Saddest Moments in To Your Eternity

12. When Todo Got Stabbed

todo

Todo is Prince Bonchein’s loyal servant. She even acts as his seat all the time and gets ecstatic whenever Prince Bonchien sits on her back. Initially, all of us thought that Todo was a boy. She was actually disguised as a boy in order to serve the prince and remain close to him at all times. In short, she was in love with Prince Bonchien. Todo is such a lovable character that all of us grew fond of her as soon as we saw her. Just like every other lovable character from To Your Eternity that we start liking, she was attempted to be taken away from us. She acted as Prince Bonchien’s shield and took a hit for him. This happened in Episode 6 of the second season of To Your Eternity.

11. Pioran Following Fushi

pioran

All of us had bittersweet feelings toward Pioran. She initially appeared to be an evil old shaman but all of us started liking her and sympathizing with her slowly. Initially, she used to be irritable, brash and easily frustrated, just like every other old woman. But she was the one who taught Fushi to read and write. This was after Pioran started following Fushi. This happened in Episode 20 of season 1 of To Your Eternity. Fushi was already dealing with the loss of Gugu, blaming himself for his death. He then left everyone behind and started his journey alone. But Pioran starts following him and upon questioning her, Pioran answers that she wants to spend the rest of her days with her grandson. It’s such a bittersweet moment and their reunion is extremely emotional.

He’s the first person that Fushi encountered ever since his existence. Nobody knows his name so we’ll refer to him as the nameless boy. He appeared to be living alone on a snowy mountain with his pet wolf named Joaan. It is revealed that almost all of the villagers from his village had departed in order to look for the land beyond the mountains. They were seeking warmth and plenty of food.

Only the unnamed boy was left behind with Joann. Now, he wants to follow the path of his villagers and is pretty optimistic about going beyond the snowy mountains. By the time he is ready to depart, Fushi transforms into Joann as he had already died. The unnamed boy starts his journey and despite getting lost multiple times, he still pushes himself to travel.

He injured his leg while traveling but that didn’t stop him either. In the end, reality hit him and he realized that none of the villagers were able to go beyond the icy mountains. But he still passed away with a smile on his face. It was one of the most heart-breaking in the series and it was only the first episode when all of this happened.

9. When Parona Grieves

parona

Parona was a courageous young woman who knew no fear. She was a free spirit and lived her life the way she wanted. She despised the sacrificial ceremony of young girls and decided not to let March become a victim of it.

She single-handedly did everything she could to save March but in the end, it was March who protected her and died while doing that. Parona could not recover from it. She wants to “follow” her dead sister and attempts to stab herself in the throat.

March’s spirit who was witnessing all of it wanted her to stop but wasn’t able to do much. It was Fushi who stopped her from killing herself. The expressions on Fushi’s face were extremely painful and heart-wrenching. This happened in Episode 5 of Season 1.

8. Tonari’s Death

tonari

Tonari was a clever young girl from Jananda. She had always been active, cunning, and manipulative. She’s not someone to be tricked easily. She was left alone when her friends died at the hands of Nokkers. Fushi left as well because he didn’t want Tonari to get killed because of her. Decades later, Tonari is reunited with Fushi but Fushi has no idea about her identity.

She had been ingesting different types of toxins and drugs in order to get immune to them and that’s what helped Fushi. However, she met her ultimate demise after getting attacked by a Nokker.

Before dying, Tonari asked Fushi what kind of a girl Tonari was back at Jananda. Fushi tells her that she was unbearable but he made a lot of friends because of her and he cherished her dearly. Tonari smiles after hearing that and passes away peacefully. It was only when Fushi turned into her that he realized that it was actually Tonari’s body. This happened in Episode 2 of Season 2.

7. When Gugu Protects Rean

gugu and rean

Gugu had always helped those in need and for Rean, he was willing to sacrifice himself. It’s a fact that all of us shipped Gugu and Rena and wanted them to end up together. However, we never really witnessed that. After getting attacked by the Nokkers, both Gugu and Rean were cornered. It was the only time when they were so close together.

Gugu was protecting Rean from getting crushed under the broken walls. He took all the weight on his back. That’s when Gugu confesses to Rean and Rean kisses him. After that, Gugu dies and Fushi feels his pain after getting turned into him. This was the moment when all To Your Eternity fans cried. Gugu deserved much better than this horrific fate. This happened in Episode 11 of Season 1.

6. Fushi turning into Parona

periona

Fushi keeps experiencing a lot of pain and trauma. It’s back-to-back and not stopping at all. After getting stuck at Jananda Island, his pain increases and he wants to live a normal life as a human as well as fulfill his purpose as an immortal. He remembers the words “purpose of life and death” and suddenly it triggers a memory. That’s when he turns into Parona and is shocked to know that she couldn’t survive as well. This happened in Episode 14 of Season 1.  It is revealed that Hayase was behind all of this and our anger for Hayase increases.

5. Gugu’s well-wishers Grieving

02

Gugu was always a lonely boy. He was bullied because of the mask he wore. He couldn’t take off his mask because his face had been destroyed when he was trying to protect Rean. His own brother betrayed him for some money. The booze man was the only one who stood by him and took care of him. But he was also harsh sometimes. However, after Gugu died, we could see all of his well-wishers including his brother, Fushi, the booze man, and Pioran grieving together. Gugu’s spirit was watching all of that and was happy that all of these people actually cared about him. This happened in Episode 11 of Season 1.

4. Tonari’s Friends Turning into Knockers

jananda

Janada Island was nothing but chaos. A sudden outbreak of Nokkers turned everything upside down on the island and was slowly converting every human being into Nokkers, even the dead ones. Tonari and her friends were trying their best to fight the Nokkers. However, the Nokkers targeted her friends one by one. All of Tonari’s friends except Sandel were infested with the Nokkers in front of her. She lost them one by one right in front of her eyes. It was so heartbreaking to see Tonari having to leave her friends behind in order to survive. This happened in Episode 19 of Season 1.

3. Pioran’s Death

pioran 1

Pioran had grown extremely old. She was pleased to be reunited with Fushi but Fushi was trying to avoid her because he didn’t want her to die because of him. But Pioran never left his trail. Pioran fell ill and Fushi took care of her till the end. In her final moments, Pioran saw herself as a young woman walking freely for the first time. She passed away happily but it was so heart-wrenching to see another loss of someone close to Fushi. The good thing is that she was not killed by the Nokkers and died a natural death. She dies in Episode 20, which is the last episode of season 1.

2. March’s Passing

march

March wanted to become a mom when she grew up. Parona and Pioran were telling March that she’ll be able to learn a lot of different things before becoming a mom. That’s when Hayase and her soldiers attacked them. March knew that Hayase would kill Parona. She wanted to help her sister and she actually did, by sacrificing herself. It is so frustrating to see that all of them were very close to escaping and could’ve avoided March’s death. This makes us hate Hayase even more. But someone as innocent and as pure as March getting killed wrongfully away was not something we were anticipating. She passed away in Episode 5 of Season 1.
