Are you also that person who really loves to collect Pokemon cards? Personally, I grew up collecting Pokemon cards as if they were pokeballs. The feeling of having the most unique and valuable card feels like catching Arceus with a pokeball. Well, it’s kinda impossible though, but it has exactly the same feeling as having valuable Pokemon cards. Maybe, even while you were collecting them you were even wondering which Pokemon type were just like you?
Table of Contents
But before anything else, Battle Styles is actually the name of the 5th expansion of the Pokemon Trading Card Game series, Sword and Shield.
Given that the market price of Pokemon cards varies economically, making this list is quite challenging. But since I love y’all, here’s the list of the 15 Most Valuable Pokemon Battle Style Cards.
VALUABLE POKEMON BATTLE STYLE CARDS THAT YOU SHOULD NEVER MISS
12. Cheryl (Secret) – $12.20
- Card Number: 173/163
- Rarity: Secret Rare
- Card Type: Supporter
- Card Text: Heal all damage from each of your Evolution Pokemon. If you do, discard all Energy from the Pokemon that were healed in this way.
Some of you might have watched Cheryl in generation 4 and 8. Although some of you might find her quite notable, I still think $12.20 really is a great price. She may not seem like a prominent character, but when Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl was released in November of 2021, fans were able to reacquaint themselves with the trainer who exudes an otherworldly vibe.
The current value of the full art version of this card is somewhere around $10, and it depends on who and where you ask, the card either has the ideal amount of negative space or has too much of it. Whatever the case may be, it’s wonderful to see a character who players will get to know better in games to receive some spotlight time in the most recent Pokemon expansion set.
11. Corviknight VMAX (Secret) – $12.36
- Card Number: 171/163
- Rarity: Ultra Rare
- Card Type: Metal
- HP: 320
- Stage: Basic
- Card Text: Ability — Lustrous Body
- Attack 1: G-Max Hurricane-240 [2 Metal – 1 Hurricane]
- Weakness: Fire x2
- Resistance: Grass -20
- Retreat Cost: 2
Corviknight may appear like a metal raven to some. But to inform you, he is more than a bird that has intellect and flying skills. He can cover hisits body with metal to protect himself, not in a defensive way but also to attack. Well, grass deals less damage against this raven.
The G-Max Hurricane really is something of a big deal here. Imagine how a 240 damage could even instantly kill even some legendary pokemon cards. Some people find the full art version of Corviknight quite lame, but I have to tell you that your $12 here really is a big deal for this card. There are a lot of Pokemon Games but this card is one of a kind even in other platforms.
10. Rapid Strike Urshifu V (Alternate Full Art) – $14.21
- Card Number: 153/163
- Rarity: Ultra Rare
- Card Type: Fighting
- HP: 220
- Stage: Basic
- Attack 1: Strafe-30 [1 Fighting]
- Attack 2: Hundred Furious Blows-150 [2 Fighting – 1 colorless]
- Weakness: Psychic x2
- Resistance: None
- Retreat Cost: 2
Have you seen Urshifu in a cool pose? I mean, there are times that he moves so cool in the anime, but to really have a card like this, it’s kinda cute and cool at the same time. But what makes this card so good is its strafe and a hundred furious blows, which give him that one-hit ability. So he can just continue being called the “K.O. Pokemon.”
When talking about legendary Pokemon, we could not miss this Pokemon. It should not come as a surprise that the majority of the Battle Styles’ cards depicting it are among the most expensive ones in the game. This specific card represents the Rapid Strike variant of this Pokemon, which has an emphasis on moves that belong to the Fighting type.
The card’s entire art presentation is outstanding and does a great job of illustrating why fans of the game find Urshifu’s look so attractive. The card can be found in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. The current market rate for this alternative full-art edition of Battle Styles Urshifu V’s card is around $15 on average.
9. Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX (Secret) – $16.45
- Card Number: 169/163
- Rarity: Secret Rare
- Card Type: Fighting
- HP: 220
- Stage: Vmax
- Attack 1: Gale Thrust-30+ [1 Fighting]
- Attack 2: G-Max Rapid Flow [2 Fighting – 1 colorless]
- Weakness: Psychic x2
- Resistance: None
- Retreat Cost: 2
For those who don’t know, the difference between Secret and Alternate Full Art, other than the abilities, is the art. Well, it’s clear that alternate full art should cost a bit more than secret. But for Rapid Strike Urshifu Vmax, this one really is something that we should expect more from. I mean, the secret version does not only focus on art, but also the abilities and gameplay versatility of this card.
Many Pokemon fans and weebs believe that the design of Urshifu is one of the most interesting Pokemon designs to come out in recent years, particularly in terms of legendary Pokemon. The fact that trainers may decide whether the monster should evolve into a form with a Single Strike or a Rapid Strike also adds to the Pokemon’s overall degree of interest.
