Over the years anime has come a long way in terms of storytelling and animation quality and it has also made the viewers very hard to please.
Nowadays, if the animation is mediocre, there is a big chance most viewers will just drop the anime. (Don’t be that guy. Trust me, you’re not that guy)
Table of Contents
So, here are 16 anime you definitely won’t drop because of their animation.
Table of Content
16. Sword Art Online

| 7 | 7 | 6 | 20 |
Considered in the anime community as one of the trashiest anime to ever exist with multiple plot holes and cheats that only favor the main character, Sword Art Online has one thing that works for it still to this day.
It has amazing fighting choreography. The show is based on an in-game fantasy world. So, the fight scenes are very flashy and well-choreographed.

Talking about the plot, Kirito, a gaming nerd, gets his hands on a console called NerveGear and plays the latest game called Sword Art Online, only to find out that the gamemaster has trapped everyone in the game and the only way to log out is to finish the game.
Story-wise the show isn’t that good but if you want to watch a trashy anime with amazing fights, then give Sword Art Online a try.
15. Noragami

															| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | 6.5 | 7.5 | 21 |
Did you ever wish to know how the Gods are living in the present era? Well, Bones Studio brings you Noragami. A show that tells us how the life of Japanese Gods is and how some of them are on the verge of extinction because of people stopping to believe in them.
One of these Gods named Yato is our protagonist, who once being the god of calamity is now known as a minor deity. Yato is looked down upon by the other gods (aww, the Yato Cat being rejected by his own people?).

Being friends with Hiyori, Yato, and Yukine, they start their daily shenanigans, annoying Hiyori and helping her in her daily life. In return, Yato got his first believer after centuries.
The show does an excellent job of showing how important Hiyori is to Yato and when anyone tries to harm Hiyori, we are once again reminded why YATO IS THE GOD OF CALAMITY.
The show has amazing visuals and fighting scenes and excellent comedy. It does have some cliché but it’s pretty good and how can I forget, amazing opening and ending songs. You must check this one out!
14. Prison School

															| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | 8 | 7 | 21 |
Even though J.C Staff is a hit or miss sometimes, they bring out some of the best animations that just stay with us in our memories and we bring out those inside jokes during our meet-up with friends.
I know what many of you might say now, Prison School is not an animation masterpiece, and you are right.

It’s not a masterpiece but it still deserves its place in this list. If you have any background in animation work experience, then you know how difficult it is to line up character animation with the punchline of the joke.
I feel J.C Staff did a perfect job in giving us one of the best comedy anime that always hits those punch lines right on time.
There is no over-the-top animation and visuals in the show. It’s just a bunch of boys doing goofy stuff and shitting inside the classroom.
13. My Hero Academia

| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7.5 | 7 | 7 | 21.5 |
Animated by Studio Bones and making the first-ever Japanese avengers-like series that turned out to be one of the best shounen anime ever made.
Winning a bunch of awards in 2017, My Hero Academia is a story about a quirkless or powerless boy named Midoriya, who is struggling and growing to become the number #1 hero in the future.
Though the story is mostly based on Midoriya, the side characters often steal the show. Bakugo and Todoroki in general have some of the best-animated fights Studio Bones has ever had to offer.

The show is mostly filled with daily life and training ARCs of UA High students. But when it comes to different villain ARCs, My Hero Academia just delivers the action to the viewers.
The show has its own hype moments and has an amazing storyline and growth for the characters. Also, Midoriya is a crybaby and Bakugo is the best boy.
12. Food Wars

															| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | 8 | 7 | 22 |
Do you like food? Well, fear no more J.C Staff has you covered. Introducing Food Wars, the first anime that is all about creating amazing food with the unconventional mix of food romance and people moaning from people eating delicious foods.
Anime foods have always been visually pleasing. We’ve seen Ghibli movies and know the food in those movies looks out of the world, just beautiful. J.C Staff takes food animation to another level.

From the chopping of ingredients to cooking animation and finally the presentation of the food. Everything looks clean and visually pleasing.
Though the show has the problem of following a similar plot every arc, the show is just a pleasure to see and get hungry just to find out you forgot to restock your fridge.
11.Compulsive Gambler

															| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7.5 | 7.5 | 8 | 23 |
Is this blog me writing a love letter to MAPPA? Or does MAPPA just bring out too many visually pleasing shows? If you’ve seen Kaiji and miss that adrenaline rush but you have your 12-year-old kid with you and don’t want to traumatize the kid, then just start watching Compulsive Gambler (Kakegurui).
Compulsive Gambler is a show based on high school full of rich kids who are bored with their lives and have too much money to waste. So, what do they do? They start a high school casino, where every decision is made by gambling.

