Appearance

Rika Orimoto, in her human form, was very pretty. As a young girl, she had a petite, delicate build, with her black hair styled in a peaceful way reaching her shoulders.
She had gorgeous eyes, and, in those eyes, there was a glow, a glow that was reflective of her personality, which made anyone who saw her consider her to be overwhelmingly lovely. Her outfit also matched her character. She wore a tight black dress that had a white collar and was adorned with hearts. She, as a human, was one of the most beautiful characters in the entire manga (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 1).

However, her appearance took a 360-degree turn after that tragic accident. Her appearance as a vindictive curse was horrifying. On the surface, she came across as a gigantic monstrous curse with a muscular V-shaped upper body with a tail-like shadow in place of her lower body. Several veils extended her head, and her mouth was full of thin, powerful jaws, with long and sharp fingernails. She possessed a single cycloptic eye, usually concealed under a brain-like exoskeleton, making everyone around Yuta freak out.
Personality

As the series progresses, Rika Orimoto’s character drastically changes from a young girl having feelings for a guy to falling madly in love with that person to the point; she’ll sacrifice and destroy anything for him.
She was the physical manifestation of what we call “mad love”. Rika was more of a childhood lover than a friend to Yuta. She enjoyed romantic attachment with Yuta and was in deep love with him. It’s safe to say that she was a little rebellious and brave as she stole her mother’s wedding ring and decided to give it to Yuta on his birthday (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 1).
The ring that she gave Yuta was supposed to be a promise ring. “We both will get married in the future no matter what,” said Rika to Yuta, to which Yuta happily agreed. It was pretty clear that there was mutual love among them, and Yuta reciprocated feelings for her too (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 1).

But well, things didn’t turn out too good for them, as after a few days she got hit by a car and BOOM! that smashed her head. Yuta lost his mind upon this and started to cry out loud and told her not to die. These desperate cries made Rika become cursed. Afterward, she always remained by his side as they were supposed to get married no matter what (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 1).
Their love was so strong that, even after death, caused by that tragic accident, it didn’t fade out. Instead, it grew even more vital. Even as a vengeful spirit, her priority was to protect Yuta. However, the overwhelming power and lack of experience created trouble for people around him.
Rika was ready to eliminate anything that would hurt him. In her mind, only one person mattered, and that was Yuta. She only cared for him and devoted all complete loyalty to him.
Rika, however, didn’t like the fact that Yuta cared for Maki. She wanted Yuta all to herself, so yeah, she was very possessive.
Strengths and Skills

Rika’s strength was unparalleled as she was a special grade, vengeful cursed spirit. The higher-ups regarded the entire manifestation of Rika as a severe threat. The higher-ups are cowards, as they’ll kill anyone powerful. They ordered to execute Yuta and Rika, as they feared a curse of this level would cause grave dangers for them.
However, Gojo, the possibly most OP character in the entire manga, suspended the execution trial and said if they do go evil, he will be the first man to kill them (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 2).
Rika was so strong that she could quickly annihilate a mass number of non-sorcerers and jujutsu sorcerers by just projecting her arms. Once Yuta relied on her to make her fully manifest, Rika’s strength overshadowed almost every other curse.

Suguru Geto, one of the most formidable curse manipulators with more than four thousand afflicted spirits, viewed Rika as the absolute Queen of Curses. He sacrificed everything to obtain her power. If somehow, he becomes successful and manages to get Rika on his side, Geto anticipated she was all he needed to eliminate all non-sorcerers.

Full Manifestation
By promising Rika to be with her forever, to be in love with her beyond death, Yuta planned to sacrifice himself to get beyond the bounds of cursed energy. This opened the eye of Rika and turned her into an even more powerful form.
She was then able to fire a “pure love” energy beam, the most potent curse of all. Rika’s ultimate strike annihilated Uzumaki and his special grade spirit Tamamo-No-Mae’s Avatar (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 4).

Cursed Energy
With the assistance of Rika, Yuta Okkotsu was able to fight Geto and overcome all his cursed spirits. She helped him with his physical attacks and utilized her quickness to prevent him from being in jeopardy.
To combat the maximum technique of Geto, Uzumaki, Yuta violated the boundaries for the cursed energy of Rika and made her more formidable than ever (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 4).

Adaptability
Rika can change her size too, to better assist Yuta in his fight against Geto. She changed her size to something smaller so that she could better match Yuta’s moves.
She can even enhance her partner’s skills, as she boosted Yuta’s mobility, deflected oncoming blows, and, with the black sack of cursed power, even carried his wounded comrades (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 4).

Copying Techniques
She can also copy other cursed techniques, as, during her fight with Geto, she summoned a megaphone, “Snake Eyes and Fangs”, that belonged to the Inumaki Family.
This enabled Yuta to mimic the talents of a malignant speaker in the Inumaki family, strengthening his words with an evil force and increasing the compulsion of his order.
He then destroyed a number of Geto’s spirits by just yelling “Die” in front of them (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 4).
Facts
- Her spirit was cursed when she died, converting into a formidable, particularly vengeful, cursed energy entitled “Queens of Curses.”
- She always loved Yuta.
- Rika didn’t curse Yuta. It was the other way around; after seeing her dead, Yuta released a tremendous amount of curse energy in the shape of cries and tears. That energy ended up cursing the spirit of Rika.
Past/History

Not much is known about her past, except that she loved Yuta from the very beginning. Her mother died when she was only 5. After living a while with her father, she enrolled in an elementary school.
One day they decided to go mountain climbing. However, she got separated from her father. Most probably, her father died or ran away. She was found alone by the rescue team on the summit of the mountain.
Her grandmother from her father’s side took her in, but she was always strict with her. She believed that Rika was the reason for her mother’s death and her father’s disappearance. She met Yuta at the hospital after her father’s disappearance.