The rainbow sheen on this card, Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX comes with the secret rare edition, making the card’s price point of $26 well justified. This price is less than a third of what Urshifu’s most costly cards in all of Battle Styles would cost you to purchase.
8. Single Strike Urshifu V (Alternate Full Art) – $16.99
- Card Number: 151/163
- Rarity: Ultra Rare
- Card Type: Fighting
- HP: 220
- Stage: Basic
- Attack 1: Laser Focus [1 Fighting]
- Attack 2: Impact Blow-180 [2 Fighting – 1 colorless]
- Weakness: Psychic x2
- Resistance: None
- Retreat Cost: 2
This is the third Urshifu on this list. This makes sense, since he has been known to be somehow a legendary pokemon because of his ability to be both dark and water. He is powerful and is also known as the Pokemon version of Saitama, the One-Punch Man, making him gain the legendary title.
You can actually notice that this card is really the actual color of Urshifu in the anime Pokemon. Well, this case does not make it any less of a powerful card. Consider the 180 damage of impact blow with only two fighting and one colorless energy. This is roughly enough to eliminate an average-type opponent Pokemon with one hit.
Among the cards on this list, this one really has one of the most consistent prices. In the past few months. The price change for this card only ranges from $3 to $4. But this case does not actually make it less than its value.
7. Single Strike Urshifu VMAX (Secret) – $19.97
- Card Number: 167/163
- Rarity: Secret Rare
- Card Type: Fighting
- HP: 330
- Stage: Vmax
- Attack 1: Beatdown-100 [3 colorless]
- Attack 2: G-Max One Blow-270 [3 Fighting – 1 colorless]
- Weakness: Psychic x2
- Resistance: None
- Retreat Cost: 3
Urshifu has been one of the most recognized Pokemon in this list. However, each Urshifu card brought with it a unique set of fighting abilities, well, to really give emphasis on its fighting energy. Just a beatdown and g-max one blow is enough to really knock your opponents down.
The colors of this card really give us the vibe of a powerful Urshifu. This card is colored with the rainbow, which really gives emphasis to its strong appearance. Those people who really like to collect this card only need $20 at its market price on the 3rd of June 2022. Though its prices peaked at $27, there were times that it only cost over $11.
Some fans even argue that Rapid Strike Vmax Secret has better art than Single Strike Urshifu Vmax Secret, but this is not really something to stop the rise in cost of Single Strike Urshifu Vmax Secret. Personally, I think the price of this card really is reasonable in some ways that its art is being recognized.
6. Level Ball (Secret) – $25.99
- Card Number: 181/163
- Rarity: Secret Rare
- Card Type: Item
- Card Text: Search your deck for a Pokemon with 90 HP or less, reveal it, and put it into your hand. Then, shuffle your deck.
When playing Pokemon cards, it is really a big deal to not miss an item card. So far, one of the best and most popular Pokemon item cards is also a pokeball, the Ultra Ball. You can actually notice its similarities with the level ball. Other than they’re both Pokeballs, they are also colored yellow and gray.
The price of this peaked at $30. Given the fact that this is just an item card, reaching this market value really is a big deal. I mean, imagine spending $26 just to search your deck for a Pokemon with 90 HP or less. Well, if you are a strategic player, this card can provide you with the best gameplay.
Most people are buying this card not only because of its ability and card text, but also of the fact that this card really is something we should collect. The price of item cards is really unpredictable, so owning one can make you a millionaire. Maybe a hundred years later, at an auction.
5. Houndoom (Secret) – $31.89
- Card Number: 179/163
- Rarity: Secret Rare
- Card Type: Darkness
- HP: 130
- Stage: Stage 1
- Card Text: Single Strike Roar (Ability)
- Attack 1: Darkness Fang-50 [1 colorless – 1 dark]
- Weakness: Leaf x2
- Resistance: None
- Retreat Cost: 2
Fans really know that Houndoom is black. A cool Doberman that has both fire and darkness. Imagine Houndoom being your guard dog. I don’t know if those are antlers or horns, but those are really something to watch out for on this blue Houndoom.
It may seem strange that of all the Pokemon in Sword & Shield, Houndoom would be the one to receive a hidden rare card, but in all honesty, it shouldn’t make a difference. People like the dark as well as fire-type Pokemon of the Johto region, and the fact that Houndoom has a secret rare brought fantastic news for those who are particularly fond of this Pokemon.
It is unknown if they appreciate it well enough to pay over thirty dollars for the card, but it is encouraging to see that Pokemon will pay attention to all fandoms, kinds, and areas in every expansion set that they publish.
