Talk about Demon King? Well before Anos came into the spotlight, Demon King Daimao ruled! This has to be the farthest among my list, but it has that touch of demon king cliché and powerful main character that you might be looking for!
The anime focuses on Akuto Sai, just a boy who transferred in Constant Magic Academy, where he dreamed to make the world a better place but instead he was destined to be the demon king.
It’s an interesting anime that is older than Misfit, and if you like Demon Kings as the main character just like The Misfit of Demon King Academy, then you should definitely check this out!

Just Like Anos, the main character is highly skilled and has cool vibes! Both confident in their skills and will fight anyone who stands in their way! They are both badass when it comes to fighting.
The anime’s setting is far different though, it is set in 21st Century dawn, and magic is now part of technology and science. The main character along with his sister enrolled as first year where they are tested to see what their status is.
One of the similarities is that they are both seen as weak by the people around them. With Tastuya ranking low in magic, while Anos being judged because he is not a royal. However, they are both insanely overpowered in combat, and anyone who dares to challenge them while thinking that they have the upper hand, is nothing but a fool who deserves a whooping!

Another Overpowered main character in a school academy! Trinity has a powerful main character! He may not be the Demon Lord yet, but he is a candidate to be!
The story is different to misfit, this follows Arata who causes a breakdown phenomenon resulting in the destruction of his town. Thus, a beautiful woman appeared to him giving him options of handing the book that he was, die or enroll in their school. Certainly, the right choice was to enroll, thus Arata did, which led him encountering Trinity Seven, elite students with power magic and great skills.
In order for him to save his childhood friend and cousin, Arata must use his power to bring her back.
I know it’s far from the storyline, but it still progresses on the birth of a demon lord. Just think of it as The Misfit of demon king academy before Anos became the demon king. Maybe their story is similar? I don’t know! But it would be cool for you guys to check it out!

If there’s one thing you should remember, that is to not summon a demon lord! When it comes to badass demon lords like Anos, Diablo, the main character fits the role! The main character also has two cute waifu beside his side to begin with!
The Anime focuses on the power player named Takuma Sakamoto who was playing his favorite fantasy game called Cross Reverie, he was feared and challenged by many, but everyone fails. His satisfied shut-in lie was shaken when he was summoned by two beautiful girls, an Elf and a Pantherian. When our mc was summoned he was in the form of his character, Diablo!
One of the similarities of the anime is the fact Diablo is demon lord and overpowered as well. He knows his abilities and always plays on his terms when it comes to fighting. However, How Not to Summon a Demon Lord is more of an Isekai, and Diablo compared to Anos can lose his cool vibes sometimes especially when he’s with the girls.
But there’s one thing that this anime has that The misfit of the demon academy doesn’t have. You have to check the anime out, in order to know! But I know you guys, you already know I mean. *Winks*

This anime is similar to The misfit of the demon king academy in a way that the main character is overpowered and just makes everyone around him bewildered by his magic! He may not be a Demon nor Lord, but he is a powerful magician that can defeat demons without breaking a sweat!
Wiseman’s Grandchild follows the story of Shin Wolford, an orphan who was adopted by a hero in the Earlshide Kingdom. Shin would grow up to be skilled in magic and combat, however the young boy was secluded from the outside world that misses out on common sense and being fitting into the society. Which is why we were enrolled in the magic academy of the kingdom.
Just like the The misfit Demon king Academy, the students around him are weak in terms of magic, and that he alone possesses superior abilities beyond what people around him can do! That is why Wiseman’s Grandchild deserves to be one the list!

