5+ Strongest Golden Kamuy Characters

Golden Kamuy is one of the most underrated anime. Mesmerizing animation, great fight scenes, and some insane plot twists! This show has it all. I still don’t understand why people aren’t talking about it. It should be appreciated more. 

Golden Kamuy doesn’t feature characters with superpowers. All of the characters are human, and their abilities are quite realistic. In this blog, we’ll be talking about some of the strongest Golden Kamuy characters.

We’ll be judging the characters based on their intelligence, survival skills, and ofc physical strength.

6. Sofia Golden Hand

The next character to feature on this list is Sofia Golden Hand. She serves as the leader of the Russian revolutionary Movement and is pretty close to Wink and Kiroranke. Sofia is a fierce and courageous woman. 

She cares a lot about her men and would do anything to protect them. She would never abandon her people. Sofia is not afraid to commit atrocious crimes in order to fund her organization. 

Let’s just talk about her strengths. Even though she is pretty old, I wouldn’t underestimate her in the slightest. She is one of the strongest characters in the anime. Well ofc, she is not on the level of Sugimoto and Ushiyama. She is strong enough to take on a tiger on her own (Manga Chapter 181). Her expertise in weapon usage is also worth mentioning. 

Sofia’s strong mentality and fortitude definitely earn her a position on this list.

5. Genjirou Tanigaki 

Genjiro Tanigaki of the 7th Division is the next character on this list. Well! He did leave the 7th division and become Sugimoto’s comrade. He served as a Private First Class and is also a Matagi (Traditional Winter Hunters) of Tohoku. 

Tanigaki’s life hasn’t been easy. His sister was murdered by an unknown man and the death of his mother made him lose his smile. He has a strong sense of Justice and righteousness. He is the type of person who always returns the favor. If you’ve helped him, he is sure to help you when needed. 

Talking about his abilities, Tanigaki’s shooting skills are pretty insane in my opinion. He’s said to never miss his target. His hand-to-hand combat skills are also pretty decent. Being a Matagi, he knows how to survive in harsh conditions and even benefit from them. He can survive in the woods for months. Many people tend to underestimate him. He’s basically a Jack of all trades but a master of none. (Season 1 Episode 9)

4. Hyakunosuke Ogata

Hyakunosuke Ogata is the next character to feature on this list. Ogata is a sniper and a former member of the 7th Division. He served as a Superior Private. 

Ogata is the type of person you just can’t trust. He had betrayed sooo many parties in this show that I’ve lost count. He even betrayed our MC, Sugimoto. Ogata is physically not that strong as he’s a sniper. However, his sniping skills are INSANE!!! 

In order to fool his opponents, he’d stay in the harsh environment for hours. His sense of hearing is also pretty proficient. He can accurately differentiate between sounds made by animals and humans. (Manga Chapter 162)

He remains cool and calm under tense conditions, making him a formidable foe. Well! To this point, no one knows why he is looking for gold. I guess he just loves TREASURE HUNTING!!

3. Saichi Sugimoto 

Our MC, Saichi Sugimoto, is the next character to feature on this list. Sugimoto is regarded as Sugimoto the Immortal. Why though? Well! Sugimoto had managed to survive every life-threatening condition he encountered, so his peers started calling him Sugimoto the Immortal. (Manga Chapter 1)

Sugimoto is a former war veteran and is currently looking for the lost Ainu gold alongside Asirpa, Yoshitake Siraishi, and others. Being a former soldier, Sugimoto is quite proficient in weapon usage and hand-to-hand combat. He’s a master of Judo and Kendo as well. 

Sugimoto’s way of fighting is a bit reckless and he tends to rush in most of the time. However, this reckless fighting style is because of his “Immortality” or High Pain Threshold. He doesn’t feel that much even when he’s stabbed. (Manga Chapter 16) His body’s healing ability is also insane. Most of his wounds heal completely without leaving any scars. His survival skills, being a former soldier, are also pretty decent. He knows how to survive in a harsh environment.

2. Tatsuuma Ushiyama

Tatsuuma Ushiyama is the next character to feature on this strongest character list. If I had to describe this man in a single word, I’d say he’s a literal MONSTER!!! He is also known as the Ushiyama the Undefeatable. He is regarded as the most strongest and dangerous fighter in all of Hokkaido. He is an important member of Hijikata’s group and one of the Abashiri convicts.

Why did I say he’s a literal monster? Tatssuma Ushiyama is capable of throwing people around like they are rocks. (Golden Kamuy Chapter 53) Coupling his insane strength with Judo, he’s unbeatable. His sweeps are his strongest points. He practices them every day by striking a 60 Kg bag of rice. With his sweep, he can even break your ankle.  (Golden Kamuy Chapter 33)

Besides his insane attacking power, his defense is pretty insane as well. He was able to block an attack from a Kodiak Bear without any difficulty. And he even tossed the bear across the room. (Golden Kamuy Chapter 90)

Hijikata once tried to stab his head with his Katana. However, his skull was sooooo DAMN THICK, that the katana didn’t even scratch him. How do you even beat this guy? I’d suggest you run away as soon as you see him, lol!

1. Tokushiro Tsurumi

Tokushiro Tsurumi is perhaps the strongest and smartest character in the entire series. He is the primary antagonist and serves as the 1st Lieutenant of the 7th Division. Formerly, he was a part of the 2nd division. 

Tsurumi’s venture for gold started wayyyy before Sugimoto and Asirpa. He has been looking for it for quite some time now. Why though? Tsurumi basically wants to create a nation for those soldiers who were betrayed and left to rot by their government. (Manga Chapter 31) However, that’s not it. He has some hidden intentions as well.

Talking about his skills. Tsurumi’s manipulation skills are UNREAL!! He can convince you to do anything and you won’t even realize that he’s tricking you. Being a soldier, his agility and hand-to-hand combat skills are also elite. He is the type of person who analyzes the situation first and then formulates a strategy.
