Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann History
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann’s anime series was released in April 2007 and ended in September 2007. The anime series had a total of 27 episodes. It was written by Kazuki Nakashima and directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi. A manga adaptation of the anime was released between 2007 to 2013. A total of 10 manga volumes were released. Four light novels were also released between 2007 and 2008 and were published by Shogakukan. Two animated movies were released in September 2008 and April 2009 respectively.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Story
TTGL introduces us to Simon and Kamina who grew up in an underground village that was hidden from the surface. Kamina is a passionate guy who wants to be famous and do something great. Simon is a shy and timid boy who really doesn’t have a goal in life. One day, Simon comes across a strange object that is apparently the key to some giant robot. Both Simon and Kamina are able to protect themselves from a sudden enemy attack. They also got help from Yoko Littner who was a wielder of a massive gun. The three of them decide to explore the world above more. They end up knowing about certain Beastmen that operated giant robots and were wreaking havoc for the humans that were left. Now, it is up to Simon, Kamina and Yoko to keep the Wasteland safe and away from the hands of these brutal Beastmen.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Characters
Simon
Simon is a tender and polite guy who was initially bashful and shy. However, he became quite brave and helpful as the series progressed. He felt responsible for the safety of his loved ones so he had to come out of his safe bubble and become more bold.
Between Simon and Kamina, Simon is the more rational one and often thinks before doing anything. He also pushes Kamina to stop making irrational decisions or else he would get himself killed.
Simon is prone to jealousy and becomes heartbroken when he sees Yoko kissing Kamina. It affected him physically and he couldn’t really focus on the battle he was fighting.
As the series progressed, Simon grew depressed and isolated because of some major event. However, he had to lift himself up as he had the responsibility to protect his loved ones. He always prioritizes others’ safety over his own and is caring towards his crewmates.

Kamina
Kamina appears to be an energetic and over-zealous guy who wants to change the world. He also appears to be arrogant and is over-confident about his skills. He’s also shown to be determined and never backs down no matter what. He will do anything for his loved ones and will protect them with all his might.
Kamina can be irrational sometimes. He becomes very impatient and often makes hasty decisions that land him in difficult situations. However, he is also quite intelligent. He just doesn’t show it. But he mostly appears stupid, not caring about his own life. Even though he appears like a true hero, he believes that people like Simon are true heroes. Overall, Kamina is a good-natured guy but a little over-confident and dumb.
Yoko Littner
Yoko appears to be a very wise lady who is knowledgeable about a lot of things. She’s also very kind and caring but becomes impatient and irritable, especially when dealing with those not listening to her. She also becomes impatient and rough with Kamina because she can’t deal with his stupidity.
Yoko is a level-headed person who can solve almost all issues by herself. She’s also very confident in her combat skills as She handles her rifle well.
She never makes hasty decisions and has a habit of thinking before acting. That’s why she doesn’t get Kamina’s way of doing things. Like Simon and Kamina, Yoko is also very caring about her loved ones. She’s also very protective of them.
Initially, Yoko is not very fond of Simon because of his underconfident nature. She didn’t really understand why Kamina looked up to Simon but she later became close to him and acknowledged his abilities.
Nia
Despite appearing to be fragile, Nia is a very brave person who does not hesitate putting herself in danger in order to protect her loved ones. She started admiring and putting her faith in Simon. Overall, Nia is a very sweet and helpful girl who can also become tough at times.
