Let’s talk a little about Kakegurui beforehand. I know there are some of you who haven’t watched this anime and just want to get “Yumeko Jabami” to look cool (not an attack tho). Anyways, the plot of Kakegurui revolves around our overpowered Yumeko Jabami who’s not only good at gambling but is also pretty good at studying. She’s intellectual thus she wins many battles. There’s one thing about this girl which makes her stand out from the rest of the characters. Guess what it could be? Beauty? Well, nah other characters are beautiful as well.
What makes Yumeko stand out is that whenever she loses a battle or two, she comes back stronger after exposing her opponents’ technique or even cheating tactics. So, that’s a good thing. However, that doesn’t change the fact that she loses a huge amount of money whenever she loses a gambling match.
Coming back to the plot, Yumeko Jabami joins an elite academy where the students are taught gambling and they are ranked based on their skills. If you lose a gambling match, you get in debt. If you win, you can make the opponent your servant. Yes, that’s how things work at their academy. Yumeko Jabami gets involved in various gambling activities in this academy and teaches people lessons! If the plot intrigues you, you should definitely watch Kakegurui!

Yumeko Jabami is our main character. She’s the perfect example of “beauty with brains”. She’s a popular transfer student at Hyakkaou Private Academy. It turns out the girl she battled in gambling aka Kirai Momobami, her family and Yumeko’s family are aligned. Yumeko is tall, lean, and a gorgeous girl with jet black hair. She has a hime–cut as well! Who doesn’t love a girl with a hime-cut?
Her glossy lips make her look really kawaii! We usually see her wearing the standard Hyakka Academy’s uniform. It consists of a red blazer and black tie with white shirt underneath. It also has a grey-black patterned skirt. The stockings give her a mysterious vibe. Yumeko sometimes turns into a completely different person when she’s gambling and she’s winning it.
When it comes to her personality, she’s very upbeat and charismatic. When you first meet her, she will be friendly. When you gamble with her, you will discover a lot more about her. Everyone is attracted to her, one cannot simply ignore Yumeko Jabami. Yes, her beauty plays an important role in this but her personality also leaves a great impact on people. If someone is cheating during a match and she finds out, she wouldn’t let the other person know that she knows they are cheating, she simply puts a smile on her face. Isn’t that so badass? Well, if you got Yumeko Jabami, congratulations! You’re upbeat and badass! Literally perfect!
Kirai Momobami
Kirai Momobami is also one of the students at this elite academy. She’s the competitor of Yumeko Jabami. Both of their families are aligned somehow. Kirai is also known to be the head of the Hundred Devouring Families. She’s quite smart as well and her family holds much power as well.
You know, every character in this anime is extraordinary and there’s just something about them which makes these characters different from other anime characters. What I’m trying to say is that every character has their own certain charm. Similarly, Kirai Momobami is quite an attractive student too! She also tends to catch the attention of many people, not only through her blue lipstick but her manners.
She has an average height, and a grey hair tied in pigtails with a knotted ribbons. She’s mostly wearing the standard uniform of Hyakkaou Private Academy as well. Even though from outside, Kirai looks composed and refined yet there’s a side to her that we don’t know about. It is nothing more than her psychopathic side. She’s quite manipulative when it comes to gambling. She’s literally smart enough to defeat you in gambling by brainwashing you. Kirai might appear narcissistic too.
Did you know that the “Pet System” was introduced by Kirai? OMG! I just got goosebumps! If you have no idea what a pet system is, oof! You really do need to watch Kakegurui. But let me give you a hint, the loser becomes the pet of the winner. So, that’s what the pet system is about.
Mary Saotome
Mary Saotome is also one of the main characters of Kakegurui. She’s the classmate of our beauty, Yumeko Jabami. She’s got an average height and a blonde hair tied in two side ponytails. Just like any other Hyakkaou student, she wears their standard uniform. Mary might look calm and stable on the outside but she has a sadistic side to her too. In fact, she hides it well when she meets someone for the very first time.
When she wins a gambling match, she turns the loser into her pet and then you get to see her sadistic side at its extreme level. Doesn’t that sound scary? Imagine the things this girl will make you do when you lose to her!
But the good thing is that Yumeko Jabami stepped in and Mary lost to her. Therefore, Mary’s previous pet aka Ryota Suzui got free from this sadistic girl. Mary Saotome shall know the pain of being a pet now. After experiencing all that, she went through character development. She became nice and a better human than she was before. HAH! She got the taste of being broke.
Ryota Suzui
One of the dull characters, Ryota Suzui, also goes to Hyakkaou Private Academy. (I’m sorry Ryota Suzui fans) It is what it is. Anyways, he proved to be of great worth when Yumeko Jabami joined the academy. He used to be Mary’s pet but ever since Yumeko came, she freed him from that sadistic girl. Ryota is also the friend of Yumeko, so let’s not forget the times he supported her from her back.
He’s an easy going individual who’s kind to everyone. He often gets used by everyone without him knowing which sometimes breaks my heart. He should become strong! Overall, he seems like the “most human” as compared to other characters. So, if you got Ryota Suzui, you’re the most normal student!
Midari Ikishima
Midari Ikishima is also one of the main characters in Kakegurui. She’s one of the spoiled elite students who gamble to the extreme levels. She’s holding a gun mostly like a pure badass girl. She wears an eyepatch as well. She’s masochistic and everyone is scared of her. She’s also quite suicidal and seemed to have stabbed her own eye. OOF! what could be more intense than that? She’s quite impulsive and makes decisions all of a sudden without giving any second thoughts.
She’s a pale-skinned girl with short hair wearing the standard academy uniform. Midari carries a gun with her all the time. I wonder if their school isn’t against this! I mean, they let the students do gambling… How could they stop their students from bringing a gun? LMAO!