The show gives you the dread and fear of losing something but then slaps that child-friendly rating on and they don’t actually lose anything very important, unlike the anime Kaiji did.
But the show is animated to perfection. Whenever there is a gambling scene going on, you can literally feel the room getting heavy and get chills. The story is decent. So, if you’re into gambling and I hope you’re not into that but do watch the show. It’s pretty sick.
10.Yuri on Ice

															| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | 7 | 9 | 23 |
Another day, another masterpiece made by MAPPA. Though the show was memed by trolls calling it Yaoi on Ice.
If you look across the meme and actually watch the show, you will find a guy who is passionate about ice skating and learns how to figure skate and show his talent to the world.
Do you know how hard it is to animate any sports anime frame by frame? Figure skating is the same thing.

MAPPA did an excellent job in showing Yuri being glamourous and the visuals are overall a 10/10.
Plot-wise, Yuri, after being defeated at the Grand Prix Finale, returns home to figure out his future. Luckily Yuri gains the attention of Victor, a former five-time champion in skating.
The story is about how Yuri compromises his love for pork cutlets and grows as a figure skater with the help of Victor.
9. Hyouka

															| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | 7 | 7 | 23 |
Animated by Kyoto Animation studio, Hyouka introduces us to a high school drama that is filled with amazing visuals that make you wish your high school days were as good as this.
Houtarou, our MC, wants to spend his high school life doing nothing and spending as little energy as he can. You know that’s not going to happen when Chitanada appears in his life. Chitanda is a girl filled with questions and curiosity.

Accompanied by Houtarou’s other club members, we get a story about how these kids solve different mysteries surrounding their high school.
The story also shows us how Chitanda pushes Houtaro to do better and come out of his lazy lifestyle. The show is binge-worthy and if you’re into high school drama then you just have a 10/10 show in your hands.
8. Demon Slayer

| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8.5 | 8 | 7 | 23.5 |
Animated by Studio Ufotable, Demon Slayer has become one of the best anime ever created. Winning anime of the year in 2019,
Demon Slayer is a show about a boy named Tanjiro, who after the death of his father has taken the burden of feeding his family on his shoulders.
And one day, Tanjiro comes to his home and finds his entire family massacred except Nezuko, his sister. But Nezuko had been turned into a bloodthirsty demon. Consumed by rage and determination to turn his sister back to human, Tanjiro joins the demon slayers and seeks out the murderer.

Demon Slayer is filled with amazing sword fights and even amazing animated visuals of the fights. Especially in episode 19.
Studio Ufotable really showed the viewers what they are capable of animating if they give it their 100%. Also, Shinobu is waifu material.
7. Attack on Titan

															| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 7 | 9 | 7.5 | 23.5 |
An anime that has two amazing production studios, from season 1-3, Attack on Titan was produced by Wit Studio, but in season 4 the adaptation was given to MAPPA and some people were skeptical about whether or not MAPPA can deliver the same quality of animation that Wit Studio had been delivering.
It was a shocker when everyone saw MAPPA deliver movie-quality animations and eye-catching visuals. Fans praised MAPPA after every episode (except for that one CGI episode, we don’t talk about that.) on social media.

Plot-wise, Attack on Titan is about mankind trying to save themselves from extinction and trapping them into a cage-like city, thinking it’s their Eden. But when the Titans break the walls of the city, mankind has to defend themselves at any cost.
Our protagonist, Eren, having somehow gotten the power of the Titans, is now mankind’s last resort to their survival. On this journey, Eren discovers many secrets of the world that he lives in and has to choose if he is going to save humans or join the Titans.
Describing Attack on Titan is really tough as I could very easily spoil important plots. But I can say this, the POTATO girl is the best girl. She brings a breath of comic relief in this dark series.
6. Parasyte: The Maxim

| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | 8.5 | 9 | 25.5 |
Here is a name that you don’t hear that often. Us old-school anime watchers knew the weight of the name Madhouse when we used to hear they were working on an anime.
Madhouse at one time had a track record of bringing out some of the best anime that people would talk about for years. This is one of Madhouse’s best works.
Parasyte: The Maxim is a show about the earth being infected by alien-like parasites that take over the human brain and make them intelligent murdering creatures that are going to take over the earth.

