He was given the title of Shield Hero since he obtained a Shield as one of the heroes to protect their world.
If we talk about his personality, he went through great character development as the story proceeded. At first, he was confused when he saw this world which is totally normal. He was a coward. But as time passed, he became much more confident. He was initially a positive person who had great hopes.
When he went to that world, he was blamed for most of the absurd things which made him hateful and spiteful of the whole world ← that’s where the character development hits. Anyways, he was first greatly disappointed but then he turned his back on the world.
A wise person once said, “When the world turns its back on you, you turn your back on the world”. So, I’d say that he went through the same thing and decided to become overpowered eventually. When it comes to his appearance, he’s quite handsome.
He has jet-black hair that looks messy but at the same time neat. He has green eyes and the green clothes (the hero-ish gown) makes him look really attractive. Many people fell for him in the anime too. He wanted to protect everyone from dangers until the blaming started. However, that did not stop him from protecting and caring for his loved ones.
Raphtalia
Next, we have Raphtalia. Raphtalia is also one of the main characters in the anime. She was bought by Naofumi Iwatani when he was helpless and didn’t know how to survive in that world. That’s when he came across Raphtalia who is a half-human and half-raccoon. She’s really cute, kind, and friendly. We get to see Naofumi and her bond grow as the story proceeds.
She has raccoon ears which makes her stand out from the rest of the characters. Her cute side is really unstoppable. I mean she doesn’t really try to look cute, she’s unintentionally cute. At first, when she encountered Naofumi, she was quite shy. Due to certain circumstances of the past, she has abandonment issues.
So, when Naofumi brought her, he made sure she was taken care of and he protected her as well. Therefore, she slowly started trusting Naofumi and decided to accompany him on this journey. Melty Q Melromarc
Melty Q Melromarc is one of the main characters in the anime. She’s one of the Crown Princesses. Although she’s an adult yet she looks just like a small child. Her hair is tied in two pigtails and she likes to wear frill dresses that show she’s one of the royals.
When you first meet her, you’ll be like “Aww, she’s a cute princess”. Melty is known to be attracted to Filo. Melty is the youngest sister and seeing her elder sister being spoiled, she was taken under Mirellia’s wing. As compared to other princesses, she’s quite nice towards the commoners and treats them just fine.
Filo
Filo is a Filolial and she was bought by Naofumi as well. But she was an egg before. Yes! She’s a half bird and a human. Doesn’t the concept of being half animal and half human intrigue you? It does intrigue me. Well, this is all in the magic world so we don’t need to be weirded out. Filo is also one of the main characters who joined Naofumi on his journey to protect this world. She’s quite kind and protects her nakamas. Filo is highly affectionate, she loves to express her love for the team and she loves to be taken care of. As Naofumi is very caring, he protected and took care of Filo when she was inside the egg. So, she has a special place for him in her heart. Isn’t that sweet?
Filo has many forms but during her early stages of growth, she was a small pink chick, slowly she grew up and took her human form.
Malty S Melromarc
Malty is known to be one of the main antagonists in the anime. Malty got disowned after she betrayed the three heroes. Thus, she became a well-known criminal. When you first meet her, she will present herself as a kind girl who means no harm but behind that mask, is a living psychopath. Doesn’t that intimidate you? Malty has a bad habit of lying and she’s a hypocrite as well. Those who have watched The Rising of the Shield Hero must know her a bit too well.
Rishia Ivyred
Rishia Ivyred is known as one of the Seven Star Heroes. She’s mostly seen accompanying the Bow Hero. She used to be a slave of the Shield Hero and she’s known to come from a fallen noble family. Rishia has long green hair along with green eyes. She looks really innocent and sure is. She’s quite shy and she would go out of her way to help others.
Ost Horai
Ost Horai is known to be one of the newest characters in the anime. Ost Horai was manifested by the Tortoise Spirit in a human form. She’s very kind and loyal to her dear ones. She’d do anything to protect her loved ones, even if it includes sacrificing her own life. Her chinese eyes make her look really charming overall, she’s a gorgeous individual. Ost Horai wishes that she could be human from the start so that she could’ve spent a lot more time with Naofumi.
