Soul Eater Story Arcs
1. Prologue Arc

Now, the first arc follows three teams, the first team has Maka Albarn who is a Meister and Soul Eater weapon partner. They seem to have accumulated close to a hundred kishin souls. But they end up losing the souls they caught because they were unable to find a witch.
Then, we follow the second team who is Tsubaki, the weapon, and Black Star, the meister, who try to track down a witch called Angela who is being protected by her bodyguard Mifune. They find a way to defeat her bodyguard and then they meet Angela.
Angela ends up being a little kid so they sympathize with her and not kill her or take her soul. Now, the reason why each team is looking for a witch is that their headmaster Death needs the soul of a witch to make a weapon called the Death Scythe.

Now, we are on the third team, the third team has the son of the headmaster Death. He is known as Death the Kid, who goes hunting for souls in the Anubis’ Pyramid in Egypt. Where it is said that a witch is said to be resurrecting mummies to create a Pharaoh that would be evil.
While battling the witch, Death the Kid gets distracted and leaves Patty and Liz Thompson, his weapons, to try and capture the souls of the mummies by himself. Death the Kid was unable to defeat the witch and had to escape because the pyramid was collapsing.
When Death the Kid returns to school, he is compelled to release souls he held captive as punishment.
2. Remedial Lessons Arc

Black Star, Tsubaki, Maka, and Soul take a make-up class together in order to avoid expulsion to make up for the souls they did not collect.
They are then taken to a cemetery to battle Sid Barrett, a powerful meister who has been transformed into a zombie, and their former teacher. After capturing Sid, they find out that the person who transformed Sid into a zombie was Dr.Frenken Stein, who was one of the strongest meisters to graduate from their high school.
Maka, Black Star, Soul, and Tsubaki end up fighting Dr. Stein, who demonstrates his fighting prowess and nearly murders Black Star. After fighting for a long time, Dr.Stein ends up telling them that the fight was a test which they actually passed.
Later on, in the arc, we see the Thompson sisters with Death the Kid getting admitted into the high school, and not long after during the first day of school, Black Star and Soul team up to fight them. Just by chance was Black Star and Soul able to beat Death the Kid.
3. Demon Sword Arc

In this arc, we see ourselves in Italy because Soul and Maka had to go there for an additional lesson to catch a soul that is evil in this arc.
After they are done with their mission, a strong soul operation is detected by Maka in the direction of a church and they end up going to check it out.
During the investigation, they come across Crona, who is the Ragnarok Demon Sword’s meister, and they end up fighting him. From the looks of it, it seemed like they would lose.
Maka’s father, Death Scythe and Stein appear just as Crona is about to murder Maka and Soul. Ragnarok’s power is to make a weapon out of every drop of blood from Crona, which makes it difficult for the two, but they join their strength and end up defeating Crona.

Crona’s master had been watching the fight from afar. On the other hand, Excalibur is a Holy Sword that is a legendary relic with amazing abilities that are said to outshine all others and promise infinite glory to whoever wields it. Black Star and Kid find this out.
They decide to look for the Excalibur, but are disappointed when they meet him, they are unable to bear his uncontrollable personality and abandon him. Death Scythe, meanwhile, tries to make Maka, who is still concerned about Soul, feel better by explaining the Demon Sword’s origins.
He described it as a sword that devours the souls of humans which is on the verge of transforming to a kishin and this is what the DWMA was established to prevent.
4. Uncanny Sword Arc

In this arc, Tsubaki and Black Star have been given the responsibility of hunting down and defeating Masaune, which is an enchanted sword that has been eating human souls. They end up finding Masaune and a fight breaks out.
Luckily, the match was easily won and the enchanted sword was defeated. Back at the school, just before a medical check-up, Soul ends up talking to Medusa in regards to a dream he regularly has and the dream shows him being irritated by a small demon, which ends up making him get power through the madness.
We then see that in the dream, which is more like a nightmare scene, he sees himself coming out of Maka’s stomach. Medusa tells him it could be because of Ragnarok’s black blood.

