Kaguya-Sama: Love is War has amassed a sizable fan base worldwide ever since its debut in spring 2019. Like every other fantastic anime show, this one has a cult-like fanbase. Season one was a huge success, and season two was even better.
After more than a year since the last season, fans are eager to learn when season 3 will premiere. So, I did some digging for you all.
Table of Contents
If you don’t know already, Kaguya-Sama: Love is War is a high school anime series about two elite students who both have affections for each other but refuse to reveal their feelings since, to them, love is a war, and the first to declare their feelings loses. We now follow the protagonists as each devises elaborate and devious strategies to persuade the other to confess their feelings first.

‘Kaguya Sama: Love is War’ might as well be a regular high school anime. However, what sets it apart is the exceptionally well-written humor and characters. It has a self-contained format for the most part, with each episode focused on a different comic scenario based on the battle of wits between its two lead characters. Despite this, each episode has a loosely connected overall plot.
While the first season concentrated exclusively on Kaguya and Miyuki’s amusing tsundere confrontations, the second season focuses on their love efforts and even reveals some of their backstories. With this, you already know how fantastic season 3 will be and why it’s generating so much buzz.
In this article, you’ll find everything you need to know about Kaguya-Sama: Love is War season 3. Without further ado, let’s get right into it.

Season 3 of Kaguya-Sama: Love Is War 2022 Release Date
RELEASE DATE

Following the conclusion of Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season 2, fans have been eagerly awaiting the following season. We first learned that Season 3 would debut October 25, 2020, via Funimation, but things didn’t go as planned owing to the impact of Covid-19 on the production.
Since then, the fans have been patiently waiting to receive an update. Finally, on October 20, 2021, a teaser trailer video and a special poster were published, confirming the release date of season 3 for spring 2022 (April).
This nearly ten-minute teaser was so well-made that I didn’t want it to stop. The teaser is an adaptation of the manga’s chapter 110: “Yu Ishigami wants to discuss it”, a delightfully meta-story which pokes fun at the public’s opinion of otakus and anime fans. The voice cast, as always, is to credit for the near-perfect comedic timing of the anime version.

The official title for season 3 will be Kaguya-Sama: Love is War – Ultra Romantic. So, there you have it, Kaguya-Sama: Love is War – Ultra Romantic release date is confirmed for spring (April) 2022 .
There was no specific date for its release, but hey, at least we got a month, so that’s something. Let’s just hope it doesn’t get further delayed. We’ve had enough of waiting!
PREDICTED CAST

This show stars Kaguya and Miyuki, but it wouldn’t be a true rom-com without an outstanding cast of supporting characters. In the first season, there were just four main characters, but with the second season’s release, prospective new characters were introduced, making the show significantly more fascinating than before.
Usually, it doesn’t work when a new main character is added later in the series, but it did in this case, as one would expect from A-1 Studios.
Details regarding new potential characters for the third season are yet to be revealed, but we do know even if they add more characters, it will be as unique as, if not better than, the previous seasons.

However, while we wait for the release, it’s safe to say Kaguya-Sama: Love is War –Ultra Romantic will be featuring the majority of the original cast and crew members. Including:
- Mamoru Hatakeyama (The series director)
- Aoi Koga who voiced Kaguya Shinomiya
- Makoto Furukawa who voiced Miyuki Shirogane
- Konomi Kohara who voiced Chika Fujiwara
- Ryota Suzuki who voiced Yuu Ishigami
- Yumiri Hanamori who voiced Ai Hayasaka
- Miyu Tomita who voiced Miko Iino
And let’s not forget the narrator, Yutaka Aoyama
Mamoru Hatakeyama

Mamoru Hatakeyama is a Japanese filmmaker as well as a storyboard artist popularly known for directing Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju (2016). He has done a wonderful job directing Kaguya-sama: Love is War so far and we hope to see something different/unique this coming season.
Aoi Koga

Aoi Koga is a well-known voice actress. Throughout her Seiyuu career, she has played several other notable primary and minor roles, including Komi Shoko (Komi Can’t Communicate), Rokuta Kamado (Demon Slayer Mugen train), Mona Tsukishiro (My Senpai Is Annoying), Yamamoto (Blue Period), and Paimon (Genshin Impact) among others.
Since the beginning of the series, Aoi Koga has been voice acting Kaguya Shinomiya and has been doing an excellent job so far. She seems like the perfect fit for the role, perfectly capturing the character’s cold demeanor and mood swings.
It has been confirmed that Aoi Koga will continue her role as Kaguya Shinomiya in the coming season. Kaguya is the main heroine of the story, the vice president of Shuchiin Academy’s student council, and a member of the Shinomiya Zaibatsu.

She is a multi-talented genius who can accomplish anything if she sets her mind to it. Because of her upbringing in the Shinomiya family, she has a natural tendency to look down on others and think of methods to exploit them for her personal gain.
She doesn’t truly understand love, but she wants her relationship with Miyuki Shirogane to be as “normal” as possible. Who will get to confess their feelings first? We’ll find out in the coming season.
Makoto Furukawa

Furukawa is a renowned singer and voice actor known for voicing a wide range of characters, from comical to serious ones. He is popular for his roles as Saitama in One Punch Man, Benimaru in That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, and Miyuki Shirogane in Kaguya-sama: Love is War.
Since the beginning of the series, Makoto Furukawa has voiced Miyuki Shirogane and has been confirmed to continue his role in the coming season.

