WHAT IS SSSS.GRIDMAN?
SSSS.Gridman, a Japanese television series that is an adaptation of the tokusatsu series of 1994 entitled Denkou Choujin Gridman, which ran from 1993 to 1994. It is a cooperative effort among Tsuburaya Productions, which is known for its work on Gridman as well as the Ultra Series, as well as the production firm Trigger. This was televised for a total of twelve episodes between October and December of last year. Followed by a sequel that was televised from April until June of 2021 as part of a series named SSSS.Dynazenon.
PLOT
In the morning, Yuuta Hibiki awakens in Rikka Takarada’s room then realizes two things: that he would have no thoughts and memories, and that he would hear a mysterious calling of his name from another room in the same building.
Following up on his discovery, he discovers a robot while behind the display of an outdated computer, which identifies itself like Hyper Agent Gridman and announces itself as such.
For reasons that are not entirely clear, Rikka is unable to hear Gridman or see the terrifying beasts lurking in the dense fog that has descended upon the town outside, much to the amazement of Yuuta.
Another colossal creature appears in the city and begins wreaking havoc among the inhabitants. In the midst of the chaos, Yuuta finds himself lured back to the old computer, where he fuses with Gridman.
He emerges unexpectedly in the midst of the conflict and is compelled to engage the creature. As part of the “Gridman Alliance,” Yuuta joins forces with Rikka as well as fellow student Shou Utsumi in order to combat the monsters that have ravaged the city and track down those accountable for their appearance.