In another scene, Maka is still worried about Soul’s injury, and she makes up her mind that she wants to get more vital to the point where she would not have to rely on Soul for protection. However, she has to try to fight her fears of Soul getting hurt again.
Meanwhile, both these witches, Mizune and Eruka Frog ambushes and tries to murder Medusa because of her plans. But they discover that when Medusa confronted them earlier, she implanted mystical snakes into the insides of their bodies, killing Mizune.
Eruka manages to flee with her life, but Medusa tracks her down and compels her to evade the Witch Prison and allow a prisoner who’d already stolen the witches’ leader’s eye to escape, which Medusa intends to use for an experiment on Souls.
5. The Experiment Arc

In this arc, under the influence of emotional stimulants, Soul and Maka go through a unique training session with Stein, during which they begin to point out each other’s weaknesses.
This provokes them to butt heads, and the ensuing conflict threatens to keep both of their souls from connecting with one another.
They end up going to London for classes with another team, Tsubaki and Black Star, where they meet Filler, an ever-living werewolf with a mystical eye. He was out there because of Eruka who helped Medusa free him from Witch Prison.
On a suspension bridge, they had a battle with Free and during the fight, Black Star faints due to him using Tsubaki’s new mode which is the Enchanted Sword. This means that Soul and Maka have to fight on their own.

However, there is one problem, which is that their souls were not on the same wavelength. It had already deviated to the stage where Soul as a weapon ends up burning Maka’s hands, making him unusable.
They both start to argue again then Tsubaki tries to convince them to put their rivalry aside and acknowledge one another. This enabled each soul to communicate better than ever before, though this causes black blood madness from Soul to grow stronger and threaten to consume his partner’s soul.
In spite of that, Maka had to go up against Free and use her skill, the Witch Hunter on him, which pushes him off the bridge with the help of the newly resurrected Black Star. Maka ends up coughing out black blood on her palm after the battle.

A big test is coming up, and all of the DWMA students are preparing for it in some way. Maka believes she must be the first in class, she wants to be like her mother, in order to outperform her class rival, Ox Ford.
Death the Kid thinks he knows all of the answers to the test and spends his time drawing a symmetrical face. Liz spends her time fretting about her appearance, while Patty sleeps peacefully.
After futilely attempting to study, Black Star attempts to steal the test answers, only to be caught and punished by Stein. Sid quickly apprehends Soul for stockpiling cheat sheets in his clothing.
Patty folds her test into an origami giraffe, while Kid spends the entire exam writing his name. Maka eventually receives the highest grade in her class.
5. Black Dragon Arc

We follow Kid and the Thompson sisters on the path to find the Black Dragon, who had recently attacked the Baltic Sea in this arc. They end up on Nidhogg which is a ship, as a result of their investigation, which is under the control of an evil soul. As they pursue a soul that is evil, he directs Liz towards the ship’s hull.
There, she meets a human spirit who leads her towards the ship’s deck, where she meets her sister and Kid. Immediately the sisters turn into handguns to aid Kid in his battle against the evil soul.
Crona, on the other hand, arrives, slashes off the evil spirit’s head, and awakens Ragnarok in anticipation of the new battle.
Kid’s battle against Crona continues. Kid begins to attack Crona rashly, but Crona partially escapes. Crona then uses a technique that produces loud noise, which causes the ship to break into two. Kid starts chasing Crona. However, because he was fascinated with symmetry, he lets Crona escape.

Meanwhile, Maka pays a visit to Medusa and tells her about coughing out blood that was black in color. Medusa responded by giving her pills that would increase the appearance of black-colored blood, though Maka doesn’t know about this. Stein later heads to meet Medusa because he is interested in getting more information about the drugs and becomes sure of himself that Medusa is a witch.
As a result, he dispatches Mila Naigus and Sid to Medusa’s mansion to conduct further investigations in order to uncover the secret about Medusa’s evil plans involving Maka’s illness.
They are apprehended by Eruka, who was deployed by Medusa to obtain a bag containing black blood, required to carry out the plot. Kid goes back to the school and questions his father about the fact if there were kishin at the academy.

