Synopsis

The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya

The plot of this particular comedy sci-fi anime is a very unique one, just like the release order of the episodes. The MC of this series is a high school girl called Haruhi Suzumiya. She has a very distinguishable personality. She’s a person that lives in her own little bubble of antics and fun.

Her story is going to be told by one of her classmates and her friend who is always caught up in all the weird situations that she will be getting herself into. Her name is Kyon.

During their adventures, they will meet a huge quantity of peculiar people, but three of them will play a major role in the unfolding of her story.

Those three people are Mikuru Asahina, a time traveller; Yuki Nagato, an alien; and Itsuki Koizumi, an esper.

They were sent to Haruhi with a task. The girl has a special power that allows her to destroy the world as she sees fit and build a new one instead.

The good news is that she isn’t aware of that fact, but unfortunately, she can still activate her ability unconsciously. The trigger is boredom.

The mission of the three fellas is to make sure that Haruhi is always entertained in order to prevent a future catastrophe, while also making sure she never discovers what she can do to the universe.

However, that mission is going to prove itself a challenging one since that hyperactive student is always searching for more and more excitement to add to her already super eventful life.

This is a short anime series of only 29 episodes, and yet approximately half of them are fillers. There are 16 official filler episodes, making the filler percentage as high as 55%.

But let me tell you, the fillers are just as hilarious and fun as the main story. They have an entertaining plot of their own. You’ll feel as if you got two anime for the price of one.

The one-of-a-kind art style also adds to the appeal of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and each character was carefully thought out, making each of them loveable in one way or another.

It’s a great show if you want to get away from your normal life and go to a world full of weirdness and imagination.
