10+ BEST Military Manhwa (RECOMMENDATIONS)

Before we get into the topic, let’s get some clarity out of the way. I know it’s common knowledge that most people often get confused, when you mention the word “manga” and “manhwa”. And that is brought about by the relatively close similarities they both have, and just a few differences. Before I delve into the heart of the gist of what I have for you today, let me point out the differences between both.

Simply put, Manga refers to comics of Japanese origin, and as you’d have noticed, are usually without color. But Manhwa, on the other hand, are comics of Korean origin and are artistry in the sense that they’re usually colored. If you want to look at a more detailed explanation on the difference between manga, manhwa, and manhua, look here!

Now in this blog, I shall take you on a cruise ride of some top 10+ manhwas that center mainly around military activities, so much so they’d give you a feel of what being in the military feels like. So why not just get comfy, grab some popcorn, and join me on this.

And to make this an even more pleasant experience for you, we’ve arranged them all with respect to some criteria, pretty much like we’ve ranked them!

Manhwa Storyline:

The manhwa’s plot centers on a group of individuals who enrolled in the army as a result of required duty. They are, however, allocated to a mountain, not a platoon. The plot follows Ryu Yeon-Seong, a 21-year-old young man, and his friends as they engage in combat in the mountains and attempt to rescue as many lives as possible.

Other perks of this manhwa include how it talks about collaboration, the will to succeed at all costs, and the military activities as it relates to mountain climbing. And just like other Korean manhwa, it’s colored, but due to the effects being overused, it depends on the quality, but overall it is one you’d love to read.

Manhwa Storyline:

Who said military manhwa couldn’t talk about love and romance? In my opinion, I’d call this the perfect Korean manhwa imitation of Romeo and Juliet, with just a few alterations and changes in the plot, as Abu Dhabi Romance tells of the forbidden love between a Middle-Eastern woman, and a Korean man who’s got a full plate.

But I just do not like unsatisfactory endings which could leave you itching for more. If you want to know what I mean, why not go check it out yourself, and see for yourself what “Abu Dhabi Romance” tells us about.

Manhwa Storyline:

Now here is one manhwa you could classify as being dark. But what exactly makes it dark? Well, the answer to that lies in the story itself, as it tells of some students who got drafted into the military for a particular reason. And as it even goes, it’s almost like saying there’s no future, and you just find yourself asking: “who would survive?”

From the bunch of Korean comics I’ve come across, you just probably won’t see one as gripping as Duty After School. With all its story has got to offer, including the actions and all military activities, and its characters, it’ll surely suck you in.

Manhwa Storyline:

Ares is an action-packed manhwa with a lot of combat and military activities. And it does center around Ares, whose objective was to avenge his instructor, Kiron. To do that, he became a member of Temple Mercenaries, where he met three new friends: Barrona, Gogh, and Michael.

Asides from the combat and fighting used in the manhwa, the writer’s ability to provide context for every character in the manhwa gave it some degree of preference over another manhwa out there.

In general, Ares is a very action-packed novel that is really pleasant to read provided you don’t mind people being slain.

Manhwa Storyline:

70 is more than just a number, and it doesn’t talk about a platoon or a battalion of 70 soldiers, but something more. It has been 70 years since the Korean War ended on 27th July, 1953. After seven decades, a new battle erupts on the Korean peninsula. And now we see that the powder keg of North Eastern Asia is given a little spark by a tiny ember

This 32-chaptered manhwa speaks not just about military and war, it encompasses other aspects such as scifi also. And it is one you’d surely love to read. Trust me on that.

Yo! Of course, it’s no news that there are also women in the armed forces, right? But picture this: a lady so beautiful that she would’ve been better off being a model, conscripting in the military. I know you might ask “and what if she does, right?”

Well, to answer all questions you have about Su-ah, do well to look up this cool military Korean Manhwa as it shares her personal experience in the army, the military life she has to live, and how she portrays the true power of all the great females out there!.

Manhwa Storyline:

Now here is one manhwa I’d like to even write a great poem on, mainly because of the diversity in the nature of the soldiers in the 11-man-platoon our MC found himself in. One funny thing to note is the fact that our protagonist, Corporal Chan Soo Gim, tagged along with the platoon as a cameraman, and that into a DMZ!!!

This Manhwa delivers on its promises: a full-color psychological horror Korean manhwa. The tale might be perplexing at times, and the characters can be difficult to identify, but it does not diminish its greatness.

However, one thing is certain: you do not want to MIA from this narrative!

It tells the story of Izare and Jino, two brothers who were abandoned at a secret military camp, and after the escape of Jino, Izare becomes a perfect killing machine. But what’s the actual story behind Maria, the boy’s lives and also the camp itself? Go check all that out, bro!

When it rains, you see showers of cold water, and when you mention steel rain, what comes to your mind? Maybe a shower of steel pellets, or bullets perhaps? Well, you’re just a step away from being completely right, as that is exactly what this manhwa is about.

Though quite colorful, Steel Rain tells of the staged coup that came up after Kim Jong-Il’s death, an impending nuclear war, and a hostage situation. All of this with a Blue House assistant secretary, Park, in the middle of it all.

Just how would Park use his wits and cons to battle through this, and yet secure the release of his pregnant wife? Find out more from the manhwa fam.

Even when you hear the name, what picture comes to your mind? A colorful Korean manhwa with loads of combat and fighting, typical of military life and also the gory aspect of such living. This manhwa would redefine your love for Korean comics centered on military life and activities.

It’s just a bit of a pain that the amazing storyline was made short, and it would most definitely leave you itching for the story behind Dex and his brothers, and also development on other characters, as you go along the wonderfully crafted and written plot.