This arc explains why Medusa Gorgon has been researching Black Blood which is because she wants to turn Crona and Ragnarok into Kishin.
Medusa obviously wants to see if the Black Blood can resurrect the first Kishin, Asura, whose global spread of madness can force the world to evolve and thus put an end to the DWMA’s fixation on protecting the status quo.
Death sends his meisters and weapons all over the world to fight for him because not only does he need to maintain this seal around Death City at all times, but he may never leave Death City after forming this seal.
Asura is the Kishin who is “closest” to Kid, according to the Flying Dutchman. While his remark refers to Asura residing within Death City, Asura may be another fragment of Death, meaning he is Kid’s brother.
7. A Fight to the Death at The Big Bash Arc

The seventh arc of the Soul Eater anime is A Fight to the Death at the Big Bash Arc. Now in this arc, Medusa and her minions carry out their scheme to resurrect the kishin, trapping the headmaster Death and the school’s meisters and weapons.
We see some meisters and their weapons clash in an attempt to foil Medusa’s evil scheme to revive Asura, the Kishin.
Death’s comment that Asura “likely hasn’t been human since the beginning” and inhabited so much dread. This foresees the realization that Asura is a fragment of Lord Death, possessing all of Lord Death’s wariness, effectively making him Lord Death’s son, Asura, is a Shinigami.
Then a small Ogre repeats the same thing Crona had said, which is that “Hell is all in the head.” This argument was possibly associated with the craziness from the Black Blood which was depicted by Crona and the Ogre himself.

Spirit says Stein hasn’t “fought anyone in a long time.” He doesn’t mention Stein’s tussle against Black Star and Maka, possibly because he considers that a make-up lesson to be a sham or his battle against Crona and his first combat in opposition to Medusa.
We see Stein saying he wants “a system put in place by gods that are not arrogant,” implying that he views Kid and his father as the best candidate for that.
When Sid was using Forced Burial to give a chance for Stein and the students to run away at the beginning of this story arc, the meisters were able to get back on their feet but the weapons landed on their backs, which Soul recognized.
That’s because in most cases it is always the weapons who end up fighting alone and attending to their wounded meisters.
8. Trial Enrollment Arc

The eighth story arc in Soul Eater is the Trial Enrollment Arc. In this arc, Ragnarok and Crona are attending DWMA; then we see that Arachne Gorgon awakens from her hundreds of years of dormancy. As a result of Asura’s Madness, this kicks off her network with the rise of Arachnophobia.
After taking into account their status and situation, Death admits both Ragnarok and Crona as students but on probation in the school in hopes of turning the both of them into powerful new companions.
Arachne Gorgon tries to get her different parts back together after hundreds of years of separating her soul into different spiders, while also keeping an eye on the world. Arachnophobia becomes a significant threat to Death Weapon Meister Academy, with Giriko and Mosquito acting as her Minion.
9. The Bodyguard Arc

This arc is basically one episode which is Episode 28. While Maka is trying to recover, Sid gets a new report from Azusa about the whereabouts of one of Arachnophobia’s labs, where Mosquito is developing a magical tool that messes with people’s morals.
While they devise a plan to dismantle it, Black Star pursues them and attacks the infrastructure where he encounters Arachne’s new bodyguard, Mifune.
Even after exhausting all of his strength, he is unable to beat Angela’s bodyguard, but an ambush set up by Sid, Naigus, and Asuza allows him to flee. Black Star gives Maka a piece of candy that Mifune gave him to comfort her at the end.
Maka is recovering from paralysis brought on by her battle against Arachne. Her recovery will be celebrated at a party at Kid’s residence in the Reunion Express Arc. After defeating Kid, we see Black Star regain his composure and then defeat Mifune in a near-death battle.
10. Reunion Express Arc

