STRONGEST DEMONS IN KIMETSU NO YAIBA!

31. Slasher

Slasher

About Slasher:

Slasher’s Blood Demon Art is a powerful technique that greatly increases his speed, allowing him to cover large distances quickly. This makes him a formidable opponent who should not be underestimated.

Slasher, driven by arrogance and sadism, challenges Kyojuro Rengoku to a duel. Despite his numerous advantages, Kyojuro Rengoku was able to confront Slasher and put an end to his killings. Nevertheless, he remains a challenging opponent with immense power and speed, rendering him a daunting enemy. (Demon Slayer S2: Episode 1)

30. Tongue Demon

Tongue Demon

About Tongue Demon:

Of all the demons in the anime, this gray demon got very little screen time. Do you know why? That is because his death came very early, was just really swift, and funny too. Hahaha! Of course, he had fun chasing after Zenitsu and the other little kid at first. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 22]

It was even with his death that we got to know just how skilled Zenitsu really is, especially when he’s not in his usual self. Just as Zenitsu’s sword sliced through him, his life flashed right through him and he was like “who is this kid? Is this how I’m going to die? Even the despair on his face was a funny sight!

All he ever did in the little time we saw him was just crawl after Zenitsu, and throw his tongue after the running duo…and that was it! [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 22]

29. Spider Demon (Son)

Spider Demon Son

About Spider Demon:

In the whole of the Spider Demon family, he is the only one that has an actual spider body with a human head. And he’s just as playful as Inosuke also is. But he has an army of spiders that look quite like him, who were once humans, but were transformed into their current state by his poison. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 32]

He even succeeded in poisoning Zenitsu, and at the verge of transforming into a spider with no intelligence, Zenitsu’s senses awoke, and he used his First Form, which is Thunderclap and Flash to behead him. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 33]

I would pretty much guess that his pride comes from the fact that he shares Rui’s blood, and that no one has ever survived his poisoning, since it reacts very fast in the human body. But well, he did deserve all he got in the end, as he is really cruel. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 34]

28. Temple Demon

Temple Demon

About Temple Demon:

This is the first-ever demon that Tanjiro would ever encounter, thus confirming the story he just recently heard about demons devouring people in the dead of the night. And this demon is the same one responsible for the missing person reports around Sagiri Mountain. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 2]

But just like every other demon, this Temple Demon is quite sensitive about his turf, which he calls his hunting grounds. So any human that gets into his turf in the late hours of the night is by right, his prey.

He was Tanjiro’s eye-opener into the abilities of demons, such as the quick regeneration of severed limbs. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 3]

27. Spider Demon (Daughter)

Spider Demon Daughter

About Spider Demon Daughter:

I guess it is very correct to say she is the most cautious member of the Spider Family, as she is the only one that doesn’t join in the battle against the Demon Slayers. She doesn’t even get herself involved in her family’s internal strife. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 41]

She joined the family when she ran to Rui’s house and asked for Rui’s help in warding off the Demon Slayers that were trying to kill her. Take a look at her, do you see how reserved and cool she looks? Well, what if I was to tell you this “little girl” has killed over 80 humans by trapping them in her acidic cocoon? [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 41]

Don’t look so surprised though. She does claim she does all she did just only to please Rui, but Shinobu just doesn’t believe her, and finally ends up killing her with Caprice.

26. Yushiro

Yushiro

About Yushiro:

Now here is one quick-tempered young man that greatly reveres Lady Tamayo, and is always making comments like “Tamayo-chan is really beautiful”. This boy has a certain unfriendly aura around him, and he doesn’t even smile, except for when he’s admiring Lady Tamayo. [Demon Slayer Anime: Episode 10]

And just like most demons, he wasn’t born like that. Tamayo turned him into a demon simply to save him as he was on the verge of dying from an ailment. And as such, he has dedicated the rest of his life to adoring and staying loyal to her. [Demon Slayer Anime: Episode 10]

But when it comes to fighting, he really is skilled, even better than Tanjiro and even after getting his head smashed in by a ball, he still grew it back, much to our surprise!

