Hi guys! Welcome to another list of recommendations! Today, we will talk about anime you must watch before you die! I will suggest some of my favorite anime ever and rank them according to different statistics so that you can choose a good and enjoyable series. Though I must remind you that this list is based on my personal opinions, so I sure do hope that you’ll still like it! Without further ado, let’s start!

One day he becomes, very reluctantly, the guitar teacher of Mafuyu Sato, a shy boy. Ritsuka realizes that Mafuyu has an incredible voice and invites him to join the band as a singer. However, with time Ritsuka finds out that Mafuyu’s guitar was previously owned by Yuki Yoshida, Mafuyu’s boyfriend, who committed suicide not long before the events started.

Arslan is the young prince of Pars, but he just doesn’t seem to have the qualities to become a respected King like his father. At the age of 14, Arslan participates in his first battle, which ends terribly. Here he will lose everything, since he is unable to stop the destruction of what was once his glorious kingdom. However, Arslan’s fate is to sit on the throne, so he begins a journey to regain it, with the help of Daryoon, an officer of the army of the King whose task is to protect the legitimate heir to the throne.

After death, humans go to heaven or hell. But some, in the instant of their death, arrive at Quindecim, a bar where the mysterious and lone barman, Decim, works. Decim makes them challenge a deadly game in which the participants “risk their lives”, revealing their true nature, so that they can be evaluated and it’s decided if their souls will go into the void or if they will reincarnate. How they behave throughout the game will affect Decim’s judgment of their souls.

I don’t understand the reason why literally no one talks about this anime! It’s a brilliant gem with a well-written plot and amazing characters with a historical setting!

In the 11th year of the Meiji period, samurai were slowly disappearing, due to the ban on carrying swords. However, there were some people who did not like the changes taking place in Japan and inevitably the crime rate has increased. To stop this rebellion, the State therefore decided to imprison those criminals. The only way to access the large prison was to cross the waters of a river, so it was necessary to recruit someone to escort the criminals to their new “residence.” This task was entrusted to the three boys of the Kumo family.

The story is set in Japan halfway between the Edo period and the present. The aliens called Amanthus attacked the Earth and, after a war, they forced the shogunate to surrender. They prohibited the wearing of the katana in public, effectively cancelling the samurai caste. The plot centers on the eccentric Gintoki Sakata—a young man who hasn’t lost the samurai spirit, his apprentice Shinpachi Shimura, and a young alien named Kagura. They are freelancers working together as “handymen” in order to pay the monthly rent of their place.

The city has now become the home of humans but also of supernatural creatures, such as vampires and werewolves, who live in a sort of peaceful coexistence. The secret society “Libra” is fighting crimes to maintain peace and balance between the two communities. It is made up of supermen and monsters and is led by the werewolf, Klaus V. Reinherz.

From the blessed pen of Tezuka Osamu, this series is an amazing remake that is totally worth watching!

Hyakkimaru is a young samurai who fights and destroys demons. As soon as he was born, twelve parts of his body were taken from him by twelve demons. Abandoned by his parents, he is found by a surgeon who decides to keep him. Aware of the mental powers of the shapeless newborn, the surgeon provides him with an artificial body with which Hyakkimaru can use to go hunting for the demons who stole his arms, legs, eyes, ears, sense of heat and cold… Hyakkimaru is later joined by the very young thief, Dororo.

This is a classic! Yeah, I know, I want Shinichi back too, but it’s actually getting more and more interesting! (Well, my watching method is to skip the filler episodes. It’s more enjoyable this way.)

Conan Edogawa is an elementary school student who possesses an incredible intelligence for someone his age. Well, that’s because he is not a normal seven-year old boy. He is actually seventeen and his name is not Conan, but Shinichi! The thing is that the boy was caught while he was spying on some dangerous men and got drugged, so that his body has shrunken. Now that he is in this condition, his goal is to find those men again and regain his former body. However, it seems that these men are part of a dangerous criminal organization. What will Shinichi, or rather, Conan do?

