Digimon Adventure Season 1 (1999-2000)

digimon adventure

Seven children are transferred into the Digital World on August 1, 1999 by Digivices who appear before them during summer camp, where they befriend various Digimon (Digital Monsters). The children’s Digivices enable their Digimon partners to Digivolve into stronger forms and fight off foes.

While searching for a route home, the youngsters discover that they are “DigiDestined,” children chosen to preserve the Digital World. The DigiDestined are pursued by a demonic Digimon named Devimon, who utilizes black gears to corrupt numerous Digimon into assaulting the group on their quest.

After beating Devimon, Gennai contacts the DigiDestined and instructs them to travel to the Server Continent in order to gather relics known as Crests that would allow their Digimon companions to Digivolve into their Ultimate forms.

So, as we all know, the first season is always going to be about “it’s all about how everything started”. You know what? I want to be in the Digimon world, it’s just so cool, you know.

Digimon Adventure Season 2 (2000-2001)

Digimon

Four years after the activities of Digimon Adventure, the Digital World is invaded by the Digimon Emperor who’s enslaving Digimon with the Dark Rings, at the same time as constructing Control Spires that negate Digivolution. To combat him, 3 new DigiDestined are recruited, each gaining a historic Digimon for a partner.

The 3, at the side of T.K. and Kari, each owns a D-3, a brand-new kind of Digivice that lets them open a gate that sends them to the Digital World through any computer. They are also handed D-Terminals with Crest-themed Digi-Eggs, which allow their Digimon companions to undergo Armor Digivolution in order to combat the presence of Control Spires. The Digimon Emperor flees to the Digital World, only to be discovered to be the young prodigy, Ken Ichijoji. The DigiDestined defeat Ken with the help of Ken’s buddy, Wormmon. Davis, Yolei, and Cody enable normal Digivolution while the DigiDestined reconstruct the Digital World.

At the same time, they join forces with a restored Ken to combat Arukenimon, a Digimon that resurrects the Control Spires as other Digimon. When the Control Spire Digimon outperforms them, the DigiDestined learn DNA Digivolution, which allows two champion-level Digimon to join to form a stronger ultimate-level Digimon.

When Arukenimon produces BlackWarGreymon, he begins destroying each Destiny Stone in the hopes of defeating Azulongmon, who appears when each Stone is destroyed. Azulongmon alerts the DigiDestined of an imminent threat after BlackWarGreymon escapes.

Digimon Tamers (2001-2002)

digimon tamers

Takato Matsuki, a Digimon card game aficionado, discovers a Blue Card that turns his card reader into a D-Power Digivice. When his D-Power scans his drawings, his original Digimon invention, Guilmon, comes to life.

Takato meets Henry Wong and Rika Nonaka, two other kids who are friends with Terriermon and Renamon, as well as Calumon and Impmon. The Tamers battle the wild Digimon who have been wandering Shinjuku and defend the city.

The Tamers can Digi-modify or aid them in Digivolve by using their D-Powers to scan cards. When the Devas invaded the Real World, the Tamers began to collaborate with Hypnos. Calumon is kidnapped by the Devas, and the Tamers pursue him to the Digital World in order to save him.

Jeri Kato becomes depressed as Impmon turns on her, attacks the Tamers and kills Leomon. When resolving disputes with the Digimon Sovereigns, the Tamers discover that the Digimon are defending themselves against humans and the Real World, after the Digital World is invaded by the D-Reaper, a rogue clean-up software.

Digimon Frontier (2002-2003)

digimon frontier

The five DigiDestined locate their unique Human Spirits and combine with them in order to “Spirit Evolve” into Digimon. They encounter five other Legendary Warriors who serve Cherubimon while searching for their Beast Spirits. Koji observes Cherubimon and Koichi confronting them after beating them (the rest of them destroy one and Koji obtains another Beast Spirit).

Takuya and his pals let Koichi free, restore his power, and invite him to join them. They come to Ophanimon’s aid. She does, however, make a sacrifice in order to save them. Ophanimon uses the last of her strength to enhance Takuya and Koji’s D-Sectors, allowing them to Unity Spirit Evolve.

After defeating Cherubimon, the DigiDestined discover that Lucemon is imprisoned within the core of the Digital World. Dynamo and Crusadermon, two Royal Knights, steal all the world’s data in order to awaken Lucemon. Takuya and Koji defeat the knights while scanning the Digital World.

Digimon Data Squad (Digimon Savers) (2006-2007)

digimon data squad

(DATS) or The Digital Accident Tactics Squad is a government department tasked with keeping the peace between both the Real and Digital Worlds by transferring any Digimon back to the latter. Marcus, a junior high school student, joins the group as one of its members. He discovers that the Digimon, Merukimon, is working against humanity. However, it has been revealed in the past that scientist Akihiro Kurata was the one who infiltrated the Digital World.

He was able to persuade the authorities to oppose all Digimon species, alleging that they posed a threat to humanity. Marcus overcomes Kurata when he summons Belphemon. Kurata uses a bomb to unite the Digital World with the Human World before he dies.

While the Digimon BanchoLeomon keeps the collision from happening, Marcus encounters King Drasil (Yggdrasil), the supreme monarch who tries to defend the Digital World by annihilating humans because they can’t live in both dimensions.

Marcus discovers that his father, Spencer, was imprisoned in the Digital World for 10 years due to Drasil’s possession of Spencer’s body and BanchoLeomon’s possession of Spencer’s spirit. Spencer’s spirit returns to his body after Marcus beats Drasil. All Digimon partners return to their own planet, now that both worlds have been repaired.
