Before you all get ready to storm the comment section because of the title of this video, hear me out first! We all remember Ace! Luffy’s sworn brother, Pirate King’s Son, and certified donut? I saw it, we all saw it and Akainu did it, and most importantly, Blackbeard caused it!

But lately, I’ve been seeing and hearing about him a lot back in Wano… and in other arcs that got me really thinking, though it was made clear by Oda that he is not coming back… but is that really the case?

Will Ace be brought back to life?
The Fight for the One Piece
But one thing’s for sure. Blackbeard and Luffy will face off for the One Piece along with the title of Pirate King. They are the antithesis of each other, it’s just meant to happen!
The thing is, now that Luffy has unlocked Gear 5 and is now the next Sun God Nika, what would Blackbeard do to make sure he will be the victor? Like what he has done throughout the series, he would cheat and manipulate his way like a pirate! In what way? Well, this is where our theory for today sets in place. Albeit a usual trope, using one of his loved ones!
Who is Gecko Moria?
One of the keys to this theory is Gecko Moria, the current owner of the Kage Kage No Mi. Moria can steal shadows of different beings and place them into the living or dead, creating somehow a zombie. As demonstrated in Episode 343. You see where I am going?
Now, in episode 917 or (chapter 925) Moria was offered to join Blackbeard’s crew even if the man attempted to raid his island! It is still unconfirmed if he joins Blackbeard’s crew or not. But think about it, why would Blackbeard PERSONALLY invite someone to his crew- someone easily defeated by HIS CREW?
What will be Gecko Moria’s Use to Blackbeard?
Because Blackbeard knows he can use him in the future! With the Seraphims and Pacifistas the World Government is coming up with, Blackbeard is gonna need more men for his army! And despite his looks, he knows how to plan ahead. Most of the conflicts in One Piece were caused by him! He doesn’t need any ordinary men. He needs someone he can use!
He had used Ace before to be a Warlord, and there seems to be no doubt he would use him again knowing he has the means to and especially AGAINST Luffy. Ace is buried in the New World. His body is readily available, all it needs is a shadow. Now, whose shadow will it be? We might never know! Or it could be Blackbeard’s?
I know what you are thinking, but this is not bringing Ace back to life! Technically, it is. Luffy is bent on preserving Ace’s legacy as seen in the Dressrosa Arc when Ace’s Devil Fruit was up for grabs in a tournament. Even if he can’t consume another Devil Fruit, he still participated just so no one unworthy gets the fruit his brother previously owned.
So imagine what anger and vulnerability Luffy will experience when he sees a reanimated Ace using Gecko Moria’s Kage Kage no Mi? It’s not exactly Ace, but that is the body of the person he sees as a brother. That is still Ace for Luffy! And for it to be desecrated by Blackbeard himself is such an underhanded move… that is not far from reality!
Even if Gecko Moria expresses that he doesn’t want to join Blackbeard’s crew, his Devil Fruit abilities can just be taken in means similar to Whitebeard (One Piece 485) or to the attempt on Hancock (One Piece Chapter 1059). Moria is not that strong and Blackbeard is shown to have two Devil Fruits and he doesn’t seem to mind having a third one!
Conclusion
Gecko Moria’s fate is still undetermined up until now. But it seems there are fans that see him as a useful asset either under Blackbeard or Luffy’s crew. Whether it would be for evil or for good, we’ll just have to find out.

I think it would be a very interesting concept and fight for Luffy. Thinking logistically, Zoro or Sanji would need to help Luffy see it’s not really Ace, but just a walking shell that looks like Ace. Heaps of potential for character development for all the Straw Hats (and potentially Gecko Moria). Any way, would love to see this kind of thing in the fight against Blackbeard.
Well now I hope that never happens. Which to be honest if I were Oda I’d probably do it just cause everyone wants him back so much even though he’s said no. I am gonna say though why does Pell gets to pull an Iron Giant and live to tell the tale. We literally see him get nuked but nah he’s good.