13. Noragami

This series is so underrated. I’m sure that, if you give it a chance, the charismatic Yato will conquer your heart!

There are three main characters: the God Yato, a minor god who seeks new customers by advertising himself through social networks and offer his services at the modest price of 5 yen; then there is Yukine, Yato’s “divine instrument”, which in case of danger transforms into a katana; and Hiyori, the only human, a fourteen-year-old girl, who after an incident, has become a half-ghost. The three have to face the spirits that populate the human and otherworldly realm.

I’m in love with this anime and its aesthetic. For whoever likes mysterious and supernatural elements, this is the series for you!

Kimihiro Watanuki is a young student who has the ability to see invisible spirits, but sadly he is also troubled by this ability. One day, he happens to enter a strange shop and there he meets the mysterious Yuko, a very charming woman who possesses incredible mystical abilities. She claims she can solve Kimihiro’s problem, but also that the service will cost the boy a price equal to the power needed to break his curse. That’s how Kimihiro finds himself at Yuko’s service, as a cook and handyman, discovering that the woman is not what she seems to be.

Tooru is a sweet and kind girl who grew up with her beloved mother. One day, her mother dies in an accident, leaving her daughter all alone. Tooru, who doesn’t have anyone else beside her, starts living in a tent in a wood. However, a typhoon destroys it, making the girl homeless once again. Thankfully, his classmate Yuki Sohma offers her to live with him and his family in exchange for doing the house chores. That’s how our protagonist finds herself living together with Yuki, Shigure, the owner of the house and a novelist, and the bad-tempered Kyo. Little does she know that this strange family hides a secret that will change her life.

If you want to witness an incredible adventure and experience the true value of friendship, this is the perfect anime to watch!

The series is about Gon, son of the famous Hunter Ging Freecss. The boy, raised by his aunt, embarks on a journey to undergo the exam to become a Hunter and also obtain the license, hoping to get closer to his lost father. Hunters are incredible adventurers who, once they pass the admission test, can dedicate themselves to their research around the world and specialize in the most diverse fields. During his adventure he will meet several characters who will accompany him, including Leorio, Kurapika and Killua, who will soon become his inseparable best friend.

In this world do only white and black exist? What about gray? Through this series, you will understand the thin line between good and evil.

The series is set in a dystopian future, where it is possible to instantly measure mental state and personality through a scanning system called Psycho-Pass. When the crime coefficient exceeds a certain threshold, the individual is arrested. The capture task is carried out by a special team of agents and inspectors who use special weapons called “Dominators“, able to shoot only at individuals with a crime coefficient above the threshold. The story revolves around the first unit of the public security department.

I haven’t watched a single episode of this series without crying. It’s so beautiful and moving. Also, the setting and the aesthetics are amazing! I personally believe this is the best Kyoani anime ever.

During a military operation, the armed forces of the Leidenschaftlich capture an orphan with extraordinary fighting skills which they intend to exploit in the war. The orphan is therefore enlisted at a very young age and entrusted to the care of Major Gilbert, who gives her the name of Violet Evergarden and becomes fond of her. Violet, however, having always been exposed to death and destruction, is unable to feel and understand emotions.

After the end of the war, by order of the missing Major Gilbert, Violet is reinstated among the civilians and begins to serve as an automatic writing doll in a postal company; from here on, Violet begins a moving inner journey to discover human emotions and the meaning of the words “I love you“, which Major Gilbert has told her in the last moment shared together.

In a world in which alchemy exists, Edward and Alphonse are two brothers who love studying and using it. However, after their mother’s death, the two of them try to use human transmutation to bring her back to life. This action turns out to be a disaster, since Edward loses some of his limbs and Alphonse his whole body. That’s why the boys embark on a journey to find a legendary object that will help them regain their own bodies.
