Haruba Negi wrote the Japanese romance manga, Quintessential Quintuplets in 2017. However, it was released officially as an anime in 2019. In 2021, this anime received a second season with 12 episodes with the same plot of one broke guy teaching five sisters. Hmm, sounds interesting, eh? The sisters are Miku Nakano, Yotsuba Nakano, Nino Nakano, Itsuki Nakano, and Ichika Nakano. All of these sisters have different personalities and problems that literally drive our MC, Fuutarou Uesugi, mad.

The movie is going to be released on May 20, 2022 in spring. It’s going to be really nice and will literally make your day. So, sit tight and wait patiently for this movie. Only a few months are left! Fans have known about this news since April 2021, and they surely made their fans wait a long time for this movie. However, look at where we are now! It’s unbelieveable how time passed! Now, it’s time to talk about the plot of the movie! Let’s find out what’s gonna happen in the movie.
Predicted Plot
According to the trailer of the movie, the five sisters are wearing a wedding dress. It’s all up to Futaro to pick one of them as his bride. Yes, you heard that right, he’s going to marry one of the Nakano sisters. Aren’t you curious which sister will he pick? And if you didn’t know, all of the five sisters fell for him when they started getting involved with him. So, the movie sounds quite interesting, right? We’re literally all dying to see Futaro’s pick. If we look back, do we remember with whom Futaro’s behaviour was a bit different? Do let me know in the comments below, alright?
If you are not getting the plot, I’ll revise the previous story for you. The story of Quintessential Quintuplets revolves around a poor yet smart guy named Futaro Uesugi who’s the breadwinner of the family. He’s got a little sister and a father. Futaro grew up without his mom and he had to provide for his family in his youth. Despite going through a lot, he tends to be good at everything. He joins this school on scholarship and it turns out he’s smarter than many other students.
In that school, he meets these sisters one by one. His interaction with the sisters wasn’t that good. Then, he applied for tutoring. It turns out, he had to tutor these troublesome sisters. They all were literally big troublemakers and one couldn’t really make them sit on the study table and make them study. I don’t know what Futaro did to deserve this.
Anyways, as the story proceeds, he got to know about the sisters. It wasn’t easy to make them study by sitting together. Some simply didn’t want to study while others had plans of partying and stuff.
You know how spoiled brats are, right? Futaro even considered giving up, but you know he needed money, so he simply just couldn’t. These girls took a long time to accept Futaro as their tutor. At first, they didn’t consider it appropriate for a stranger to enter their apartment. However, after hearing Futaro’s situation they start to cooperate too. And just like that, Futaro makes them study and tries to improve their grades. He simply got lucky since this rich family transferred to his school.
Story & Haruba’s POV
It was decided that Futaro is going to marry one of the Nakano sisters. It’s all up to him to select his bride from five gorgeous sisters. This concept was added to get rid of the concept that Futaro might end up marrying all five of the sisters.
Haruba also made the sisters have a negative point of view about Futaro at the start because he wanted to write about how their relationship improves and moves to love. It’s a smooth transition and I really think you all need to watch it!
Although there might have been sensual scenes in the anime and manga but they were stopped since Haruba thinks that it makes the characters less interesting to the readers. However, Haruba did make a swimsuit episode before finishing the whole story so that the story is balanced. That’s it for Haruba’s point of view. I hope you guys found this interesting. Characters
There’s a diversity of characters including the five sisters of course. Although the story mainly focuses on these sisters and the tutor, Futaro, yet we get to see newer characters being introduced in the anime too. So, let’s get started!
Futaro Uesugi
Futaro Uesugi is the main protagonist of the anime, “The Quintessential Quintuplets”. He’s a smart guy who believes that love is the stupidest thing which might affect the academics of a person when they’re just a student. I don’t see how he’s wrong, lol.
Anyways, he’s a student at Asahiyama School. He lives with his father and younger sister who is really cute. They all live together in a small apartment. In such a small apartment, Futaro dreams big and wishes to move forward in life. He’s such an ambitious guy. He tops his class and is very hardworking too. At some point, he marries one of the sisters he teaches but she remains a mystery since all of them look alike a bit too much!
Futaro is a good-looking guy and has blue-black hair, he has a bowl cut hairstyle and he considers his hairstyle very weird since it was cut by Raiha Uesugi. She’s the younger sister of Futaro who cooks at home and is very energetic. We all have younger energetic sisters, don’t we? HAHA, not all of us. Anyways, Futaro looks composed most of the time, he tends to look scary too. One of the sisters describes his appearance as that of a bad guy. I admit though, he looks like a delinquent because of his stern face. So, the conclusion is that girls like bad boys?
He’s mostly seen to be wearing Asahiyama’s school uniform, but when he’s comfortable at home, he wears a simple short sleeved white shirt tucked inside blue trousers. Boy has got the “drip”. It’s true that everyone looks good in comfortable clothes, for me at least.