Relationships

Yuta Okkotsu
She only loved and cared for one person, and that was Yuta. When she was human, her approach towards other people was just okay, not too friendly, but she disliked all humans after being cursed except for Yuta. She also didn’t like any girls hanging around Yuta.
Plot/Synopsis

Rika is one of the essential characters in the manga. She, as the full-time partner of Yuta, played a significant role in developing his personality.
She saved Yuta‘s life on several occasions. Like when he tried to commit suicide, she came in his way and stopped him (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 1).
Rika also played a vital role in defeating Geto. If she had fallen into Geto’s hand, it would have been awful for the jujutsu sorcerer, because according to Geto, she was the “Queen of Curses” (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 3-4).

Throughout Yuta‘s childhood, Rika would always protect him from danger because she loved him. Anytime a bully would encounter Yuta, she would hurt him or kill him because she didn’t want anybody to harm Yuta.
Rika crammed four pupils in a locker in November 2016 that were bullying Yuta. Yuta, after going through constant hells, decides he can no longer stay alive. He leaps towards the dark path of suicide, but Rika doesn’t let him go astray as his protector. She stops him and gives him another reason to live. Yuta was brought to Tokyo Jujutsu High after the occurrence. It was at this period that Yuta had decided to register at school to exorcise Rika one day (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 1).
When Gojo told the students that a new transfer student was arriving in Tokyo Jujutsu High, they were excited to meet him. However, when Yuta entered the school, the former students instantly noticed the curse and were onto him. However, at this moment, Rika appeared, which made all of them take a step back. After this encounter, Gojo explained what exactly had happened (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 1).

The first time Rika made the screen was when Yuta and Maki went on a rescue mission. The mission was simple as Maki was thought to overpower the curse. The curse had kidnapped some of the kids at the school. Their task was easy. They just needed to free them and exorcise that curse. However, things became a bit tough when they got swallowed by the curse. In a fit of fury, Yuta lost his mind and started to contemplate that they were all going to die (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 1).
Yuta started to scream desperately and called onto Rika for help. It was his first time calling Rika. Once Rika came out, she annihilated and overpowered the entire curse like nothing but rubbish in front of her (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 1).
Geto, in the meantime, got interested in Rika and started calling her “Queen of Curses.” He made a public statement and told Gojo that he declared war. He followed it up with his escape by making an invasion at the site with his deadly curses. However, Gojo, along with his companion, took care of them. On the other hand, Geto managed to escape (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 3).

On the 24th of December, to execute his plan and win the war, Geto invaded the college. His primary goal was to eliminate Yuta and get Rika on his side. During their encounter, Yuta summons Rika and fights against Geto and the cursed spirits around them. Yuta asks Rika to grab his friend and escort them to a safer location, to which Rika readily agrees (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 4).
When he grabs Maki, Rika gets exceedingly jealous and grabs her and starts to run away. Yuta then explains his friends’ importance to him, especially Maki, and then points out to Geto and says he is his true enemy. On this, Rika obediently says sorry for her previous action and says if Geto is his enemy, then he is her enemy too (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 4).
Rika and Geto then face off with each other head to head. When Geto sees the immense display of power by Rika as she easily crushes and dismantles his cursed spirits, his desire to acquire Rika becomes even more significant. Then Geto reduces the distance between him and them and converts the battle into close combat, to which he easily overpowers Rika.

However, being in a close quarters fight with Geto made him reveal all of his fighting styles in front of Yuta. Yuta uses this revelation as an advantage and manages to push Geto into a corner (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 4).
However, the fight doesn’t end here, as Geto had one more trick up his sleeve. He then, to win, summons another great particular grade curse and uses his Maximum: Uzumaki Technique to the its limit, which is combining all four thousand four hundred sixty more curses he had in his possession to do a one-hit attack. Yuta at this point, gives up and thanks Rika for always protecting him and then kisses her as a token of goodbye. However, this kiss excites Rika and breaks all of the curse limits on Rika (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 4).
Rika then unlocked her true potential that enabled her to use a powerful blast, which annihilated all Geto’s cursed spirits, including Geto himself (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 4).

Rika waits for Yuta to wake up after he falls unconscious. When Yuta regains consciousness, Maki, Toge and Panda appear. He then tells his friends that he needed to sacrifice himself to break the limit on Rika’s curse. As Yuta prepares to rejoin Rika while he is still alive, Rika unexpectedly reappears. As all of them are perplexed, Gojo tells everyone that the curse of Rika has now dissipated.
Gojo recounts how after she died, Yuta cursed Rika because he was unable to accept her loss. As Yuta starts blaming himself for everybody Rika hurt, she embraces Yuta and tells him how she has been thankful for staying by Yuta’s side in the last six years. Rika then waves farewell to Yuta and vanishes (Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Chapter 4).

Final Verdict
Rika may be the symbol of Mad Love and harmed a lot of individuals because of her obsession of Yuta but that doesn’t mean there isn’t some depth in her character. Rika was cursed because of Yuta, but she didn’t even hate him because she was much happier being a cursed spirit while staying by Yuta’s side. This goes to show that even the most monstrous entities have a heart deep inside the darkness