Miyuki is the series’ main character. He is the student council president at Shuchiin Academy. He’s literally addicted to work; he studies for ten hours a day and, on top of that, works part-time jobs, leading to a life where no one knows how or when he sleeps.
While he’s head over heels in love with Kaguya (the vice president of the school council), he’s reluctant to confess his feelings to her because he believes that the person who confesses his or her affections would be the weaker person in the relationship. Will he be the one to confess first in the future? We’ll find out in the coming season.
Konomi Kohara

Kohara is a renowned Japanese actress and voice actress. Popular for her role as Akane Mizuno (Tsuki ga Kirei), Roxy Migurdia (Mushoku Tensei) and Chika Fujiwara (Kaguya-sama: Love is War).
It has been confirmed that Kohara would continue her role as Fujiwara in the coming season of Kaguya-Sama: Love is War. Fujiwara is the Shuchiin Academy student council’s secretary. She has been friends with Kaguya since middle school. She’s sassy, enjoys gossiping, and her carelessness frequently sabotages Miyuki’s and Kaguya’s schemes.
Ryota Suzuki

While Ryota is still considered a mid-level voice actor who wasn’t featured on major series, he’s still killing it in the industry. He has done a really great job so far as Yuu Ishigami’s voice actor, and he will continue this role in the forthcoming season of the show.
Yuu Ishigami is the student council’s treasurer and an underclassman to other members of the council. He is a keen observer, recognizing things that others are hiding and occasionally gets in trouble for pointing out those things.
According to Aka Akasaka (the creator of Kaguya-sama: Love is War), Yu’s character was created in a way that wouldn’t interfere with the relationship between Kaguya, Miyuki, and Chika. Yu is torn between being a main character and being a sidekick as he’s portrayed as a quiet character with little presence and the ability to come and go at will, which has been proven to be handy as a recurring gag.
Yumiri Hanamori

Another mid-level but incredible voice actor. Yumiri has played a number of notable and minor roles including: Seth in Radiant, Kagamihara, Nadeshiko in Yuru camp, Ayukawa Ryuuji in Blue Period and Ai Hayasaka in Kaguya-sama: Love is War.
Yumiri has voiced Hayasaka since the beginning of the series and has been confirmed to continue his role in the coming season.
Besides being Kaguya’s personal assistant and childhood friend, Ai Hayasaka’s father also happens to be Kaguya’s godfather, while her mother used to be Kaguya’s wet nurse. The two girls were raised together until Kaguya was moved to the Shinomiya main residence at age two. They then reunited 5years later and began their official master/servant relationship.
Miyu Tomita

Miyu Tomita is a young voice actor and singer new to the industry. She is popular for her role as Riko (Made in Abyss) and Otako (Please Tell Me! Galko-chan), among others. This young voice actor is undoubtedly leaving her mark in the industry.
Miyu Tomita seems like the ideal match for Miko Iino, as she has an uncanny ability to capture the character flawlessly. Miko Iino didn’t appear on the show until the second season. Her inclusion contributed to the story overall in a positive way.
It has been confirmed that Miyu Tomita will continue her role as Miko Iino in the forthcoming season. Miko Iino is a first-year student and disciplinary committee member.

Despite the fact that she is a freshman, she competed against Miyuki Shirogane for student council president. Unfortunately, she lost, but Shirogane offered her a position as the student council’s financial auditor, which she accepted.
Miko is opinionated and strong-willed, but at the same time, very shy and afraid of public speaking; she can only express herself during candidate speeches when Miyuki turns the scenario into a one-on-one conversation and argument.
Miko was exactly what the show needed in season two, as she gave more depth to the plot and made it more interesting. I’m excited to see what part she plays in the forthcoming season.
Yutaka Aoyama

Yutaka Aoyama is one of the best things that happened to Kaguya-sama: Love is War. I doubt the series would’ve been as successful as it was if it weren’t for his excellent storytelling skills.
He’s a master at capturing the essence of the story’s action and dialogue, as well as the emotions and thoughts of the characters.
PREDICTED PLOT

There haven’t been any new plot lines disclosed yet, but we’re all anticipating a good share of comedic slice-of-life rom-com drama.
In season two, Miyuki made an extra effort to get Kaguya to confess – he couldn’t seem to decode the signs she was sending, so he made an extra effort to figure out her genuine feelings.
Season three will still continue Miyuki and Kaguya’s war of rom-com misunderstandings. However, because this is the final season, there may be a confession. Of course, this isn’t going to be a smooth ride, so be prepared for some unexpected twists and turns.

Based on how Season 2 ended, spoilers for Kaguya-sama Season 3 assume that the third season will begin with the adaptation of Manga Volume 10: Chapter 92.
Kaguya-sama: season 2 ended between Manga Chapters 100 and 101, which comprise the “Cell Phone Arc,” As a result, fans should anticipate seeing the adaptation of events like “the midterm examinations” from Chapter 105, “the rap fight” from Chapter 108, and possibly even “the many Christmas parties” from Chapters 149 to 156 in Season 3. Do note that these are all speculations and may or may not be true.
PRODUCTION

Kaguya-Sama: Love is War Season 3 will not be changing studios, which means it will continue to be produced by A-1 Pictures, which is most known for notable anime such as Sword Art Online and The Seven Deadly Sins (Before they switched to Studio DEEN in Season 3).
Under the pseudonym of Mamoru Hatakeyama, director Shinichi Omata is once again in charge of the production. He has directed popular anime like Record of Grancrest War and worked as an episode director on Puella Magi Madoka Magica in the past.
The art and animation of the first season were decent; however, it does get better with every season, and we’re all hoping for more clean and crisp animation in the forthcoming season.
Oh yes, did I mention the soundtracks?
This anime’s soundtrack is both captivating and epic in equal measure. They are made in a heavenly style, and the transition between them and how they are used in the series is simply stunning.
I can’t get enough of the openings and endings, and I’m always constantly yelling “Daddy Daddy do” out of the blue, lol. It’s that bad! They’ve already set the bar high with the openings and endings, so they better not let us down now.