25. Horned Demon

Horned Demon

About Horned Demon:

While some other demons could even assume the near-human appearance, this guy pretty much looks ugly, and the horn protruding out of his head just doesn’t do justice to it. He has a massive build with prominent veins showing across most of his body. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 23]

And what is he like? Uhm, well… he is way too confident and proud of his powers, for he doesn’t show any constraint when aiming to attack Inosuke. But as the saying goes, “pride goes before a fall”, he was swiftly decapitated by Inosuke when he underestimated the fellow. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 23]

24. Hand Demon

Hand Demon

About Hand Demon:

This guy is as gross as gross can get. With hands wrapped around him, he looks like a bloated version of hulk. At least we sometimes get to see cute demons, this guy is just off in every sense of it. And yet, he is really strong like you wouldn’t expect! [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 6]

He really takes great pride in saying he’s devoured all students of Sakonji Urokodaki, and with his stretchy long hands, he just is one formidable enemy also. I have to say too, he is pretty smart and quickwitted too, but just a tad bit slow for Tanjiro’s Water forms. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 7 and Chapter 8]

23. Swamp Demon

Swamp Demon

About Swamp Demon:

Even the name already speaks of his turf, as he doesn’t just live in swamps, he could even surface anywhere using a swampy interface as an entrance. And he often appears as three demons, all of them with sociopathic attitudes. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 10]

His own turf was a certain town where he abducts 16-year-old girls, drags them underground into his swamp, devours them, and adds one of their belongings to his collection. One thing you have to like about him though is how he acts as a smart and observant leader to his other two impatient bodies. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 12]

But, they all had some things in common. Some of these are their deep fear for Muzan Kibutsuji, their love for fresh young 16-year-old girls, and their excellent teamwork, which of course is the only admirable quality about them.

22. Yahaba

Yahaba

About Yahaba:

You definitely do not ever want to have a face-off against this guy. He’s a demon with really insane abilities. Would you believe he has eyes on his palms! And these eyes do more than just tracking people, as he also uses them to fight, earning him the name Arrow Demon. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 14]

Unlike his playful counterpart, Yahaba is just always ever so focused, matured, and hates getting dirty. And yet every deed of his were attempts at gaining Muzan’s approval. But one cool thing about him, his attack techniques require him to move only his hands. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 15]

One more thing, he never even misses out on telling Susamaru that he doesn’t like her fighting techniques, as it is just childish and not even seemingly relatable to him. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 16]

21. Susamaru

Susamaru

About Susamaru:

This playful demon would most definitely remind you of Prince Goro from Mortal Kombat, except that even though she appears as someone with the normal two arms, she could always grow two other arms! She is fondly known as the Temari Oni (Temari Demon), and she’s always in the company of Yahaba. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 14 and Chapter 15]

She is one of those demons you could definitely term as crazy, as she sees every fight as fun, and is known for always saying “oh, what fun this is”. And unlike her partner, Yahaba, she is just the exact definition of strong and unserious. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 16 and Chapter 17]

20. Tamayo

Tamayo

About Tamayo:

Picture this, will you? A gorgeous lady, with big round eyes, purple pupils, and an entirely beautiful appearance. You would most definitely fall for that, right? Well, what if I was to tell you that she is a demon and that she has been existing for over 200 years, but still looks 26?! Hahaha! [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 15]

She is a skilled doctor that was transformed by Muzan Kibutsuji, and that explains why she hates him so much. And you would never see her alone, for Yushiro, her assistant whom she turned into a demon to save his life, is always by her side. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 15]

But in line with her gentle act, she doesn’t fight, but she has some really strong Blood Demon Art, one of which allows her to interfere with other people’s brains.

19. Spider Demon (Mother)

Spider Demon Mother

About Spider Demon Mother:

She’s one pretty demon who looks really calm as she controls other Demon Slayers with her spider strings. She sends tiny white spiders to attach themselves to unsuspecting humans and control them into killing anyone she wants dead. [Demon Slayer Anime: Episode 16]

As a member of the Pretend Family, she lives her constant fear of not meeting up with Rui’s expectations of her, and also of Father’s torture he often inflicts on her whenever she disappoints Rui. And that was even why she didn’t try to defend herself as Tanjiro jumped in to sever her head, for she found death her only escape. [Demon Slayer Anime: Episode 16]

18. Spider Demon (Father)

Spider Demon Father

About Spider Demon Father:

