Raze is one of the main agents available in Valorant. She was one of the first agents available on launch and makes up a key part of the roster. She is part of the duelist class.

Appearance

There are no agent skins in Valorant, hence Raze only ever wears one outfit. She wears a small, black vest over what appears to be a pair of matching black cargo pants. These are just the surface level details, however.
Table of Contents
Raze is a demolitions expert, and her design makes this apparent. She has three grenades strapped to her waist. Her front vest has the word ‘Boom’ scrawled over it. Further, in much of her official art, she is seen carrying a large rocket launcher across her back. Every part of her character design helps sell the fantasy.
One of the most distinctive things about agents in Valorant are their hands and Raze is no different. She wears a pair of black, finger-less gloves that have many of the same kinds of buttons that the rest of her outfit does.

Strengths and Skills

Like all other agents, Raze has one signature ability, two basic abilities and an ultimate. Raze is a duelist, which means her primary goal is to get onto a site first so that her team can follow. Unlike many other duelists however, Raze is more focused on info gathering, In this, she fulfills her own unique niche in the Valorant roster.

Paint Shells - Refresh On Two kills
Raze can throw a grenade at her target. After an initial explosion, this grenade will break apart into smaller grenades. These smaller grenades cover a wider area before exploding. If Raze tries to throw her grenade particularly far, it will explode midair, and the smaller grenades will fall to the ground before exploding.
This ability is quite deadly. Anyone caught in it will take hefty damage, if not outright dying. Usually this ability is used more to check corners, owing to how dangerous it is.

Boombot
Raze releases a small explosive roomba that heads in a straight line. It deflects off a wall and keeps moving farther. If it has line of sight with an enemy, it makes a sound, before speeding towards them. When it reaches them, it explodes.
This ability is rarely ever used for its damage. It is mostly used as a scouting tool, allowing Raze to safely check multiple corners at once. It is also something used as a distraction, where Raze will run behind her boombot and kill anyone too distracted to pay much attention to her.

Blast Pack
Raze has two explosive satchels she can throw and detonate over a small distance. These satchels break other agent abilities such as Cypher tripwires. Moreover, they deal damage to enemy agents.
The much more prominent use of these Satchels is Raze being able to use them to propel her forward at high speed. She can detonate them underneath her to get into unexpected positions, helping her fulfill her role as a duelist. It is used rather similarly to a Jett dash but allows to get into positions even Jett would have a hard time quickly reaching.
When Raze is in the middle of a satchel, enemies can briefly hear the sound of her moving and cutting through the wind. This is the only hint they get before Raze is right on top of them.

Showstopper
Raze takes out a large Rocket Launcher. This is an install kill within a certain radius, and deals a large amount of splash damage in an area. Combined with her blast packs, it makes for a deadly combo. This ultimate, while simple, is also one of the most infamous abilities in the entire game.
Facts

- In the first versions of the game. Raze used to have two grenades. This was quickly reigned in for the one she has today.
- Raze’s blastpacks used to deal 75 damage to enemies. Combining both would kill any agent before this damage was nerfed.
- Raze’s blastpacks could both combine to instantly destroy Sage’s wall. This was also nerfed.
- Raze’s ult used to cost only 6 ult points, in favor of the 8 it costs now.
- Raze’s blastpacks were never intended to be used for mobility, as seen in the earliest trailers of the game. This is a new dimension found and pioneered by the Valorant community.
Background - Synopsis

Like most Valorant agents, not too much is known about Raze and her past. We did get a few details in the ‘Raze: The Color of the Town’ Cinematic. Here, we can see Raze repairing one of Killjoy’s alarm bots before she has to go out on a mission. This confirms the link between her and Killjoy -mainly that her abilities are all an extension of Killjoy technology. Other than that, Raze is from Brazil, with many of her voice lines confirming that fact.
Voice Actors

Raze is voiced by Carolina Ravassa, a columbian actress and producer. This isn’t her only role in the video game industry. Among other things, you might hear her voice in games like Cyberpunk 2077 or Just Cause 4. She also voices the character Sombra from Overwatch.
Quotes:
- “Just me, my squad-zinho, and a few tons of dynamite. There’s nothing we can’t do!”
- “None of my stuff has malfunctioned yet. Can we celebrate that?”
- “Okay I only have like, seventy eight grenades left. Hopefully that’s enough.”
- “Anyone have any splints? I may have jammed my fin-gersss…multiple fingers…”
- “Paint? Check. Charges? Check. Brakes? *chuckles* Nowhere in sight”
- “Ha! I try to stay serious here, but…this is just so much fun”
Conclusion

Despite being one of the first agents released in Valorant, it is obvious that she is just as important now as she was at the game’s launch. Whether it be players finding new things with her blast pack, riot releasing more tidbits about her lore or her rocket needing another nerf, Raze will be relevant for a long time to come.
