ZORO THE CONQUEROR OF THE THREE REALMS

First Realm: Earth

Earth

Let’s start digging out some details from the very first realm: Earth!

0470 001

Earth plays a crucial role in the One Piece world, particularly as seen in some story arcs and how it is valued by the winged races. (Manga Chapter 470 cover)

This will bring us back to Skypiea

0253 016

Remember Jaya? People on Sky Island considered it a Holy Land and called it “Varse.” (Manga Chapter 253)

1022 014

This also connects to the Lunarians. It was mentioned by Marco in Chapters 1022 that long ago, before Mary Geoise, there was a race of people who lived on top of the Red Line. (Manga Chapter 1022)

Currently, Mary Geoise is on top of the Red Wall and it is referred to as the “Holy Land.”

Celestial dragons

Do you think Mary Geoise is called the “Holy Land” because the Celestial Dragons aka “the Descendants of god,” lived there?

I don’t think so. Everyone knows that these guys are a bunch of scumbags who just straight-up take whatever they want. I have a feeling that Mary Geoise was called the Holy Land because the Lunarians considered the land sacred, just like the Skypieans did in Jaya.

By the way, did you know that there’s a theory suggesting that Luffy might be a Celestial Dragon?

If you’re noticing something, Zoro always encounters winged races and how they’re all connected to the “Earth.” Is this a sign from Oda?

Maybe that’s why he drops something in SBS 105! Let’s take a closer look!

Terra

As you can see Zoro’s mom was called Terra which means Earth.

And let me quickly slap you with some information that we got from Wikipedia

Tellus matter

In Roman Mythology Tellus Mater or Terra Mater means Mother Earth

This reminds me of a different theory: Zoro  “The Son of the Earth.” That got me thinking about the way Sanji called Zoro “Moss Head.”

Now that we know his origin, that nickname and the meaning of his mother’s name seem even more fitting for Zoro.

The theory also highlights that in Chapter 997, Kaido’s soldiers believed that his rage caused earthquakes. Additionally, I agree with Brook that it was Conqueror’s Haki. (Manga Chapter 997)

0997 012

However, some argue that it’s related to “The Breath of All Things.” Now, I’m a bit confused!

Now that you’ve heard about Conqueror’s Haki, it seems you’re wondering when Luffy learned Haki.

Second Realm: Heaven

Skypiea

While I’m waiting for your comments, let us toss ourselves back to Skypiea. This time we’ll enter The Second Realm: Heaven!

0238 014

Skypiea is definitely “Heaven” in One Piece, just take a look at that sign! (Manga Chapter 238)

So, the Strawhats entered “Heaven’s Gate.”

They managed to find new friends, fought some weird-looking dudes, and even kicked the butt of the so-called “GOD” Enel.

Speak of the devil… Do you think Enel is one of the strongest villains in One Piece?

After the crew liberated Skypiea, the inhabitants will surely remember the names of these pirates. This reminds me of Zoro’s promise to his childhood friend… Kuina.

Kuina

In Chapter 5 he promised that he will be the Greatest Swordsman and he will be so famous that even the Heavens will know his name! (Manga Chapter 5)

0005 015

And he carried that dream all the way to the country of Wano.

1033 017 1

Third Realm: Hell

1036 005

If we were to choose our deck of evidence across the Three Realms, it seems that the only card closest to Zoro is Hell.

He even mentions in Chapter 1036 that he will become the King of Hell OR should I say, the Demon King? (Manga Chapter 1036)

This is disturbingly fitting because of the demonic entity that seems to dwell within him.

Asura

Aside from Hell, Death has also a clingy relationship with our Marimo. It’s also funny to say that he might have a problem with his sense of direction, but he manages to find his way to escape death…

And how many times that he did?

Well, I remember the scene from Mihawk. (Episode 24)

Mihawk vs Zoro

The battle in Alabrasta with Daz. (Episode 119)

Zoro and Daz

And our all-time favorite moment was during Thriller Bark when Zoro absorbed Luffy’s pain and just  brushed it off with his iconic phrase, “Nothing happened.” (Episode 377)

That’s not all we’ve got! Check out our blog about Zoro’s most badass quotes!

Zoro nothing happened

Hmm, I’m not sure if that’s all the times Zoro has cheated death, but it seems like he had plenty of close calls.

And now, Death seems to be getting impatient and even shows up right in front of Zoro, ready to claim his soul! (Manga Chapter 1038)

1038 005

Is it a mere dream or a hallucination? Don’t tell me it’s a foreshadowing of Zoro’s death!

What if this encounter is the path that will lead Zoro to ascend the throne of Hell?

Nah! Nevermind! Just scratch that out! I have a feeling that he might get lost instead! Let’s just talk more about the theory of his attacks and how it’s closely related to Death and Hell.

Zoro’s Attacks

Purgatory Onigiri

ZORO ONIGIRI

may have been inspired by a blend of the Christian religion and Japanese mythology. Or should I say Japanese cuisine

Zoro and Rika

Onigiri is a rice ball that has a significant connection to Zoro dating back to his time in Shells Town. He was tied up for nine days, but a little girl named Rika smuggled him a sweet onigiri to eat. (Episode 2)

Dead Man’s Game

dead mans game

Might be inspired by the game of poker: the “Dead Man’s Hand.” aka the “Unlucky Hand” which was played by a gunslinger Wild Bill, who was shot and killed while holding the sets of cards.

But it seems that the unlucky card has no effect on Zoro, and he proves it on Loguetown when he tried out his luck when he tosses Sandai Kitetsu in the air.

Pound Phoenix

360 pound

Is a mythological bird that is also a sign of death and rebirth. (Manga Chapter 1032)

Now, Zoro might become the King of Hell because of Zoro’s new sword named after the Lord of the Underworld. Enma! You can also check out our blog about Zoro’s swords, ranked by power.

Conclusion

zoro enma

In theory, Zoro has a strong connection to the three realms- Earth, Heaven, and Hell. All three might represent his swordsmanship, personality, and ambition.

But, I’ve been thinking about why Zoro is always involved every time a new winged figure shows up and hits us hard with new information.

For instance, Zoro learned a lot of things during the Skypiea arc about the Skypieans and Shandians

Now, in Wano, he learned about the Lunarians. The theory suggests that he might learn about the Birkans next from Urogue.

Yet, here is the crazy part, guys. Why are all these Winged races related to the moon? What’s with the moon?! Even the Minks got their powers from the moon!

Oh, I almost forgot! Here’s the blog I was talking about, the one about a demon under Zoro’s left eye