Inosuke nearly died at his hands and was only saved by Tomioka as this demon was about to crush his head. Even this demon’s appearance is enough to send shivers down your spine, with his big wide mouth, lots of eyes and scary fangs, and also enormous build. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 35]

Father, as he is fondly called by every other member of the Spider Family, is abusive and always tortures the Mother Demon for failing to meet Rui’s expectations for her. But in this family of Spider Demons, he still is the most devoted to his role. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 36]

Father even ran for his life when Inosuke was finally able to sever his arm. Then as Inosuke was chasing after him, climbed onto a tree and cowered in fear. And to my surprise, he just suddenly shed his skin, grew his arm and grew bigger also, jumped down from the tree to resume battle, this time nearly killing Inosuke. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 37]

17. Kyogai

Kyogai

About Kyogai:

Also known as the Tsuzumi Oni, he is a demon that has about four drums attached to his body, all with different uses. Two drums change the orientation of the room right and left respectively, while another sends three invisible blades to slash his opponent. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 20]

Despite being a ferocious demon, Kyogai is timid, cautious, and soft-spoken. Rather than yell or roar, Kyogai simply whispers his irritation. He thinks it’s impolite for someone to rush into his house and will demolish them. Angry enough, Kyogai will scream at the bother and trash his opponents. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 21 and Chapter 24]

16. Kamanue

Kamanue

About Kanamue:

As a young man of small build, Kamanue had a pale complexion and broadness of dark green across his nose and eyes that rose vertically into a second, thinner band across his forehead. And he is the lowest of the LowRank Kizuki, holding the position of Kagen no Roku. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 51]

Kamanue had a nervous disposition and wore a terrified face all the time, which was probably due to his perception of himself as the weakest of the Lower Ranks. His behavior while in the Infinity Castle suggested a jittery nature, as he looked to be always on the defensive. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 52]

15. Rui

Rui

About Rui:

When they say “do not judge a book by its cover”, I think you definitely should apply the same saying to this “kid”. Every member of the Demon SpiderPretend Family” was actually his subordinates, as he is one of the Twelve Kizuki. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 19]

And would you believe Rui is actually even a Lower Rank 5 of the Twelve Kizuki? Like, a demon that is strong and formidable! He claims that everyone else in his family is his siblings, but all he does is torture them and rule them with force. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 21]

But well, he did meet his end, and just after he was about to die, he did show that he was scared about going to hell alone, but he did deserve that, right? Of course, he has lived a bad guy’s life, killed and devoured humans by the numbers, and even demons too. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 42]

14. Mukago

Mukago

About Mukago:

She is the Kagen no Shi (Lower Rank Four) of Muzan Kibutsuji’s Junikizuki, and she has the looks of a kid and that of a horned cat with two red rectangle marks on either side of her face.

Mukago had the most cowardice among the Lower Ranks. It was revealed by Muzan Kibutsuji, who read Mukago’s thoughts, that fighting the Hashira of the Demon Slayer Corps was the last thing she ever wanted to do. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 51]

When he stated this, she attempted to pacify him and plead for forgiveness, but that made her lose her head. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 52]

13. Wakuraba

Wakuraba

About Wakuraba:

Wakuraba is the Kagen no San (Lower Rank Three) of the Twelve Kizuki, and he was also the third demon to be killed by Muzan while the latter was executing all members of the Kizuki’s Lower Rank. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 51]

In a bid not to get killed like his colleagues, Wakuraba made a dash for it at very high speed, thinking he would be safe from Muzan Kibutsuji as soon as he got away from the confines of Infinite Castle. Well, he spent his last moments wondering how his head was severed, as his head hung down from Muzan’s grip. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 52]

12. Rokuro

Rokuro

About Rokuro:

This old man with the vein-ish cracked face is the Kagen no Ni of the Twelve Kizuki. But he’s not actually an old man, he just looks like one. Hahaha! [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 51]

In the Rehabilitation Training Arc, while Muzan was killing the other Lower Rank Twelve Kizuki Demons, Rokuro is the only one that pleaded to be given more of Muzan’s blood, to be able to prove his worth and capabilities to his Lord. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 52]

11. Enmu

Enmu

About Enmu:

Some pictures might make you take this demon for a lady, but is Enmu actually female? Give me a minute to think…. Nah, Enmu is actually a guy, and he is the Kagen no Ichi (Lower Rank One) of the Twelve Kizuki. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 51]

Now here is a demon you never want to ever dream about, or even meet. Do you know why? One, he enjoys seeing humans suffer and in extreme pain. Two, he likes giving people sweet dreams, and then turn that around into a nightmare, before killing them. Little wonder as to why he’s known as the brutal Demon. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 52]

10. Nezuko Kamado

Nezuko Kamado

About Nezuko:

This cute little sister of Tanjiro got turned into a demon after the rest of her family got devoured by a demon in Tanjiro’s absence. That event turned Nezuko into a free girl to one confined to living inside a box on her brother’s back, as he journeys around on his demonslaying missions. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 1]

But how can a demon always be with a Demon Slayer? Just how is it possible? Well, Nezuko is the only demon shown to have human sympathy, and even protect humans from other demons. She also can change her size at will whenever she likes. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 3]

Nezuko is rarely even seen throughout the series, except whenever her brother is in extreme danger when she often suddenly comes to put her life on the line, just to save him. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 15] Nezuko really is a lovable character, you may also check her quotes that will make you emotional!

9. Daki

Daki

About Daki:

Daki, whose name means “fallen princess” in kanji, was a member of the Twelve Demon Moons and held the rank of Upper Moon Six along with his brother, Gyutaro. The kanji for “Upper Rank” was inscribed in Daki’s left eye, while the kanji for “Six” was inscribed in her other eye

Daki and Gyutaro shared a single body. Daki disguised herself as an oiran (a courtesan) under the stage name “Warabihime,” and her human name was Ume. She had black hair styled in an elaborate updo and wore a decorative kimono with a long, floral-patterned obi. To know more about her, check out our Demon Slayer article about Daki.

When she transformed into her Demon form, her hair turned silver with lime green highlights and her eyes became lime green as well. She gained pink and purple flower-shaped marks on her cheeks and forehead. During battles, she wore minimal clothing, usually just her undergarments and obi tied around her waist. As an oiran, Daki is truly beautiful. But hiding in that beauty she was a highly arrogant, disdainful, and sadistic individual who found pleasure in tormenting her victims before taking their lives. She lacked any sense of guilt or remorse for her callous acts of killing people. Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 75

8. Gyutaro

Gyutaro

About Gyutaro:

Gyutaro, who was part of the Twelve Demon Moons, held the title of Upper Moon Six along with Daki in the “Demon Slayer” series. He was the stronger of the two siblings and shared the same body with Daki.

Gyutaro had a large, muscular build with pale gray skin and black dots and mist-shaped marks. His short, wavy hair started black and faded to lime green. He had yellow sclera and dark green irises with the kanji for Upper Moon Six written on them. He was skinny at his waist with a noticeable protrusion of his pelvis. He wore only baggy blue pants and a red cloth wrapped around his arms and neck.
As a human, Gyutaro was known to be dirty and smelly, with fleas infesting him due to a lack of hygiene. He was also said to have been very ugly, leading to bullying from others. Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 85

7. Gyokko

Gyokko

About Gyokko:

Gyokko is part of the Twelve Demon Moons squad and has the title of Upper Moon Five. Despite his strange looks, he’s a powerhouse demon!

His appearance is unique among the Upper Moons. He reminds me of King Eurysthenes from Greek mythology who used to hide in a jar and also Hidetaka Miyazaki’s character designs in the Dark Souls series.

His Blood Demon Art lets him summon sea creatures from his pot, like the poison needle-shooting monster, goldfish monsters, and giant takoyaki tentacles that’ll choke the life out of you. He can also create water from his vases, trapping and suffocating his victims.
Gyokko is a top-notch demon in the series, known for his ruthless and cunning tactics. He’s a force to be reckoned with and a formidable opponent.

6. Hantengu

Hantengu

About Hantengu:

One of the most recognizable figures among the Twelve Demon Moons is Hantengu, who is known for his appearance as an elderly man with two horns and wears a kimono with an intricate floral design. (Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 98)

Before Nakime replaced him, Hantengu held the title of Upper Moon Four. His Blood Demon Art allows him to duplicate himself, similar to the kage bunshin technique, but with one key difference – his clones have different appearances, personalities, and emotions. Hantengu has some level of control over each of them. Each clone is identified by a kanji tattoo on its tongue that represents its dominant emotion. His Blood Demon Art is a critical aspect of his powers and highlights the dual nature of his character – both timid and terrifying.