4. Empoleon V (Alternate Full Art) – $34.95
- Card Number: 146/163
- Rarity: Ultra Rare
- Card Type: Water
- HP: 210
- Stage: Basic
- Card Text: Ability — Emperor’s Eyes
- Attack 1: Swirling Slice-130 [3 colorless]
- Weakness: Lightning x2
- Resistance: None
- Retreat Cost: 2
People who don’t know might say that Empoleon is the next form of Eevee. Does it sound like umbreon, glaceon, sylveon, and leafeon? They rhyme but sadly, Empoleon is not the ninth evolution of Eevee. He is not even close to becoming a cat-like Pokemon…because he is a penguin. From Piplup to Prinplup to Empoleon, Satoshi Tajiri should take his time explaining this weird naming pattern.
Cards that contain artwork that not only prominently features the primary Pokemon but also subtly incorporates additional Pokemon into the composition almost always appear to maintain a strong value. It’s possible that the announcement that Battle Styles contains an alternative full-art version of Empoleon V won’t instantly pique your curiosity.
People who look at the $34.95 card more closely notice that it also depicts Falinks and Mienfoo practicing their martial arts methods with Empoleon. This is seen when the card is examined in more detail. It is one of the works of art that was shown on a whole art card that brought a nice feeling to the viewer.
3. Single Strike Urshifu VMAX (Alternate Art Secret) – $40.00
- Card Number: 168/163
- Rarity: Secret Rare
- Card Type: Fighting
- HP: 330
- Stage: VMax
- Attack 1: Beatdown-100 [3 colorless]
- Attack 2: G-Max One Blow-270 [3 Fighting – 1 colorless]
- Weakness: Psychic x2
- Resistance: None
- Retreat Cost: 2
Urshifu evolved from Kubfu. He is actually known to have, other than fighting energy, a secondary type of energy, dark and water. And I think you can clearly notice that single strike is more-likely fighting and dark types while rapid strike to fighting and water types.
People who are truly interested in adding this card to their own collection of trading cards should budget around $40 in order to get it. Those who do not have such a collection may consider starting one.
Although some fans would claim Single Strike of Urshifu does have a superior full art presentation, the fact that there’s a time that it costs approximately half as much as its Rapid Strike. Despite this, the card is nonetheless impressive due to the fact that it centers on the utilization of warm hues throughout.
2. Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX (Alternate Art Secret) – $56.59
- Card Number: 170/163
- Rarity: Secret Rare
- Card Type: Fighting
- HP: 230
- Stage: VMax
- Attack 1: Gale Thrust-30+ [1 Fighting]
- Attack 2: Max Rapid Flow [2 Fighting – 1 colorless]
- Weakness: Psychic x2
- Resistance: None
- Retreat Cost: 2
That one-hit K.O. Some of you might know Urshifu this way, but I tell you, this has more worth with its three different styles. But, owning this one-hit K.O. fighting-type Pokemon really feels like you’re Giratina, the god of death. I mean, psychic, its weakness, is not the darkness of the god of death…I think. So, the comparison is still good.
After the Single Strike Urshifu VMAX alternative art secret card, it is now time for the Rapid Strike Urshifu VMAX alternate art secret card. This card is now selling for $52, although its pricing equivalent in Single Strike is currently resting at $40. Well, I still really think this is worth it.
The fact that nobody ever knows what the rare Pokemon sets are until the collection is published and people start tearing packs makes them a fascinating collectible feature. They are often quite hard to come by, which contributes to the foundation of their extremely high value.
1. Tyranitar V (Alternate Full Art) – $80.00
- Card Number: 155/163
- Rarity: Ultra Rare
- Card Type: Darkness
- HP: 230
- Stage: Basic
- Attack 1: Cragalanche-60 [1 darkness – 2 colorless]
- Attack 2: Single Strike Crush-240 [2 darkness – 2 colorless]
- Weakness: Grass x2
- Resistance: None
- Retreat Cost: 3
Are you familiar with Pupitar? Well, this is not exactly about him but is about his rather next form, Tyranitar. Some of you might have seen Tyrannitar in its few exposures with the team rocket, blasting off into the sky at the speed of light all over again.
It is not only the Alternate Full Art being added to Tyranitar V that makes its worth grow a lot greater, but also the fact that this really has the best art in this trading game. It actually costs around $80 as of June 1, 2022. Well, its price is kinda in a bad mood. There are times when it is rising and there are also times when it is falling. Simply, inconsistent.
Unlike Team Rocket’s Tyranitar, this Tyranitar V is pictured taking a nap after eating its meal. The colors really give us more than the image we were used to seeing. This really is a good class of card.
Final Notes
This list is actually based on the market price of these cards as of June 3, 2022. You can actually see some of the most expensive and valuable Pokemon cards on the market. Each has some value depending on its rarity, history, abilities, and many more factors that are being considered. Also, if you haven’t watched the series, you can always use a Pokemon Watch Order to help you out.
So, I think that’s all for this list, guys! You can comment below with your thoughts and suggestions about the list you want us to make. Thank you guys! Sayonara!
