Koenma knows that this is not a normal storm. After some time, the water continues to go up and it becomes too much for Koenma.
He sends a mystery item to the MC, Yusuke, but she gets beat up and barely makes it to Yusuke. Now, Yusuke must find the core of this problem and fix it so the Spirit World is restored back to normal. What evils are waiting for him? You’ll have to watch the movie to find out!

Yu Yu Hakusho: Mu Mu Hakusho - Nightmare Hakusho

OVA Storyline:
This OVA includes 4 episodes with Yusuke’s nightmare. What do these nightmares mean for the spirit world and what must be done to restore the balance? This OVA is important for the storyline too.

Yu Yu Hakusho’s Recommended Watch Order

Honestly, if you ask me, you can either follow the chronological order I’ve added above or just follow the release order. Both will work. If you want a stress-free and straightforward experience, then the release order is better.
On the other hand, if you want a watching experience that’s full of thrill and true to the actual storyline, then you have the option to choose Chronological Watch Order. It’s your personal preference, my dude. You can choose whichever option you like. JUST START THE SERIES BECAUSE IT’S WAY TOO GOOD!
Is Yu Yu Hakusho Complete?

Yu Yu Hakusho is an old series. It’s an action-packed adventure series that is full of thrill even for today’s world. It’s one of the best Anime to ever hit the market. If we talk about whether Yu Yu Hakusho is complete or not, my answer would be, YES!
