Luck seemed to be on Makoto Naegi’s side when he discovered that he got accepted into Hope’s Peak Private Academy. In feudal Japan, a “Medicine Seller” travels around the land in search of spirits that he can exorcise. Though his body may look like a child’s, his intellect is quite intact. He decides to hide his identity and helps out the senior Mouri solve cases from the background. He gets quite creative with his sleuthing and is also on the mission to hunt down the organization that created the drug, hoping to reverse the effects.

Things are quite different in Japan at the age of the 22nd century. The Sibyl System is responsible for determining the mental state of its citizens whether they are showing symptoms of criminal intent, or their Psycho-Pass. If found with latent criminal symptoms, the Inspectors do their duty by subjugating their target, sometimes killing them if their Psycho-Pass is too high.
Alongside them are Enforcers, these are inspectors who became latent criminals. However, they are granted their freedom given that they provide help to their Inspectors. This was the job of Akane Tsunemori, she came into this part of the world to uphold justice and go by the books. But her work goes beyond that as she is subjected to just how easy it can be to become a latent criminal.
