For those of you who don’t know, Castlevania is a series of video games by Konami about vampires and their bloodlines. Yep, that’s about it. The dark fantasy and action game was adapted into an anime in 2017 and has four seasons in total. Usually, anime adapted from light novels and video games don’t do justice to their origins. However, Castlevania proved that wrong and made us look forward to every anime series that gets adapted from a light novel or a video game.
The first season of Castlevania follows the story of the third game, Dracula’s Curse. The second one features the story of Castlevania: Curse of Darkness and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. The watch order of Castlevania is not so complicated. There are only four seasons and the anime series has ended already. Let’s talk more about Castlevania’s seasons down below.

1. Castelvania Season 1
Castlevania Season 1 came out in 2017. The story takes us to 1455 Wallachia where Lisa, a young woman, wishes to be a doctor and asks the vampire, Vlad Dracula Tepes, to help her out. Dracula agrees to help her. The two slowly fall in love with each other and decide to marry.
Twenty years later, Lisa is burnt at a stake because she was accused of doing witchcraft. Dracula got extremely furious and gave the people of Wallachia a year to make things right. As promised, after a year, Dracula unleashes his army of night creatures upon Wallachia and there’s chaos everywhere.
We’re then introduced to Trevor Belmont who is staying in the city of Gresit. The corrupt priests blame the “Speakers” for everything that’s happening with them. Trevor comes across a Speaker and saves him from priests and tells him to leave that place. He tells Trevor that he can’t leave as his grandchild is missing. His grandchild is in the city of a legendary hero who could possibly defeat Dracula. Trevor decides to help him find his grandchild.
After having a battle with a cyclops, Trevor is able to find the Speaker’s grandchild, Sypha Belnades. Trevor is then summoned by the same bishop who ordered Lisa’s execution. He wants to kill the Speaker and tells Trevor to leave the city. Trevor hides both the Speaker and Sypha inside the chamber of the Cyclops.
Night falls and the Night Creatures appear. Trevor is in trouble but Sypha is there to help him. She’s a powerful magic user which is a great shock to Trevor. Trevor and Sypha are led to the “sleeping soldier” named Alucard as the ground beneath them crumbles. Alucard is still recovering from his battle with Dracula that happened a year ago. He decides to help both Trevor and Sypha in order to stop Dracula from destroying everything.
2. Castlevania Season 2
This season came out in 2018 and opens with Dracula deciding to put human necromancers named Isaac and Hector in charge of the war. His councilmen are not happy with his decision but Dracula can feel in them an equal amount of hatred for humanity.
Trevor, Sypha and Alucard are travelling to the Belmont estate when they’re attacked by the demons. They kill all of them except one who manages to escape but dies later. The information Isaac extracted from the dead demons reveals that Alucard is back and is helping a Belmont.
Trevor’s group arrives at an underground library where they discover a lot of weapons.
There is uneasiness between Dracula’s army. A few of them don’t trust each other and a few of them are not happy with Dracula’s plans. In the library, the group is under attack by the night creatures. Trevor is fighting off the demons while Sypha is trying to control the mechanisms of Dracula’s castle. She’s successful in locating the castle just above the library.
They go into the castle and kill the remaining vampires. They then find Dracula and start attacking him. Dracula, however, is too overpowered. But Dracula can’t fight his son and allows him to kill him. Alucard kills Dracula but is really upset about it. Trevor assures Alucard that he did the right thing. Isaac is creating his own army of night creatures which means that the trouble hasn’t ended just yet. Sypha and Trevor leave Alucard in the library and leave for the town.
3. Castelvania Season 3
Season 3 of Castlevania came out in 2020. Dracula is dead but the danger isn’t. Trevor and Sypha are still fighting evil forces, trying to destroy their roots. While travelling, they arrive at the town of Lindenfeld where they meet Saint Germain, a traveller who had been watching closely a cult that worships Dracula.
The necromancers Isaac and Hector are on their separate ways. Isaac now has his army of night creatures and wants to take revenge for Dracula’s death. Hector, on the other hand, is working under Carmilla, the Vampire Queen of Styria, as a slave.
Alucard is feeling lonely in the isolated castle of his father. He comes across a bunch of vampire hunters who came there from a faraway land. Will they be able to rid Alucard of his loneliness or cause him even more distress?
4. Castlevania Season 4
Castlevania Season 4 is the final season of Castlevania and it came out in 2021. After the battle of Lindenfled things seem to be back to normal, except they’re not. Trevor and Sypha are in the city where Dracula started the war. Alucard is ready to live his new life and now has a new goal as well. However, there is a big threat that the group has to face. They must regroup to save humanity once and for all.