Restarting life once again as an overpowered individual! I think it has that vibe, I know this anime is way too far and way darker than The Misfit of demon Academy but they both share that starting life once again. The polar opposite of the story is that Keyaru went back in time, while Anos woke up in the future.
If Revenge is your type, then the anime is for you. This is just a wholesome story about a boy who became a hero, thought it was heaven but turns out it was hell. He had an overpowered ability but kept it as a secret until the time he could bounce back and redo the world for the sake of his elaborate revenge!
I would say Keyaru may be a human, but he is more demonic and scary than Anos who is the demon king himself.
Yes, I recommended it because of its similarities and not because I wanted to meme you guys! Why would I do that? *Giggles*

This anime is really hitting the marks when it comes to the similarities of Misfit of the Demon Academy! The anime is about the story of the demon lord Satan who is feared by humans as he conquered their land in order to fulfill his goal of taking over the content.
However, he was stopped by the Hero Emilia, thus they had to escape along with his loyal general. They fall to Tokyo, trapped and struggling to make a living thus, giving birth to the story of Satan being a Part Timer in a fast-food restaurant!
Btw, there’son going Season 2, loyal viewers patiently waited for so long. So what are you waiting for? Catch up in this amazing anime already!

The anime is an isekai about a player who got stuck in the game that he was playing. Thus, he ordered his NPC servants to find answers.
Momonga or mostly known as Ains, is force to be reckoned with. Similar to Ains they are both enigmatic to the people around them, however they strike fear into people who truly know what they are capable of!

Imagine being a skilled assassin, someone who is already strong is reincarnated as an assassin with magic. How fair is that? This is the reason why I think the anime is similar to Anos, they are already overpowered granted to start another life.
He is known as the world’s greatest assassin; in his last mission he was betrayed by the organization he worked with. However, he woke up and met a goddess who gave him a chance of a new life, for one simple task; and that is to prevent the destruction of the world by killing their hero!
I highly recommend this show, it’s amazing to watch. Anos may be stronger! But this dude can exhibit smooth assassination skills!

This anime has the same vibe with The Misfit of demon king academy in a way that the MC restarted his life, however the big difference is that Anos sacrificed himself for the world and was reincarnated. This guy just wanted to collect crests for his own sake. Nevertheless, the same overpowered main character goes to school to amaze people, as well as people who know him from the past recognize them.
The strongest Sage of Disqualified Crest follows the story of Gaius who has already reached the limit in terms of magic, which made him known as the world strongest mage. However, he is still unsatisfied with his capabilities, thus desiring the crest mark for close combat.
But there is a known fact that its crests are unchangeable, thus Gaius decided to reincarnate in the future in order to achieve his goal. Gaius was reborn as Mathias after a thousand years. He was able to obtain the cress that he desired, however he also discovered that magic has weakened compared to before.
This is safe to say that the anime has a lot of similarities with The Misfit of demon king academy, the magic has already weakened after thousand of years, making overpowered characters like him become even deadlier. Mathias and Anos shared this similar look, and vibe. Both are black haired and immensely strong characters to begin with.
Therefore, if you like the aspect reborn after a thousand years, with the same elements as Misfit of the demon academy, then this anime is for you!

The title alone basically tells what The Misfits of the demon king academy is. Even though it isn’t ranked, I had to put these one the number one spots because of how similar it is. But similar to The Strongest Sage of Disqualified Crest he too purposely reborn for their own sake. Which Anos above them in terms of morals.
The Greatest Demon Lord Is Reborn as a Typical Nobody follows the story of a powerful being that people suddenly feared and thus dubbing him as the demon lord. Which results in him feeling isolated from fellow humans. Having the desire to have a friend, this dude just decided to be reborn after thousands of years.
The greatest demon lord was reborn as Ard Meteor. Despite the term “Typical nobody” or weakening himself, he is still overpowered due to the fact the people around are weaker. Ard also struggles to make friends because of his lack of experience in social skills.
Although he isn’t technically a demon lord, at least he gained the title of it. There are also similarities in terms of the change of power as years pass by which kinda doubles the overpowered factor of our main characters. But yeah, I would say this one is the closest when it comes to The Misfit of the demon king academy.
And if you are interested, then you better start watching!
Conclusion
There you have it folks! These anime can be considered as The Misfit of the Demon King academy lookalike. I would say close, but not accurate enough. Anos Voldigoad is irreplaceable afterall. His valiant sacrifice which leads to peace between demons and humans are commendable, his confidence and superiority are justified and most importantly I would defo laugh at his millennia jokes!
Therefore, it’s time to watch these shows, before you violate the three second rule!