It’s an amazing sci-fi show that shows us the life of Shinichi, who, by luck or accident did not get his body taken over by the parasites and instead had his hand taken over.
Making a deal with the parasite, Shinichi now has inhuman strength and reflexes and is on a mission to save the earth and coexist with this parasitic creature in his arms.
5.Haikyuu!!

															| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | 8 | 10 | 26 |
Remember, me saying it is really tough to animate sports anime? It is because of all the movement happening every moment, it becomes hard for the viewer to focus on one single character. So, how do you make this work? You do what Production I.G did with Haikyu.
Haikyuu is a show inspired by Volleyball and it shows how a short boy named Hinata struggles to play volleyball in the big leagues.
Hinata wanting to become like his idol Little Giant, joins the volleyball team where he meets King of the Court, Tobio Kageyama.

Kageyama, being a former genius, but with weak teamplay skills is now in a team with Hinata, and with their powers combined, they find a way to squash their opponents.
The show is about dedication to something and giving up everything to follow that dream.
The story is very well written and the animation is so dramatic that it just sticks your eyes to the screen. You feel like you might miss something if you blink. Overall, it’s a good show, watch it.
4. Made in Abyss

| 9 | 9 | 8 | 26 |
Do you like fantasy worlds? Do you like sci-fi robots? Do you like little girls? Don’t answer the last one. Kinema Citrus has brought you Made in Abyss.
It’s a show that has all those things and it just works. One of the most visually pleasing shows to ever exist and the story is actually good.

Made in Abyss is pretty dark even though it looks pretty and child-friendly. The show is about Riko and a robot boy named Reg exploring the Abyss, a world that’s into the depths of the earth filled with monsters and mysteries.
Together with Reg, Riko goes on a journey to explore the Abyss.
3. Jujutsu Kaisen

															| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 | 10 | 9 | 27 |
Bow down, because the God of all studios has arrived. Mappa Studio has been steamrolling recently, pushing out hit after hit shows. Jujutsu Kaisen is one of Mappa’s best works.
Filled with amazing character design and excellently choreographed fighting scenes and can I just say Mappa gave extra effort while animating Gojo Satoru. I mean look at those Godly Eyes of Gojo.

Let’s get serious, do you like the supernatural? Jujutsu Kaisen is a story about supernatural monsters or curses, haunting humans, and a group of exorcists called Jujutsu sorcerers exorcising the curses.
Our main protagonist is named Itadori Yuji, who has somehow found a cursed object named Sukuna’s finger. Suddenly being targeted by all these supernatural beings Itadori makes the reckless decision of becoming the vessel of Sukuna, earning him the powers of Sukuna and exorcising curses.

The show has amazing visual effects and great fight choreography.
If that wasn’t enough the show’s story is really intriguing and keeps you hooked thinking what might happen next. If you wanted an example of how a perfect show is animated? Well, this might be it.
2. Fate/Stay Night

															| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 9 | 10 | 10 | 29 |
This is an anime that I have no idea where to start from and where it ends. It’s like the Monogatari series for gamers. Being adapted from visual novels and released as a promotion for their Fate series games, Fate/Stay Night is one of the best marketing strategies
I have ever seen. How much did Studio Ufotable get paid to make the visuals this good?

Story-wise I have absolutely no idea which season comes after which but every time there is a fight, the Fate series just hits differently. The most iconic fight would be Gilgamesh VS Berserker.
When that scene happened to us, the viewers just went like “what just happened?”. This is probably the first time I think I’m going to say this, forget the story because you won’t get it and just watch a visual masterpiece unfold.
1. Violet Evergarden

| Art | Quality | Fluidity | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| 10 | 10 | 10 | 30 |
Considered as one of the best animation studios in Japan, Kyoto Animation studio made a masterpiece named Violet Evergarden.
Even after the tragedy of Kyoto Animation studio, they still put out amazing animation, proving the fact that they are very dedicated to their work and nothing can stop them from creating amazing shows.
Violet Evergarden is a laid-back show with less action and more ambiance. Our protagonist, Violet, is a war veteran returning from war. She was raised only for the purpose of war.

So, there are many times when she does not understand normal human emotions.
To rehabilitate her to normal society Violet gets a job to write letters which are known as DOLLS and through her letters, she learns about happiness, sadness, anger, rage, grief, regret, and more.
The show is a tearjerker and every episode you watch you will feel goosebumps on your hands because the visuals are so clean. Even if you’re not into this genre, you have to watch this show to understand how good it is.
What's your most favorite Mappa Anime?

Finally, as honorable mentions, I would like to say One piece WANO ARC, Monogatari series, Mob Psycho 100, Donganronpa also have amazing visuals but just didn’t get a spot in the list because of how over the top visuals these anime in the list have.
Which Anime do you think has the best animation? What? I can’t hear you? But I can see so we can comment down below. 😲

You have the nerve to ignore mushoku tensei from the list huh. The audacity!
