Made in Abyss is the type of adventure-sci-fi anime that teaches us a lot about life. One of the lessons from this anime is to dare to live, to not allow our anxieties to rule us, and to make an effort to move on in spite of the difficulties and uncertainties that lie ahead. It’s been a while since I’ve seen an anime that grabbed my attention as quickly as Made in Abyss did. It could appear to be a kids’ anime at first, but that’s actually not true. It’s far from being a kid’s show. It gets grim and dark pretty quickly. So today, we’ll be serving you guys with some of the most inspirational quotes from Made in Abyss. Let’s get started!

RIKO QUOTES

“I want to become a White Whistle whistle soon so I can catch up to my mother… and explore the places she went”

The White Whistle is a distinguishing item of the chosen few Delvers who are permitted to progress past the fifth layer of the abyss. Now, Riko’s mother went inside the abyss to explore it, but she never came back. Riko wants to become the owner of the White Whistle as soon as possible because then she’ll be able to explore all the places her mother explored while she was in the Abyss.

REG QUOTES

1. “Riko… I’m going with you… To the bottom of the Abyss”

Reg doesn’t remember much from his past. However, after meeting Riko, he vowed to protect her from all troubles and dangerous situations. He’s ready to explore the depths of the Abyss with Riko.

2. “Nanachi, promise me this… Even if Mitty isn’t around anymore, don’t take your own life”

Mitty used to be an ordinary human girl before her ascension from the 6th layer. She was an optimistic and upbeat girl who insisted Nanachi become friends with her. Both of them cared deeply about each other. Reg knows about their history and, knowing how close they are, he tells Nanachi to keep surviving even after Mitty is no longer with them. 

NANACHI QUOTES

“I’m Nanachi. I’m what you delvers would call Narehate”

Narehate are those individuals from Made in Abyss who have survived the curse of ascending the 6th layer of the abyss. However, their bodies have been deformed as a result. Nanachi is the only one who retained a sound mind after becoming a Narehate, unlike others. She says this while introducing herself to our delvers.

OZEN QUOTES

1. “Deep within it, the Abyss creeps into your mind. Eventually, it’ll get your body as well. Unlike the curse from the 6th Layer, those don’t manifest immediately. For every expedition, you’ll stand at the precipice of death and insanity, twisting the skin off your head.”

Ozen is an exceptional White Whistle Delver who had explored the deepest parts of the Abyss and was able to get many precious artifacts. She warns Lyza about the dangers of exploring the abyss. 

2. “Do you have a conception of God? The people around here, you see, don’t believe in God. Do you know what they believe in? The answer is this place – the Abyss itself.”

Ozen has devoted himself to the Abyss and just like other people living inside the Abyss, he believes that Abyss is the one that people believe in more than they believe in god.

3. “Don’t stay in the deep layers if you don’t want to kill those who are waiting for you.” 

Ozen always warns other delvers not to go deeper into the Abyss as it would eventually make those in danger who are waiting for them.
