School’s been out for a while and we’re hoping that you guys enjoyed your break because class will be in session! That’s right, the return of “The Misfit of Demon King Academy” will be making a grand entrance with its Season 2! And we’re here to dish out as many of the important details we could find to help you prepare before this new class session starts!
If you’ve been following the anime, then you may know that this Demon Lord had to climb his way from his light novel days before getting a manga adaptation. After that, Shu’s work finally landed with Silver Link in 2020 where it made its debut as an anime. And since their announcement in March, we’ve finally got wind of an expected release date for the second season but catching wind of the announcement is one thing. The production company has been stingy in the release of new information about what this new season will bring for fans.
Table of Contents
That isn’t to say we haven’t been keeping an eye out for new dets, tweets, and all the sources in between. Turns out there’s been a slight shift in casting and the source material being presented proves to provide a small sense of direction for the plot. But that’s enough of the overview of what this school year will bring with our Demon Lord, let’s get to it shall we?

Season 2 of The Misfit of Demon King Academy 2022 Release Date
RELEASE DATE

By far this is the most important detail! Afterall, you’ve got to know what day class starts so you’ll know when to be there, right? If you haven’t guessed, we’re about to share with you the details on Season 2’s release date!
Now, we know that there are always the naysayers and good ole critics who like to project their objections and stigmas, but despite what they had to say it prevailed. We got a tease Japanese trailer from the anime’s licensor, Aniplex USA. And on March 6, 2021 the original announcement was made on the anime’s official website, stating that the show would in fact return for a second season.
After a dry and long summer break you’re scheduled to prep your books and pencils, and you might want to find a seat at a desk too, because the exact date of its release has yet to be foretold. It’s safe to predict that the Demon Lord will make its next airtime in April 2022. Just like it’s humble beginnings we can expect to see Season 2 aired on Crunchyroll. Fans may be familiar with Crunchyroll, but keep in mind you can always keep up with updates for the show on Aniplex too!
PREDICTED CAST

Okay students, now for the fun part where you get to meet your instructors who’ll be up front and center displaying the show for you, well more like acting it out, literally! The cast for “The Misfit of the Demon King Academy” has had a major change!
Our main man Anos Voldigoad will be voiced by Yuichiro Umehara, while the older sister Sasha Necron, will be voiced by Yuuko Natsuyoshi, and the younger sister, Misha Necron, will be voiced by Tomori Kusunoki.
You may have already noticed, Anos’ original Japanese voice actor, Tatsuhisa Suzuki is no longer the one behind the Anos vocals. We know, we know, you’re all turning heads, wondering what happened. And we’re pretty sure the Draken fans are ready to start a war over the loss of their beloved voice actor in another good anime series.
Well, the great Tatsushisa took a break from the entertainment world after his extramarital relationship with a coworker was brought to light. Thus, in the revelation of our beloved voice actor a new man has come to take his throne. Thankfully, this appears to be the only role change in the show’s casting so far. Let us presume with the faculty roll, shall we?
Yuichiro Umehara

Fans of the anime universe will recognize him from the voice acting industry for his roles in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean as Weather Report, Black Clover as Mars, and in Goblin Slayer as the Goblin Slayer, and that’s just a few of his works.
Yuichiro has also appeared in several other minor roles as Courier from Akudama Drive, Tojo from Fire Force, Jugram Haschwalt from Bleach, and Toughboy from the Netflix anime movie Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop.
It’s easy to say that as the director, Shin Oonuma, knew what he was doing in taking the leap of recasting the lead role during its creation of Season 2. Replacing the former Demon Lord’s voice actor with Yuichiro was both a wise and safe decision. Fans of the show can expect smooth lines from the new voice actor making Anos anything but a generic MC.
Tomori Kusunoki

We’re all familiarizing this young woman’s voice since she’s made her smashing hit and is here to stay! Tomori will continue to voice Misha Necron, the younger twin of the Seven Elder Demon Emperors. If you’ve been around long enough then you know she’s not a stranger when it comes to the voice acting.
She’s more than the soft-spoken middle school girl in her debut role in Eromanga Sensei. Tomori’s vocals may be familiar to many anime fans as Llenn from Sword Art Online: Alternative Gun Gale Online, Sestsuna Yuki in Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club, Romin Kirishima from Yu-Gi-Oh! Sevens, and Futaba Igarashi in My Senpai is Annoying. And that’s just a few of her roles!
She knows her away around voicing a character or two so there is no concern with keeping her as the sweet, quiet Misha. Having a well-suited actress like Tomori suits the casting and keeps fans happy to know that despite having lost a familiarity there’s still more to count on.
Yuuko Natsuyoshi

