The Tokyo Revengers series has a lot of shocking moments that leave you thinking “what the hell just happened!?”. Not only does it happen when Takemichi time leaps, but there are also some mind-boggling scenes in the past. This time my lovable weebs, I’ll be giving you the 5 greatest plot twists in the series, with spoilers of course.

5. Kisaki’s Death
In this scene, Kisaki stopped running when he was being chased and accused as a time leaper by Takemichi. He then stops in the middle of the road. As Kisaki was about to answer Takemichi’s question, a truck suddenly runs over him. Kisaki regained consciousness with both his arms and legs broken, he lets out his last scream of pain before slumping lifeless and telling himself “I don’t want to die” (Chapter 184, Chapter 185).
This is probably one of the most shocking twists in the series. Kisaki, the main antagonist and the one behind Hinata’s repeating murders, gets killed in one of the most unexpected and gruesome ways imaginable. He may be the most annoying villain, but he was just a kid and him dying like that rocked every reader to their core. But we don’t know, maybe Kisaki got Isekai’d into another world. Truck-kun struck once more.

4. Mikey Disbands Toman
After the Kanto Uprising that left 3 dead, which are Emma, Izana, and Kisaki as well as 5 others arrested, anyone would presume that the future is now safe and Takemichi completed his mission (Chapter 185). What we didn’t know, was that Toman would be disbanded by Mikey considering it as the best decision to ensure a good future (Chapter 188).
The atmosphere felt that as if Toman was still going to live until the future and Takemichi would be the one on top as Mikey even told him that it was Takemichi’s era. But it was a big slap in the face for fans when Mikey said that it was the end for Toman (Chapter 188, Chapter 189).
I admit it! I cried like a baby when I read it because it hit me right in the heart. Everything that Mikey said was soul-crushing and yet so beautiful. I promise you that if you saw that scene where everyone yells “Toman!”, you’ll get goosebumps that will move you to tears. Everything that Takemichi did lead to this moment and Mikey made the greatest sacrifice.

3. Takemichi Loses The Ability To Time Leap
After Toman disbanded, Takemichi went to the present and arrived at Pah-Chin’s wedding. Every one of his friends from Toman was there, and they lived lives that they were proud of. Hina was also there and they had a lot of fun as Takemichi finally accomplished his mission (Chapter 193). However, someone was missing, Mikey.
Takemichi eventually found out that Mikey is the leader of Bonten, the biggest criminal organization in Japan (Chapter 195). He convinced Naoto that he wants to go to the past and find out what went wrong, they shook hands, but nothing happened (Chapter 197).
Takemichi failing to save Baji and Emma in the past? Yes, that’s terrible. But Takemichi losing the ability to time leap is a problem within a league of its own. The Tokyo Revengers series’ plot was built around his ability to go back to the past and future, but when that disappears, what left is there? I won’t tell you why he lost it or what will happen next, but believe me, this time memories of the past will come flooding back.

2. Izana saves Kakucho
Izana suddenly points up a gun at Mikey after losing to him but Kakucho goes against him for the first time. A servant goes against his king. This moment ruined Kisaki’s plan and he shot Kakucho (Chapter 175). Kakucho then charges at Kisaki but suddenly Izana dives in front of him and catches every shot fired. As the two lay down in a puddle of blood, Izana becomes more honest with himself telling Kakucho that he’s the only one he has (Chapter 176).
This plot twist is one of the most touching moments in the Tokyo Revengers series. A once ruthless king, now in his last breath, acknowledges the love he has for his servant. Every villain has a backstory and those two shared everything. Their bond as orphans solidified their trust for each other. When cold-hearted characters have a change of heart, you can’t help but get caught in the moment.

1. Yuzuha Stabs Taiju
If you’ve read the manga you’ll know that this was the biggest twist in the Black Dragons Arc. When Hakkai failed to stab Taiju and Taiju strangled Takemichi, all of a sudden Yuzuha appears out of nowhere and drives a knife in Taiju’s back (Chapter 93, Chapter 94). I’ll stop here because I want to torment you into wondering what happened next, that is if you haven’t read the Black Dragons Arc or just watch the anime adaptation.
The last panel of this chapter just shows Hakkai kneeling and in front of him is Yuzuha stabbing Taiju from behind while he lifts Takemichi with a single hand (Chapter 94). The bloody path of the Shiba siblings shined in this incident.
You can’t blame their decisions though, they were being manipulated by Kisaki and they had to suffer under Taiju’s abuse. I wouldn’t want to sleep over at their house, I’ll probably die in just 2 minutes after I step in.

Final Verdict
When you read Tokyo Revengers it is one heck of a roller coaster ride. In one moment you think that everything’s back to normal and the next someone dies a horrible death. The plot twists are amazing as if they came from the mind of a story writing genius…well they do. With great imagination comes a greater series.
