Rurouni Kenshin Plot - Everything You
Need To Know About!
There are a total of 94 episodes of this anime that are filled with intense action, some have romance, and some have martial arts. So, if you’re into these genres, you should definitely give it a go. Indeed, Quotetheanime has beautiful recommendations.
As I’ve mentioned above, the story of Rurouni Kenshin revolves around Kenshin who’s an adventurer. He comes across one of the struggling martial arts schools in the Meiji era of Japan. Now, this guy is known to play a vital role in killing the Tokugawa Shogunate and he carries his own reverse-bladed sword everywhere he goes. He starts his journey to repent for his sinful acts and to help the needy people. He stays at the Kashin Dojo where he befriends Kaoru. You must be wondering “who’s Kaoru?” Well, he’s one of the instructors at the dojo.
Kenshin saves Kaoru from a mafia organization and that’s when a rigid young boy named Yahiko Myojin decides to be a part of the dojo. A victim who was badly injured during the war, Sanosuke becomes Kenshin’s friend. Now, with Kenshin’s new friends he starts a new journey. The events include helping the poor people, meeting a lot of new individuals, and a lot of intense fights as well. In the world of martial arts, what more do you expect, huh? Kenshin defeats everyone with his cool reverse-bladed sword. What’s going to happen next? Let’s find out!
So, we know that Kenshin is a handsome swordsman, right? He befriended many people as well. He just wants a good reputation now and he’s going to do that by helping a lot of individuals. As the story proceeds, Kenshin comes across a pickpocket who says that he belongs to the family of a samurai. After the death of his mother, he has to pay her debt and he does that by working under the yakuza. WHEW~ We all know working under yakuza is never safe, it comes with many challenges and you’re eventually just endangering your own life. Anyways, Kenshin decides to defeat the yakuza he worked under and made the pickpocket his student. The pickpocket we’re talking about is Yahiko Myojin.
As Yahiko is figuring out what’s happening around his surroundings, he comes to know that the idea of defeating your enemy is more important than helping others. He’s definitely discontent with this idea. However, Kenshin comes and defeats the policeman who was doing corruption and then he finally comes across his old friend who offers him to join the military and become an officer.
The man who got defeated by our MC in the first episode comes again, and he ends up hiring Sanosuke Sagara. He’s known as Zanza because of “zanbatou”. He hired him to get revenge on Kenshin and to defeat him eventually. Kenshin accepts the challenge and plans to befriend his opponent after winning.
Zanza comes back and decides to fight Kenshin too, he also tells him how he and his teammates were used as scapegoats. So, that’s quite sad. Isn’t it? As we move on, the story gets intense and the people, especially the goverment officials get killed by Jinei Udoh who’s known to be a ruthless murderer. The Government wants Kenshin to fight but when Jine Udoh sees him, he wants to kidnap Kaoru and considers him a “worthy” opponent. After being kidnapped, Jinei trapped Kenshin. However, our boy used a technique and saved Kaoru’s life.
As the story continues, a suspicious woman shows up to the sight where Sanosuke’s friend dies after overdosing. Everyone shows up and decides to help one another through this rough patch. Will Kenshin be able to find out what happened? The suspicious woman gets pursued by an elite group of ninjas that saved Edo Castle.
On the other hand, Yahiko ends up getting poisoned but he was saved when Megumi helped him. She also told the story of how she interacted with Kanryu. That’s when she gets abducted by one of his underdogs. When the group goes to Megumi, they see Oniwabanshu interrupting them and then Kenshin has to battle with them! Kenshin easily defeats one of the guys named Aoshi. This guy straight off asked our boy to finish him off but we know how Kenshin never does what he’s told. Therefore, Aoshi decides to take revenge! Kanryu shows up at the scene and kills four guys. At that moment, Megumi decides to take her own life but her team saves her fortunately.
As the story continues, Yahiko meets a very kawaii girl who goes by the name Tsubame Sanjo. She works under Tae Sekihara. Tsubame is literally forced to make a copy of the Akabeko restaurant key by some group of thugs. Yahiko adds up to the problem and decides to help her. Kaoru defeats Toramaru who practices sumo. He gets kicked out of his sumo group. The leader fears that their place is going to get taken and uses their status to keep Toramaru suppressed. That’s when Kaoru teaches him to be more confident and to believe in himself.
Megumi being everyones’ helper aids a girl who’s suffering from a very dangerous heart condition. That’s when a faith healer enters their town and starts to perform his own miracles to cure the girl. Before Megumi was titled as a quack, Kenshin and Sanosuke rush over to the site to save that girl.
