Jujutsu Kaisen Review - Let's Talk About It
Yuji Itadori, our protagonist, that one rowdy guy who’s always up for some action, eats a cursed finger of a demon called SAKUNA!!! With that powerful spirit, he aces every chance he gets, and so far, it’s getting wild in the Jujutsu Kaisen Series. Itadori’s main purpose to live now is to bring peace and help the weak people.
This purpose was added into his mind by his grandfather, and ever since the series started, Itadori’s character development is unreal. Even though the inspiration here is Naruto for sure. We can still see how unique Jujutsu Kaisen is.
The mc relating to Naruto, Megumi to Sasuke (somewhat), and Nobara to Sakura? Well, it sums up how it all works out. Moreover, Sakuna itself is as intimidating as the Nine-Tails from Naruto was. AND GOJO! Their teacher resembles a lot Kakashi, and right now, there’s this hot debate of whether to choose Gojo or Kakashi.
Jujutsu Kaisen and the Japanese Environment
While most of the Shounen Anime would go for either too advanced stuff or the past, Jujutsu Kasien takes the spot for being the most normal-looking Shounen Anime we’ve ever watched. Yuji Itadori is the MC who’s living in the modern world of Japan. The whole storyline follows the pretty basic yet predictable storyline.
However, after you let your guard down and predict the next move, IT’S TOO COMPLEX TO PREDICT THE EVENTS! Moreover, the Jujutsu Kasien series is also inspired by Bleach in several ways. Itadori being the host of Sakuna, it’s highly relatable to what Ichigo was.
With the basic introduction aside, let’s talk about the reasons why Jujutsu Kaisen can become the next big thing in the Shounen genre. Or has it already gone for it?
Reasons WHY Jujutsu Kaisen Will Make It To The Top
Becoming one of the most popular Anime in recent times, Jujutsu Kaisen is going crazy. While we are talking about the Jujutsu Kaisen Review, let’s talk about why it has the potential to make it to the top of the Shounen Anime game.
1. The Sick Animation of Jujutsu Kaisen
When a studio like MAPPA takes place to make the big stuff, it’s always a pleasure to watch. A lot of people hated the recent Attack on Titan animation due to some weird reason. However, MAPPA has improved its quality in every possible way. It’s just unreal!
When we talk about Jujutsu Kaisen, the animation is top-notch. We can proudly say that it’s easily on par with Demon Slayer which is considered to have one of the best animations ever.
As of now, the animation is slick. It’s giving us an experience no one has ever done. Moreover, with those badass action fighting scenes, the viewers can easily get hooked on the Anime itself. In other words, all the credit goes to MAPPA for now.
2. The Intimidating Vibes of DEATH in Jujutsu Kaisen
Jujutsu Kaisen is just playing with death itself. The curses, the whole ecosystem, the awesome fights, the whole Anime is revolving around life and death. In other words, the writer wants to tell us that there’s a thin line between life and death, and there’s a thin line between love and hate.
Moreover, even in the Anime series, we’ve seen countless deaths, and it makes the whole look and feel pretty intimidating to the point where you’d get chills sometimes. Whether it’s a supporting character, a normal person, or someone innocent, THE PLOT IS SCARY!
Well, when we talk about the Jujutsu Kaisen review, this is to be included. Like, one of the scenes where we saw cafe killing and school killing as well, the whole Anime can be dark at times. No wonder people are loving it, right?
3. The Storyline Is TOO FAST
When we see Shounen Anime, the plot tends to be slow most of the time. However, Jujutsu Kaisen takes it to a whole other level. Right off the bat, you’re getting kickass action that will only leave you hanging for more. From the initial arc to the latest tournament arc, Jujutsu Kaisen has given us something different.
In terms of the storyline, it moves as fast as the God of High School series that was just released. In other words, you’re never getting bored watching Jujutsu Kaisen. From the main character to support ones, the list is just too much with a little time left.
4. Dark Vibes of the MC
Right off the bat, Yuji Itadori realizes the ferocity of the world. He knows that not everyone can be saved in this world. However, his main motive was to protect the weak? The constant dark vibes and sad moments of Jujutsu Kaisen are what make it so dark.
While in other Shounen Anime, the MC would do something impossible. And he would surprise everyone around him. However, that’s not the case with Itadori here. He couldn’t save a lot of people from dying. Even though it seems too brutal, that’s the reality of life.
The writer has a pretty dark brain, eh? Well, you sometimes can’t predict what’s going to happen in Jujutsu Kaisen. That’s where the writer catches you off-guard and does something completely unexpected. In other words, the story speaks facts. Death is always around us and we can’t do anything to stop it. That’s the REALITY OF LIFE.
5. THE ACTION
TOO MUCH ACTION. Do you want to overdose on the action? Well, Jujutsu Kaisen has got you covered. Well, people who watch Shounen are mostly in it for action. That’s where Jujutsu Kaisen provides the best experience of all time.
