L'Arc Berg Sickle | The Rising of the Shield Hero (WIKI)
Introduction
L’Arc Berg Sickle is the current Scythe Hero and the possessor of the Vassal Scythe. He is a Hero that came from another world, a world past the Wave. Not just a Hero, L’Arc is also the King of an unknown country. It was his dominion that summoned the Hunting Hero, Kizuna Kazayama (The Rising of the Shield Hero Light Novel: Volume 7).
L’Arc made a really flashy entrance in the Manga as well as the anime. He was introduced as a simple adventurer, a super strong and cool guy that managed to get close to Naofumi and win his trust without even trying.

Appearance

L’Arc is a very handsome character. He looks like a Kakkoii bad boy with muscles and tattoos. His hair is spiky and red just like his eyes. He always carries around his imposing Scythe just like a Reaper.
Personality

He is a happy-go-lucky guy, always relaxed and cheerful. He gives off the vibes of a reliable big brother that will always be there to protect you.
Now that he has become a King, L’ Arc is bound by duty, however, he cherishes his freedom and isn’t ready to let go of it just yet.
He is a very good judge of character. When L’Arc first met our protagonist, and Naofumi introduced himself as the Shield Hero, L’ Arc didn’t believe his word—saying that the Shield is known to be cold and cruel and that it was obvious that Naofumi was nothing like him (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 22).

He is a bit childish and has the bad habit of calling those younger than himself “Kiddo“. He is a chivalric individual who will only hurt those he considers his enemies and will go out of his way to protect the innocent.
He is charismatic and a respectful leader. He is also very strong. Like the Fan Hero, Glass, he also possesses a warrior spirit. Although he is only a Vassal Hero, he easily defeated the Spear, Sword, and Bow Hero all on his own (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 24).

Relationships

Naofumi Iwatani
(Shield Hero)
L’ Arc got to know about Naofumi through rumors and as you guessed, none of them were good. He was described as an evil being with not an ounce of kindness in his heart.
When L’ Arc met him and he revealed his identity, he thought that he was pretending to be the Shield as Naofumi doesn’t match the description at all (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 22).
When he saw him in action, he realized that he was telling the truth and they became enemies. He enjoyed his fight with Naofumi and labeled him as a worthy opponent (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 24).
When Naofumi travels to L’ Arc’s world, both Heroes had the same purpose and the friendship that was lost was regained just like that (The Rising of the Shield Hero Light Novel: Volume 8)

Motoyasu Kitamura, Ren Amaki, and Itsuki Kawasumi (Spear, Sword, Bow Hero)
Although they are the Legendary Heroes, L’ Arc only saw them as small fries and didn’t believe they were who they said they were.
He sends them flying in one blow and is afraid to use too much strength against them because he might kill them by accident (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 24).

Kizuna Kazayama
(Hunting Hero)
She’s the Hero that was summoned by L’ Arc’s country. The two characters don’t have much of a relationship, it’s just that they are fighting together towards the same goal.

Glass (Fan Hero)
The two Heroes became friends thanks to Kizuna. Because of their opposite personalities, they often end up arguing. But no matter their differences, they trust each other in battle.

Raphtalia
(Katana Hero)
Although they started off as enemies, they soon became friends. L’ Arc acts like a big bro to Raphtalia and sometimes trains her while he is encouraging her to act on her feelings towards Naofumi.

Therese Alexanderite
They look like they are always arguing but they really like each other. L’ Arc is often jealous of the attention she gives to Naofumi and tries to impress her all the time. It’s obvious that he is in love with her and even tries to learn accessory-crafting for her.
Plot

Naofumi Iwatani was living a very boring life as a reclusive geek. His life took a 180-degree turn when he was summoned to another world.
He was sucked into a bright light and when he opened his eyes, he and three other teenagers found themselves in the country called Melromarc.
Each of them was bestowed a weapon. One became the Spear Hero, the other the Sword Hero, the third is now the Bow Hero and Naofumi was going to be called from now on the Shield Hero.
The King of Melromarc told them their story. Waves of Catastrophe were devastating their world and unleashing armies of monsters upon their people. The Legend said that only the Four Cardinal Heroes had the power to stop them.

The four Heroes accepted the King’s request. Well, they didn’t have much of a choice if they wanted to go back home someday.
Of the four, Naofumi was the only one who really desired to save this new world and its people. Little did he know that those people really didn’t want his help since they view the Shield Hero as a burden.
No one wanted to party with him except Malty S. Melromarc or Myne, the first Princess. Naofumi was just happy to have a companion and accepted her with open arms, however, his naiveté was going to bite him back real quick.
The Princess turned out to be the vilest individual you can imagine. Naofumi was nothing but good to her and yet she stole everything he had, although she’s rich, and declared before the entire royal court that he took advantage of her.

Now despised by the entire country, even his so-called comrade turned their backs on him. At that moment the Shield Hero changed. His smile disappeared and only coldness was left in his heart.
He purchased a slave, Raphatalia, the one that will become his Sword, and set out with her to fight the Waves so he can go back to Japan (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 1).
On his journey, Naofumi met a lot of different people and always had a hard time accepting them. Weirdly there was one guy he got attached to super easily and that guy was L’Arc, even though he believed he was hard to deal with (The Rising of the Shield Hero Anime: Season 1 Episode 22).
In the end, it was revealed that L’arc was actually an enemy that came from Glass’s world here to kill the four Cardinal Heroes, including Naofumi, to save his home. And yet, Naofumi held no grudge against the man he believed him to be honorable and just.