This gentle spirited lady may be relatively new to the voicing industry but don’t let her budding blossoms fool you as she’s racked up quite a few roles in her short time being on the scene! She’s appeared in not just in anime but video games too!
Yuuko initially debuted in Grand Blue Episode 7 as a member of the Tinkerbell team and has had several minor roles since then. The young actress is predominantly known for her role as Yuyu Shirai in Assault Lily Fruits, Himeko Mashima in Show by Rock!! Starts!!, Erma in She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man. She was also Whitney in Pokémon Masters and Furau in Last Period!
We’ll continue to see her make her appearance in “The Misfit of the Demon King Academy” as the elder hot-headed twin of the Necron family’s sixteenth generation heir!
English Voice Actors
With English being the predominant language in the world it’s only fair that we list off the English voice actors and actresses and share a little knowledge on them too!
There have been no changes made to the dubbed casting meaning that Aleks Le will continue to voice Anos, Brianna Knickerbocker will proudly speak for Misha, and Kayli will be as witty as ever in her role as Sasha.
Aleks Le

industry as he’s known for some major roles in his profession! If you don’t know him from this show, you’re bound to be able to pinpoint him from the hottest anime on the scene right now…or you might now, he’s that good!
Alek voices Zenitsu Agatsuma from Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Manjiro “Mikey” Sano from Tokyo Revengers, Kazuya Kinoshita from Rent a Girlfriend, Seijūrō Akashi in Kuroko’s Basketball, and Caiman in Dorohedoro! Alek knows his way around a booth showcasing various sides of himself as he voices a variety of characters.
To name a few additions Alek has also voiced Thorfinn Thordarson in Vinland Saga, Hisui in Yashahime: Princess of Half Demon, Lilpilin in Sword Art Online: Alicization-War of Underworld, and Mario Zucchero from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind.
All as an American voice actor he’s worked along with companies like: Bang Zoom! Entertainment, FUNimation Entertainment, Studiopolis, SDI Media, and VSI Los Angeles. Talk about experience and being well known, Alek’s reputation alone bags him for the role as the Demon King of this show!
Brianna Knickerbocker

This red headed damsel has been around the block a time or two as well! With a voice that matches her petite character and whimsical nature she’s the perfect fit for shy, timid Misha-chan. Brianna made her first appearance in Season 1 and has no intentions on going anywhere.
She’s been notarized for her roles as Rem in Re:ZERO, Wiz in KonoSuba: God’s Blessing on this Wonderful World!, the sweet Tuesday Simmons in Carole & Tuesday, Chisaki Hiradaira in A Lull in the Sea, and the one and only Kanao Tsuyuri in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. And that’s just to name a few of her heavy hitters,
She’s also made an appearance in Kakegurui as Rumia Uru, Durarara!! As Akane Awakusu, she’s made several appearances in Hunter x Hunter for various characters like Eeta and Elana, as well as Enko Onikuma in the hit Viz Media production Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, and young Erica in Berserk.
We guess to say that Brianna has been around the block or two is an understatement! If anything, Alec would be head of faculty and Brianna would definitely be his right hand woman.
Kayli Mills

If it’s one thing for sure we know that Kayli mills a bubbly spit fire whose hair is as colorful as her personality! She sure knows how to let those spirits shine through in her voice acting!
Thankfully, we can bravely say that she’s here to stay in delivering to us the English-speaking role of the elder twin Sasha Necron! Kayli’s voice is well trained up she’s made several appearances in various anime like her co-voice actor Brianna she’s also appeared in Re: Zero-Starting Life as Emilia, in Hunter x Hunter as Pyon, and Kakegurui as Runa Yomozuki!
She’s also made her voice know in Sword Art Online: Alicization as Alice Zuberg, in Sword Gai as Sayaka, in The Seven Deadly Sins as Deldry and Dolores, in Mob Psycho 100 as Minor Asagiri, and the Netflix original anime Hero Mask as Tina Hearst!
From the looks of the voice acting industry is a small world in the anime community! It’s a pleasure to say that Kayli Mills will be making another appearance for the show’s second season and will warm our hearts with her feisty role as Sasha Necron.
PRODUCTION AND STAFF

