1. Akame
Akame is one of the main characters of the series. She appears to be a very cold and quiet girl. Her coldness comes from the hard training that she had to go through because of the Empire. She has trouble communicating with others and often suppresses her feelings. However, when it comes to her friends, she’s very caring. She may not show it but she loves her friends a lot.
No matter how sad and devastated she is, she never shows her true emotions. When it comes to her enemies, she’s absolutely ruthless. She kills them in the most brutal way. She shows no mercy to them.
Akame is the only one from the group who has a big appetite. Overall, Akame is a badass who has a soft spot in her heart just for her friends and no one else.
2. Tatsumi
Tatsumi is the main protagonist of the series. He’s a very kind and friendly guy who gets along well with others. He doesn’t like killing people and wants to resolve matters by talking. He was also kind with his enemies but later, he learned that there are some enemies that deserve no mercy.
As he loses his comrades one by one, Tatsumi becomes darker and more serious with each loss. However, he retained some of his previous calm and friendly personality throughout the series.
Tatsumi was awkward while showing affection to his friends. But slowly, he learned to show how much he cares and loves his friends. He’s also quite level-headed when it comes to their raids. He’s always there to help his comrades whenever they need it. Even though he was not very strong initially, he still never hesitated in jumping right into the battle.
3. Bulat
Bulat is a member of the Night Raid assassin group. Though he looks intimidating, his personality fully differs from the way he looks. He’s very kind, caring, and calm. He does appear to be very passionate but he has never once lost control while fighting his enemies.
He was the only one amongst the group who openly showed affection to his comrades. He also taught Tatsumi to show some love to his comrades and also accept his emotions. Bulat also used to tease Tatsumi a lot on different occasions. Overall, Bulat is the most compassionate and empathetic person out of all of the Night Raid members.
4. Leone
Leone is one of the members of the Night Raid assassin group. She’s cheerful, laid back, and fun to be around. She also doesn’t know how to act like a lady and acts recklessly most of the time. She has an affinity towards drinking alcohol and can’t really hold it well. As she’s one of the oldest members of the group, the other group members see her as an older sister. She absolutely despises corrupt people and shows no mercy to them. She also gets very excited while fighting her opponents. Like other members of the group, she also has great care for her comrades.
5. Chelsea
Chelsea became one of the members of Night Raid later in the series. She loves teasing others and acts in a careless manner. However, when it comes to actual fighting, she’s very calculated and quite ruthless. She can also be very blunt sometimes.
Chelsea got along well with her new group. She cared a lot for them and was constantly afraid of losing them just like she lost her old team. She helped them a lot during their quests.
6. Sheele
Sheele is one of the members of Night Raid. She was very quiet, calm, and composed. She was also a little airheaded. Sheele had trouble doing anything if she was not wearing her glasses. When in battle, she becomes completely different. Her way of killing was absolutely ruthless. After killing her opponents, she used to apologize to them. She cared deeply for her companions, especially Mine. She even sacrificed herself in order to protect Mine. She strongly believed in eliminating corrupt people and served her duty well until she was taken out.
7. Mine
Mine is one of Night Raid’s members. You can call her your typical Tsundere. She has anger issues and tends to get irritated easily. She’s also very aggressive. Mine used to tease Tatsumi a lot, telling him that he won’t be able to survive in the team for long. However, she started falling for Tatsumi as the series progressed and vice versa.
Despite appearing to be cold, Mine loved and cared for her companions. She rarely showed it but was always available for them. She was also shown to be jealous whenever Leone tried to get close to Tatsumi. Overall, Mine is just a sweetheart with some anger issues.
8. Lubbock
Lubbock is one of the members of the Night Raid assassin group. He was one of the most chill members of the group after Bulat. He also had a mischievous personality and was also seen peeping on Leone when she was bathing. Females were his weakness but he never let his weakness come in his way while he was fighting his opponents even if they were females. He showed mercy to no one.
Lubbock was also very playful. He was always optimistic about everything no matter how grim the situation was. He was a loyal member of Night Raid. He was tortured in order to betray his group but he never gave in.
9. Susanoo
Susanoo joined Night Raid later in the series. Susanoo appeared to be very cold and quiet. He was a perfectionist and wanted to do everything flawlessly. He was the only one who used to point out flaws in others. It appeared as if he had OCD that made him fix things that looked imperfect. He had trouble getting along with the Night Raid members at first but later, he became quite friendly with them. Other than that, Susanoo can be quite blunt about things that he doesn’t like.
10. Najenda
Najenda is the leader of the Night Raid assassin group. She is very calm and collected yet level-headed. She has natural leadership skills and leads the group really well. Though she’s a woman, Najenda appears to be more of a boy because of her outfit and hair. When it comes to strategies, Najenda is very sharp-minded and leads the group in the right directions. The group is also very fond of her. Also, she makes very bad puns!
11. Esdeath
Esdeath is quite popular amongst the masses and we definitely know why. She’s a true sadist and loves to inflict pain on others. She’s absolutely ruthless in her dealings with others. We got to see her soft side after she met Tatsumi. However, she got extremely obsessed with him.
Esdeath was absolutely blood thirsty. She used to get excited while fighting her enemies. She was also very overpowered, making her one of the strongest characters of the anime. She also loved dominating people around her.
12. Kurome
Kurome is the younger sister of Akame. She’s seen to be just like her sister, talking, and showing her emotions rarely. She’s quite ruthless while killing her enemies, even more than Akame. She hates being branded weak so she works hard to be stronger than anyone. Kurome is also a little emotionally unstable because of her tragic past. But she’s not a corrupt person at heart. She did become a little evil because of the brainwashing of the Empire.
