Death Note is one of those anime out there that every weeb knows about and has watched. The sheer popularity of the show has got it to mainstream media; even the most normie viewers out there know about the show and praise it. Many anime fans watch Death Note as their first anime; it is the unofficial gateway anime!

The show follows the constant psychological battle between Light and the mysterious detective L as they try to outsmart each other in every episode!
37. one-punch man
One Punch Man was an instant classic; the show can be summed up in three words, One Punch Man!. We’ve seen shounen characters battle each other in the hopes of getting more robust, but what if the protagonist is so strong that he literally never loses?
It turns out, life becomes really boring, and that is pretty evident when you see the look on Saitama’s face. The show shares many similarities with Jujutsu Kaisen. Both shows have high octane action, and the fight scenes in both these anime are gorgeously animated! And most importantly, both shows have a goofy protagonist who is somewhat stupid. Itadori is focused on a goal and is fighting for it, unlike Saitama, who is just trying to fight someone who can challenge him for real. If you loved Jujutsu Kaisen, you’d go nuts on watching One Punch man. It has a lot of funny moments and wacky characters that’ll keep you engaged in the show!
36. no game, no life
After defeating God himself in a chess match, siblings Sora and Shiro are sent to a world where they have to play a game to settle every dispute that ever arises. Before beating God, the siblings were the most feared Pro-Gamers in the world, no one wanted to compete with them.
Like Jujutsu Kaisen, you’ll see a lot of weird supernatural elements in this anime. But unlike Jujutsu Kaisen, here the stakes are way too high; every problem of humanity is solved by games. Gaming is everything; gaming is life and hence the show’s name. If you’re a gamer, then this is a must-watch anime!

Amano never thought he’d end up in a situation like this where he’ll have to fight for his life. This is similar to how Itadori got caught up in fighting curses. Though Amano is prepared for this, he’s also terrified; one wrong move and his life would be over. In a weird turn of events, he teams up with his stalker, who has promised to help him, but her real intentions are terrifying, to say the least. 34. the seven deadly sins
If you crave great world-building, funny characters, and action-packed, high-octane fight scenes, you won’t be disappointed after watching the Seven Deadly Sins. In the world of Soul Eater, the god of death, a Shinigami, runs a school known as Death Academy, wherein he teaches the students to fight against the world’s evils. These students are trained to become Death Scythes which the Shinigami can then use to fight their enemies.
The premise may sound a bit odd, but the show truly is a masterpiece. It has a great story and funny characters, just like our beloved Jujutsu Kaisen. The animation of Soul Eater is top-notch as it comes from Bones studios!
32. your lie in april
Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso or Your Lie in April is a one-of-a-kind anime where battles aren’t fought with weapons or fists. Instead, the battle is waged with the melodic tones and symphonies various musical instruments produce. Arima, our main character, loses his role model, his mother, due to which he becomes really depressed. This is similar to Itadori losing the only person in his life that he loved, his grandfather.
Arima was a great pianist before the passing of his mother, but after her death, his life becomes colorless. But all of this changed when a beautiful young violinist came into his life and taught him how to live again. Arima quickly recovered in the presence of a like-minded friend. The anime has a great background score and is also the recipient of the Sugoi Japan Awards, Anime Division in 2016. The show does a great job of depicting the struggles one faces when a loved one dies.

31. akame ga kill
Akame Ga Kill is one anime that gets you instantly hooked and forces you to keep watching until the last episode. The plot follows the story of the revolutionary army, which is trying to overthrow the current regime that is ruling their land.
The regime is oppressive and corrupt, due to which many more underprivileged sections of society are suffering. When our main character, Tatsumi, realizes this, he joins the assassination wing of the revolutionary army to aid them in this noble cause.
The show shares many similarities with Jujutsu Kaisen, as both the protagonists are novices trying to become better fighters. Tatsumi came from a rural village suffering from various problems; he was won over by the ideals of the Revolutionary Army and hence since then, has been working hard!
30. fairy tail
In the magical land of Fiore resides our protagonist. With his group of friends, he roams the vast lands, doing odd jobs and looking for the next one. Like Jujutsu Kaisen, Fairy Tail also has many fantastic fight scenes and a great cast of characters that keep the show from becoming bland.
Fairy Tail is one of the best shounen anime in the last decade and has a massive fan following. It is considered as a top 10 anime on multiple anime lists. If you liked Jujutsu Kaisen, you’re gonna love Fairy Tail. It has over 170 episodes, so you have many episodes to satisfy your hunger for great shounen!
29. deadman wonderland
Just like Itadori who gets stuck after eating the finger of Sukuna, the main character in Deadman Wonderland finds himself in a somewhat similar situation. But unlike Itadori, our protagonist in this anime had no intention of fighting or even saving anyone.
When Ganta visits a prison amusement park with his schoolmates, the worst thing happens, and all of his classmates are killed by a mysterious being. Ganta is blamed for the massacre and now is living in the same prison he came to visit. In prison, he has to learn to fight and struggle to survive while finding the culprit behind the massacre.

28. Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji
Jujutsu Kaisen has curses and foul creatures on the show; the same can be said for Kuroshitsuji or Black Butler. The anime is set in Victorian England and follows the story of a boy and his butler as they set out to uncover the various mysteries and crimes that plague the cities of England.
The butler, in particular, has inhuman abilities which help the duo in various situations. These abilities came at a cost though, the butler had made a pact with the devil. The anime has a dense plot, and many exciting plot twists await you, so make sure you watch this one!
27. gintama
Jujutsu Kaisen is known for its characters, especially the goofy ones; Gintama could say the same. The anime follows a bunch of misfits doing odd jobs across Feudal Japan. The show’s premise is somewhat similar to Jujutsu Kaisen because both are shounen anime at the end. Still, Gintama also has its own set of qualities that make it a great show.
On the surface, the premise seems pretty whack. Aliens are taking over Feudal Japan and banning swords, making samurais jobless. It is a lot to take in, but the execution is excellent, and you’ll definitely have a good time watching it. Especially the chemistry between the characters, s what keeps the show going!
26. Highschool of the dead
A zombie apocalypse is what every gamer dreams of, but fighting the undead might look cool in movies. Still, it certainly would be horrifying to face such creatures in real life. And we get to see this horror on the faces of the high school kids who get trapped in a zombie-infested world!
Our main characters have to find a way to cure this, but how would many high school students be able to stop the march of the undead? Along the way, they lose many dear ones and are even forced to kill their allies, but this only makes them stronger. The show boasts excellent animation and characters which are actually relatable, unlike either zombie shows or movies where the characters somehow are already great at fighting!
25. Dragon Ball z
Do I even have to tell you why you should Dragon Ball Z? It is the father of all shounen anime out there. Every shounen copies the core concepts and ideas of Dragon Ball Z, so it’s no surprise the show is great!
The anime follows the story of a pretty gullible protagonist known as Goku, who turns out to be an alien. Goku saves earth many times from the external forces which threaten to wipe out or take over the planet. The show is an excellent mix of badass shounen fights and heartfelt, funny, wholesome moments. It is an entire package and should be watched by every anime fan at least once in their life just because of the influence it has had over the anime industry!

24. Samurai Champloo
Samurai Champloo is a weird mix of music and sword fights that has become one of the best anime ever created. The show was directed by the same person responsible for Cowboy Beebop and you’ll see many similarities between the two shows.
Samurai Champloo has a lot of badass fight scenes and action, just like Jujutsu Kaisen. The show manages to capture the audience’s attention right from the get-go, making the anime an engaging watch. Whenever the story starts to take turns for the worst, the main character’s personality is enough to keep the show afloat!
23. Trigun
Vash, the human typhoon, has a $60,000,000,000 bounty on his head; reason? He flattens entire cities if he feels like doing it and kills anyone with whom he disagrees. He’s always followed by two excellent companions. In that case, he roams the vast lands with insurance agents who try to minimize Vash’s impact on the general populace of the planet Gunsmoke!
But these are only sayings about him; in reality, he’s a softie and claims to have never caused violence or killed anyone. Like Itadori, Vash has a buffoonish personality and, for some reason, has a donut obsession. All seems friendly and jolly for Vash and his two sidekicks until a group of assassins started hunting the trio. The show is an excellent sci-fi comedy which at times gets really fast-paced and delivers impressive fight scenes. It is a complete anime experience, and you should give it a watch at least once!