Now guys, what’s a casting without its creators? We think it’s time you got to know the masterminds behind the vision and the phenomenal people who’ve helped bring vital pieces of the anime together.
Afterall, after blessing us with a chance to see this series continue in motion it’s only respectful that we give proper credit where it’s due. Time to introduce you guys to the main people who bring “The Misfit of the Demon King Academy” to life.
Author of Original Story - Shu

There isn’t much to reveal about the show’s initial creator from its first form as a light novel. Shu is the initial writer and prefers his privacy. It hasn’t been confirmed nor denied whether Shu is his actual name or his pen name.
We have uncovered a couple of other works he’s written: the fantasy adventure novel Who Said I Was Not Fit to Be a Demon Lord and the Japanese webtoon romance drama Father Complex. Before landing his big break with publisher Shosetsuka ni Naro who’s released works like: Re:Zero—Starting Life in Another World, The Time I Got Reincarnated as Slime, and The Rising of the Shield Hero, all of which were obtained by various mangaka or anime producers and received adaptations into manga before becoming an anime.
Even though Shu’s a man who’s all about protecting his peace by maintaining his privacy. We’re sure he’s happy to know his novel has built quite the fanbase after having started out from such humble beginnings like so many other anime.
Chief Director - Shin Onuma

Don’t let his title fool you! This seasoned anime director is also an animator and a storyboard artist! So, if Shu is the founder of Demon Lord’s anime then Shin is for sure the principal calling the shots.
Shin is also known for directing the movies Fate/Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya: Prisma Phantasm and Vow in the Snow. As well as shows like Ef: A Tale of Melodies, Nourin, and A Sister’s All You Need, Deep Insanity: The Lost Child, and Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody.
This director’s got some range when it comes down to managing various projects and living up to his skill set as one of the seasoned vets in the film world of Japanese anime culture. Shin will continue to be on board as the Chief Director of this upcoming season!
Music - Keiji Inai

We all know that it’s easy to fall in love with anime intros and outros and we’re sure you’ve found something to like about the Demon’s Lord music before the show starts, when it ends or somewhere doing an intense scene. Regardless, we’ll be discussing Keiji’s work and what to expect from him!
Believe it or not! But Keiji played a music note or was given a hand or two in the production of several Star Wars pieces in the latest Disney anime adaption Star Wars: Visions! Teaming up with a franchise as huge as Disney is something but working with Disney to help produce several songs for Disney’s first anime on a series as huge and long running as Star Wars is something to marvel about!
Keiji’s a well-versed composer, arranger, and orchestrator. He’s also produced works on both games Gravity Rush and Gravity Rush 2, and composed works for the movie Burn the Witch that takes place in the soon returning Bleach world.
This seasoned musician isn’t far off from his forte when it comes to composing music for our beloved anime around the Misfit Demon Lord. If we didn’t know any better this cultured musician could be considered the school’s head maestro! Thankfully they’ll be keeping him around to continue creating ear warming music that works for Season 2 making it more cinematic!
Original Character Design - Yoshinori Shizuma

We’re all grateful for this man here! If Shu is the founder of “The Misfit of the Demon Academy”, Shin is the principal, then Yoshinori is the vice principal for his work in advancing what was once a light novel into a whole manga. He’s the reason we have the characters we saw in the previous showing and will see in all too near Season 2 of tomorrow!
Yoshinori has brought other works to life too before having worked on the Demon Lord’s appearance. He’s known for illustrating School Escape Velocity, Grimoire of Zero, and Toji no Miko: Ryuukyuu Ken Fuuroku! This artist has even released a self-titled art book titled Yoshinori Shizuma Illustration Works of Marginal Operation Art 01 leaving us to believe this is only one of the many to come from the talented artist. In the meantime, while you wait to see his continued character designs in the next season you can always view his work that’s being shared on Pinterest!
Animation Production - Silver Link