Along with other good qualities, our boy has a few flaws which is having a big ego. Ego is the enemy afterall. He’s very straightforward and doesn’t like when someone is looking down on him. Due to his personal life being messed up, he doesn’t like when someone calls him poor or something else like that. It’s understandable, growing up in poverty isn’t easy. You have to work very hard to turn the tables upside down. He literally works hard so that he and his family can move out of that small apartment and live somewhere big.
Futaro also tends to care a lot about his family, especially his younger sister. Even though she’s a bit annoying yet she’s understanding and doesn’t demand much. She’s quite mature for her age. I’ll let you know about her in a bit. Let’s go, find out a bit more about Futaro’s cute younger sister.
Raiha Uesugi
Raiha Uesugi is the younger sister of Futaro. She’s very cute and does house chores. Despite being an elementary student, she can do anything an adult is supposed to do. She’s very mature for her age. Maybe it’s the circumstances that made her the way she is.
Raiha Uesugi grew up different from other kids. While the others are going out, eating ice cream and riding on different rides in an amusement park, she can’t experience anything like that because they’re poor. Sometimes it makes her sad but she doesn’t show it. This shows how emotionally strong she is.
She’s a slim girl with long black hair that is tied into a ponytail from the front. I really like her cute hairstyle. Don’t you guys like it as well? Her big green eyes make her look very kawaii. She’s very cheerful and energetic. Raiha is the type of person who can’t see others sad, and if someone around her is sad, she makes sure to cheer them up and bring smiles to their faces.
She’s also the one who takes care of the whole family’s meals. She can do house chores smoothly as she’s used to doing those for a long time now. She cares a lot about her brother and father. She’s also very concerned about the future of her brother which is very sweet of her. Isn’t that right?
Isanari Uesugi (THE DAD)
Isanari Uesugi is the father of Futaro and Raiha. He doesn’t look like a father, does he? Come on, he’s too good-looking to be called a father. Isanari has spiky brown hair and also has a bulked up muscular body. He mostly wears sunglasses on his forehead. He really looks very nice. He has a very wild character, he has always been bad at studying and Futaro had the same problem five years ago. But Futaro improved himself by working hard and due to the difficult circumstances.
Miku Nakano
It’s time for the Nakano sisters now. We have Miku Nakano first, she has a very timid personality. She seems very quiet and tends to wear headphones all the time with her messy hair covering her face. She looks really cute though, not gonna lie. Miku Nakano is a pessimist, she tends to look down on herself at times. In contrast to her reserved side, she tends to get straightforward when there’s injustice or when she’s with someone she’s comfortable around.
We’ve seen Miku quite possessive at times too, she doesn’t really want her tutor to get along with her own sisters. She seems to love her tutor and wants to make him proud. That’s all the reason she starts to study hard.
Yotsuba Nakano
Yotsuba Nakano is also one of Nakano’s sisters. She is physically fit, active, and cheerful too. She’s a laid-back person who can’t say no to other people. Yotsuba is very absent-minded and clueless. OMG, she sounds a lot like me. I’m dying HAHA.
Even though we see her cheerful in front of everyone, she’s hiding her feeling of inferiority behind that smiling mask. She’s a bad liar and she has to try hard to express her feelings to other people too. Yotsuba is seen mostly helping others directly or indirectly.
Nino Nakano
Nino Nakano is the motherly sister. She cooks for her sisters and tends to take responsibility for their actions. She’s quite responsible and adult-like out of all the sisters. She’s extroverted and loves going out, she’s a social butterfly. She’s definitely very mature and craves for love at times too.
Even if someone’s rude to her, she tries to stay calm and fix the matter. Her one and only interest in this world is romance. She’s a romanticist.
Itsuki Nakano
Itsuki Nakano is one of the crybabies in the family. She’s chubby but diligent, she likes to work hard and see the results afterwards. As compared to her sisters, she wakes up earlier than them. She tends to bear grudges when someone does her bad. She’s smart and mostly speaks in a formal way to everyone. It makes her stand out from other characters in the anime.
She eats a lot and has a huge appetite too. She is seen hungry throughout the series. While others are busy doing their things, she’s always eating at a corner. HAHA, if you can relate do let us know in the comments down below.
Ichika Nakano
Ichika Nakano is one of the Nakano sisters who took the role of a proper elder sister. She’s calm and composed most of the time. Futaro noticed that her smile is fake and how she should get rid of that smile and start being genuinely happy. That made her get inspired by Futaro. Therefore, she starts studying seriously and tries her best to ace the exams.
Rena Nakano
Rena Nakano is the mother of these Nakano sisters. She’s the deceased wife of Maruo Nakano. She gave birth to these quintuplets, she was quite introverted, strict, and a stern woman. She used to teach students as well, that’s why she used to be so strict with them. However, as a teacher, she was very forgiving too. For instance, she easily forgave her students who caused small troubles. She understood students for being the way they were. We all are idiots in our youth afterall.