The whole ecosystem of making characters fight while improving their character itself is what makes Jujutsu Kaisen one of the best action Anime ever. Most of the time in Jujutsu Kaisen, you are going to see action.
But honestly, the greatest action mixed with that sexy animation is blissful for most people. It’s just too great of an experience for the Otakus to be familiar with.
Countless fights with moments that are dark, it’s just unreal.
6. NO FILLERS?
When we talk about fillers, they have destroyed the reputation of a lot of Anime out there. From Dragon Ball Z to Bleach, the consistency is broken when we talk about more fillers. However, in Jujutsu Kaisen, the whole story is just different. You’re not getting filler. Or rather, you’re getting time skips in between.
But hey, the folks at Jujutsu Kaisen are doing it in the most organized way. It seems like they are focusing on every little detail that can make the Anime pretty cool. You will constantly see timeskips. From weeks to months it’s not surprising. It’s just… ART!!! Even when time is skipped, they do it in a way that it won’t be messy. That’s another plus point for Jujutsu Kaisen Review, you see.
7. Character’s Abilities
Oh my GOD!!! This is where things get a lot more exciting. Initially, I was pretty skeptical watching the series. However, right after the first episode, things turned to a whole nother level. The character’s abilities are something pretty complex but fun to watch at the same time. It feels unreal!
The thing with most action Anime out there is the simplicity. Whether we talk about Ichigo, Luffy, Goku, or Naruto, they have pretty simple abilities. However, in the Jujutsu Kaisen series, it can become quite difficult to understand at times. THE CURSES? What are the CURSES? Why am I cursed? The whole aura of confusion can make people curious.
For example, Satoru Gojo, one of the main characters, has unexplainable powers. All I can say is that… uh… No one can touch him because of space? DAMN IT, I’m confused again. For reference, Jujutsu Kaisen’s power levels are inspired by Hunter x Hunter.
Perfectly Balanced - AS ALL THINGS SHOULD BE
Dark Shounen? Dark Fantasy? What route does Jujutsu Kaisen take? Well, it’s a mix of sad and happy moments. The Anime tries too hard to portray a dark storyline, however, we still can’t forget all those cute moments that our characters had in the series.
With these many characters, the whole series is a mix of light and dark. While the dark moments tend to make you all teary, the fun moments are there to stay. This is another reason why Jujutsu Kaisen is an awesome addition to the world of Shounen.
In other words, it takes more of the Hunter x Hunter approach but makes it a little light at some points. Got it?
Jujutsu Kaisen Review - The CONS!
1. Our MCs Parting Pretty Early In The Series
One of the most frustrating things about Jujutsu Kaisen is the fact that as soon as our MCs got introduced to each other, they had to part their ways. Even worse, the two supporting main characters thought that Yuji Itadori died.
And the time skip showed us how mature everyone became. This whole aura of confusion was what made things complicated and sad for the Jujutsu Kaisen viewers. Like c,mon!!! We wanted to see some MC moments throughout the series.
However, the good thing is that they fixed it already, but the interaction between the main trio is still minimal!
2. The Villains Are So Predictable
In the fight of predictable and unpredictable, Jujutsu Kaisen has villains, unlike any other series. I agree. However, their motive is a normie one. Like, LET’S DESTROY THE WORLD CAUSE HUMANS ARE BAD. All this stuff seems generic to the point where the whole series can become predictable at times.
One of the main antagonists, Mahito, is a crazy one. Getting constant hate by the viewers for being a generic villain, this guy just doesn’t compare to other villains in the series. It seems too simple at this point. Hence, Mahito is just there to enjoy the fight and discover the world. If this isn’t predictable, I don’t know what is!
3. Fewer Episodes mean Less ACTION!!!
While we know how hard it is to Animate and write an Anime, with just 24 episodes, it’s nowhere near to handle the hotness this series has brought upon us. It’s just UNREAL! The action is too good and the episodes are too less. In other words, the whole experience is affected.
When I first started watching Jujutsu Kaisen, it was great. The start was great. The action is STILL GREAT. Everything about the series seems perfect. However, the number of episodes they’ve chosen. I’m not too sure. Well, hopefully, we’ll get the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen pretty soon. But that’s it. Fewer Episodes MEANS LESS ACTION.
Jujutsu Kaisen is by far, one of the most unique and epic Shounen Anime that was launched in 2020. We still expect it to grow with time and would love to watch more action by Yuji Itadori. For parting words, we would say that it was an unrivaled experience that not a lot of other Shounen Anime can provide. It’s a 10/10 for action though.
In another world, the philosophical words by different characters and the mix of modern-day Japan take the story to a whole other level. Jujutsu Kaisen is not just an Anime. It speaks the truth in every way possible.