Ahhh and what would a school be without the building itself?! Silver Link continues to proudly house the production of the new season of the Demon’s Lord show! We may not have noted this before Shin is very familiar with the studio as he’s worked underneath them in productions like Chivalry of a Failed Knight, Invaders of the Rokujyoma!?, and Kokoro Connect.
That’s just a couple of the works Silver Link has produced, it’s also brought to life Brave Witches, Death March to the Parallel World Rhapsody, the RPG Circlet Princess, Bofuri, and The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated as an Aristocrat.
It can be easily said that Silver Link has a love for turning games and light novels into something to behold with it’s nice art style and smooth animation. And it will continue to bring this to the forefront of the next season of The Misfit of the Demon Academy’s Season 2.
PREDICTED PLOT

With our main cast or shall we say instructors in play we can move on to the objective or dare say the plot, but first a recap because we know it’s been a minute.
If you remember, during the previous season, Anos is so powerful that not even the gods could put a stop to him. After a millennia of war Demon Lord Anos gets bored and decides he wants peace.
As a result, he strikes a deal with Kanon, humanity’s hero. He does this in the hopes of obtaining peace and Anos winds up sacrificing himself and gets reincarnated 2,000 years into the future.
When the renounced Demon Lord awakens on the scene, he discovers that magic has nearly deteriorated and no one remembers him as the Demon King! It’s no wonder that when he enrolled no one recognized his power and he’s labelled a misfit. Anos’ journey in the modern world helps him learn a lot! Like how human conspirators led by Jerga betrayed Kanon after Anos’ death 2,000 years ago.

Surprisingly, the human hero reincarnates so that he and Anos can link up and defeat Jerga, the two of them successfully obtain the dub. As a result, the hero’s long-ago goal of peace between all races has been achieved.
For the long-haul fans, you know that the previous anime covered volumes 1 to 3 and stops just where volume 4 picks up. This season is said to have a split in its production due to Japanese production, making it likely that this season will carry on to volume 9 just short of the 10 volumes that are currently on bookshelves!
SUMMARY OF VOLUMES 4-9

Having said that, our dear pupils, just to give you a rundown of what the light novels consist of in volumes 4 to 9 Anos and Kanon just to come face to face with another adversary in the light of Dilhade being in turmoil at the loss of their fake Demon King! With this new adversary on the rise a spiritual war far is starting to brew again.
The Fake Demon King’s identity is revealed and Anos realizes that he knows this Fake Demon King as Avos Deheliva, whose spirit is born from tradition and another aspect of Misa. There’s a lot of time traveling ahead for Anos and his newfound companion along with his typical team.
Anos first seeks to reclaim his memories after being told by a certain messenger that the eight gods have chosen eight competitors who they’re looking to make a god’s substitute and Anos is one of the selected competitors!

After witnessing his own memories, the Demon Lord seeks to refresh the memories and spread enlightenment upon the students at the Demon Academy, but that isn’t the only thing that happens! While they’re gathered in the underground city the once immortal barrier that sheltered the underworld and was meant to protect and fester the memories of its citizens begins to fall Anos and his friends must find out how to stop it from happening.
The Demon Lord and his companions wind up travelling to another underground city known as Agaha where they meet an unlikely ally that is the key to saving the underworld!
The last few books end with the underground being saved thanks to the unlikely ally, but Anos has many questions stirring in his heart. So of course, this young misfit of a demon wants to act as kingly as one possibly could in his shoes and goes to find the answers alongside his beloved ride or die group. If this hasn’t taught us anything, it’s that it’s important to make good friends in school.
LOSS OF MANGA ARTIST

Before we’d like to continue with the last segment, we’d like to acknowledge Kakyaharuka Sensei! A final farewell to the mangaka who brought the light novel into a manga adaptation. Had he not done this, the story wouldn’t be an anime, as you should know it’s easier to catch wind of a manga and turn it into an anime than a light novel.
The late Kakyaharuka battled an ongoing case of pancreatic cancer since 2019 and had canceled the manga’s continuation due to the illustrator’s needed treatment at the time. At the time, it was said that the announcement occurred the day after Kakyaharuka’s passing on July 6th, 2021.
Despite the loss of such greatness, the team swears to continue his work with his pen. That they will continue with the creation of the manga we know and love as it continues to adapt into its anime form.