There’s also this squad called the Jinpuu squad that performs different assassinations. One day, they try to bother a local school teacher named Sasaki. That squad forces the teacher to pick their sword up but Kenshin and Sanosuke arrive at the destination to save the day! Yay! Moving on, Sasaki decides to learn swordsmanship to become a swordsman, just so he could protect the children. Sano doesn’t want this to happen so he asks Kenshin to stop the teacher. On the other hand, Toma tries to assassinate the high-ranking officials.
The next day, this group goes to the circus and Yahiko gets intrigued by the “Human Bullet” named Marimo. The boss of the circus decides to destroy the show and make use of Marimo’s abilities. Again, Kaoru steps up in the game and decides to help her. Gohei Hiruma is one of the main antagonists who decide to take over the dojo and defeat Kenshin as well! He tricks Yahiko to bring him Kenshin’s reverse-blade sword. Now that’s a pretty smart move, eh? He also ties Yahiko and Kenshin can’t do much without his weapon but Yahiko somehow ends up bringing him his sword.
After such an intense match, the group decides to go on a vacation in Izu. A very rich boy shows up in Izu, his name is Yutaro Tsukayama who is under the influence of Raijuta, whose intentions are to create a realm with his warriors. Many interesting things happen during their vacation. For instance, the warriors of Raijata save Yutaro from drowning. Meanwhile, Kaoru teaches some swordsman techniques to Yutaro. He doesn’t really understand the concept behind it but still tries his best.
As the story moves on, Kenshin stops their battle and challenges Raijtua. Now what’s going to happen? Who’s going to win this battle? I won’t spoil it further for you guys. Anyways, their journey continues and they go through different series of events to beat the bad guys and make new nakamas. Now, since you got to know many things about the anime itself. Main Characters
Himura Kenshin
Himura Kenshin is the main character of the anime, Rurouni Kenshin. In fact, he’s known as a masterless Samurai. That means he trained by himself and became this strong. He’s been traveling around Japan for 10 years. He wishes to fix his broken reputation and help as many people as he can. He’s able to perform Jujitsu and knock his enemies out just perfectly!
He’s a fair–skinned guy who wears simple clothes. We mostly see him wearing a kimono of cheap and worn out clothes. He has a legendary scar which has a cross shape. It runs all the way from his head down to his face. Kenshin speaks very softly and is very humble too. Kenshin is the definition of a “composed hero”. His samurai abilities are second to none! He’s the type of person who would put others before himself. All these traits define our boy just perfectly. Kenshin has an open heart for everyone around him and he often gets easily embarrassed. Now, let me tell you guys about his abilities!
Despite not looking very strong, his abilities are second to none. His former master named Hiko Seijuro XIII taught him some good stuff. He’s a living legend in Japan. He’s known for his remarkable battle instinct. He can also read the attacking patterns of his enemies. In fact, his hand-to-hand combating skills are quite good too. We come to a conclusion that he’s a strong warrior with a lot of strength in him.
Makoto Shishio
Makoto Shishio is one of the main antagonists in the anime. He’s known to be a former “hitokiri”. He’s very strong and looks quite intimidating too, right? Makoto Shishio is an extremely ruthless person who loves to see other people suffer. He strongly believes in the fact that “only the strong will survive”. He has a twisted way of speaking and saying things. These all traits make him one of the scariest characters in the anime.
He’s known to be the deadliest warrior, his intellect helps in combating opponents in a smart way. He’s a man known for his strong determination and endurance. Therefore, he cannot be looked down upon. He’s quite strong and people had a hard time defeating him as well! One of his abilities includes creating sparks from the friction between his blades. He also used gunpowder and added friction in it and then BOOM!
Kaoru Kamiya
Kaoru Kamiya is also one of the main characters in the anime. She proved to be very helpful towards everyone. She’s quite strong too even though she gets in trouble often. She is one of the instructors at the dojo. She’s pretty and has samurai abilities. Kaoru is totally a waifu material, isn’t that right?
She’s a strong-willed person who doesn’t lose hope very easily. She can easily knock out a person with her strength. When Kaoru decides to do something, she goes all the way in. Trust me, you don’t want to make her angry. Her pride depends on most of the things that she does. If we talk about her temper, it’s very bad. She loses her cool if someone looks down on her or insults her. Despite her strength, she has a feminine side to her too. She loves wearing fine clothes and looking like a typical girl. Sagara Sanosuke
Next off, we have Sagara Sanosuke. He’s also one of the main characters and one of the most important characters in the anime. He stays by the side of our MC, Kenshin. He’s a very supportive friend to everyone and is always there for everybody. He’s tall, lean, and good-looking. His personality is quite balanced as well since he’s straightforward.