5. Nakime Otokawa

Nakime Otokawa

About Nakime:

She is the Biwa Oni that first served as an Infinity Castle summoner who summoned Demons on Kibutsuji’s orders. But after the death of Hantengu, she was promoted to become the new Jogen no Shi (UpperRank Four) of the twelve Kizuki. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 51]

She rarely ever talks except when necessary, and dig this, she looks like a roadside beggar that plays Biwa, all for a few pennies Hahaha! But just how exactly did this regular, human Biwa player turn into a demon? [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 98]

Simple summary, she found out that killing someone before going for performance often helps her get standing ovation, and one day while looking for someone to murder before going to perform, she met our Dark Lord, Muzan Kibutsuji himself, and well, the rest is history. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 183]

4. Akaza

Akaza

About Akaza:

Akaza is the Jogen no San (Upper Rank Three) of the Twelve Kizuki. And just like the rest of the twelve Kizuki, he has the Kanji for his position etched in his right eye. As stubborn as Akaza is, he even extends it to demons of ranks higher than his. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 63 and Chapter 98]

Normally, demons are expected to lose all memories of their life as humans by the time they get turned, but who would’ve expected that his memories as a human often influence his decisions, even in his new life as a demon? You clearly didn’t expect that, did you?

One more thing, Akaza often reminds me of Todo Aoi from Jujutsu Kaisen, but the only difference in them is that Akaza only reveres everyone, regardless of their race, based on their strength.

3. Doma

Doma

About Doma:

Doma is the Jogen no Ni (Upper Rank Two) of the Twelve Kizuki and operates at the Paradise Faith Cult. Despite his warm and charming demeanor, Doma is a cunning and a lethal assassin. It’s because his prey or victims tend to believe he’s going to save them from their own misery.

Doma is a pessimist who has never experienced human emotion. He admits that even when he was a human, the notion of emotion was alien to him. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 98 and Chapter 96]

2. Kokushibo

Kokushibo

About Kokushibe:

This sixeyed demon is the Numero Uno of Muzan Kibutsuji’s Twelve Kizuki. But his official ranking is Jogen no Ichi, which literally means Upper Rank One. As a human, he originally lived as Michikatsu Tsugikuni during the Sengoku Era. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 165]

As a demon, Kokushibo was renowned for his quiet demeanor and little was known about him at the time due to the lack of information on the Demon Lords. As shown during the Upper Rank meeting, he was a rule-abiding, punctual individual who respected the Twelve Kizuki’s hierarchy. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 98]

1. Tanjiro’s Demon Form

Tanjiros Demon Form

About Tanjiro’s Demon Form:

Greatest spoiler ahead! The transformation of Tanjiro into a Demon is a poignant and heart-wrenching moment in the world of “Demon Slayer”. The once gentle and compassionate young man now possesses unparalleled strength, even surpassing the infamous Muzan Kibutsuji. The tragedy of it all is not lost on fans, as they see the innocent Tanjiro consumed by darkness.

Despite his newfound power, Tanjiro’s humanity shines through as he is swiftly turned back into a human thanks to Tamayo’s humanizing drug (thank goodness). But the memory of his brief time as a Demon remains, what could have been if he had fully given into the darkness?

Honorable Mention: Muzan Kibutsuji

Muzan

About Muzan:

A name to fear! A name no demon can’t ever call without dying!! A name that instills fear into even Hashira Demon Slayers!!! Muzan is the first human to become a demon, and also the only one with the ability to create demons. [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 51]

Unlike all other demons, Muzan is the only one that can blend perfectly in the human world, as he looks like a perfectly normal human being, living a normal life with his wife and daughter, and has no shady business, not knowing he’s the Lord of the Underworld (or in this case, the Demon world). [Demon Slayer Manga: Chapter 201]

Not even a single Hashira or any other Demon Slayer knows what he looks like, except Tanjiro, who only found him based on his strong sense of smell. And mind you, he can aslo change his form, as he could go to different places, using different disguises.