The Reunion Express Arc is Soul Eater’s tenth story arc. In this arc, we see Medusa come out of the grave. Stein tries to teach a new method to his students, only to discover that it causes problems with teamwork.
Meanwhile, Kid is tasked by his father with retrieving the Eternal Spring from the Runaway Express, but he grows wary of both his father and Eibon, the creator of the Demon Tools.
Here are some other things that happened in this arc. In this arc, we are introduced to the Duel Arts and Chain Resonance. This arc provides more information about sorcerers like Eibon, Demon Tools, and the Great Old Ones to set up the “BREW” – The Tempest Arc.
This arc basically explains Maka Albarn’s first collaboration with Soul Eater. Highlighting the significance of his piano skills for a successful Chain Resonance with Black Star and their classmates.
11. “BREW” The Tempest Arc

“BREW” – The Tempest Arc is the eleventh major story arc in Soul Eater. It portrays the battle on Lost Island. Alaska, among Arachnophobia and the DWMA, obtains a weapon that the sorcerer Eibon created, the Demon Tool BREW.
Medusa’s gain of BREW ends up being critical because she intends to suggest a truce with Shibusen in the future. All so that she can defend herself. The BREW will be used by Medusa to defend herself from Shibusen during which time she abducts Stein.
The organization ends up using BREW to conquer arachnophobia and other dangers after Medusa delivers it to Shibusen. BREW is used by Joe Buttataki, so as to turn Death City into a robot, allowing Asura to get captured by Death.
This arc also takes us into the witches’ and Death’s relationship with Eibon, and also shows how Arachne learned of plans for her to create her own devil weapons.
12. Internal Investigation Arc

The twelfth story arc in Soul Eater is the Internal Investigation Arc and is the first in which the anime differs from the manga. As he suspects a traitor within the ranks, Death enlists Joe Buttataki to find the person responsible for instigating the events leading up to Stein’s descent into madness.
The kid embarks on his own investigation to find out more about demon tools, questioning his father’s real intent for collecting all of Eibon’s demonic implements and their relation to Joe Buttataki’s arrival in Death City. Meanwhile, Asura teams up with Arachnophobia.
Death suspects a mole within DWMA based on how Stein went insane at the critical moment of acquiring BREW on Lost Island. As a result, Death sends Joe Buttataki to Death City to investigate.
Marie Mjolnir’s backstory is revealed, including her prior romantic relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Joe Buttataki. Joe is murdered by another mole within the DWMA before he can reignite his relationship with Marie and figure out who implanted a snake within her.
13. Operation Capture Baba Yaga Castle Arc

Operation Capture Baba Yaga Castle Arc is Soul Eater’s thirteenth story anime arc. Though the arcs occur in both anime and manga, the events that occur in them are slightly different.
A small group of DWMA students and Medusa’s group invade Baba Yaga Castle to assassinate Arachne and rescue Kim, Jacqueline, and Crona. Medusa is the operation’s commanding officer. In order to catch Asura, Death Weapon Meister Academy gets involved in a large-scale fight with Arachnophobia.
Meanwhile, Kid discovers Death’s true intent with the demon tools, and Medusa is locked in battle with Maka, Soul, Marie, and Crona in order to free a crazy Stein from her clutches. Arachnophobia is defeated totally by the combined forces of DWMA and Medusa’s Army, including its headquarters at Baba Yaga Castle.
Arachne, the organization’s leader, is assassinated by Maka Albarn and Soul Eater. Other Arachnophobia members are dead, disabled, or develop a defect. Mifune is killed by Black Star and Tsubaki, who then runs away from the castle with Angela.
14. Kishin Battle Arc

The Kishin Battle arc is Soul Eater’s final anime-only arc. Death fights the Kishin after capturing Asura. But he ends up getting defeated in battle, now it is up to Maka’s team to defeat the enormously powerful but weakened Asura and stop him from infecting the world.
Conclusion

This anime is excellent. I won’t put it up there with naruto but it is still an excellent anime. To be honest, there are a lot of twists and turns in the anime. You should watch it. So we have come to the end of this article and as you can see there were a lot of fillers in this one.
Why don’t you try and compare the manga with the anime to see what truly happened?
