PLOT
The plot revolves around Naofumi Iwatani, who’s definitely one of the most clueless MCs of all time. Well, he gets called upon into a parallel universe along with three other guys to become Heroes to fight the monsters named “waves”. Now that was too much to digest at once, right? I know, I’ll explain it to you slowly, so don’t worry.
Basically, Naofumi and the three other guys were summoned into another world to protect that world from different types of monsters, and they were given specific weapons to fight with. Just like that, Naofumi was given the legendary shield. Shield can be pretty useful right? You can avoid your enemies’ attacks and so on! You can even reverse their attacks on them. That’s pretty dope! Anyways, moving deeper into the story, we get to know that Naofumi is pretty disappointed with the weapon he has received since he can’t stop comparing his weapons with other people. Therefore, his luck gets worse and worse.
Since luck wasn’t on his side, one of his nakamas betrayed him and stole his belongings too! She also accused him of teasing her. As the whole squad was stunned, Naofumi was put to one side to work alone and train to become a hero. That sounds sad, right? Anyways, he buys a human girl from one of the slaves named Taruki. The name of the demi-girl was Raphtalia, who became one of the greatest weapons of Naofumi Iwatani. As the story proceeds, we get to see Raphtalia and Naofumi creating good chemistry and strengthening their bonds, which is literally the cutest thing ever. If you’re curious about them, do watch The Rising of the Shield Hero, alright? For now, we’re going to learn more and more about the characters in this anime. Let’s go!
MAIN CHARACTERS
Naofumi Iwatani
Naofumi Iwatani is the main character of the anime. He’s considered an easy-going individual who usually gets trapped and betrayed easily. Yes, despite all those traits, he was summoned to another world. It sounds hilarious if you think about it, right? Anyway, let’s talk about his appearance now.
Naofumi has black hair and is of average height. He has a cynical perspective of this world. Whenever he’s in danger and gets saved by someone, he expresses his gratitude. He wears barbarian armor, which continuously gets transformed and upgraded.
Depending upon the intensity of a situation, he changes his armor. If we talk about his weapon, it’s nothing more than a legendary shield. As I’ve mentioned before, there are many benefits to this shield, you just have to be smart enough to use them! First, you can dodge the attacks of your enemies. Secondly, you can reverse-attack them using that shield. I feel so smart right now. Just kidding, it’s just the basic knowledge.
Anyways, we get to see his character development too when he comes across several difficulties by himself. You know how tough times can change a person. Just like that, Naofumi was changed into a mature person.
You can definitely trust him, and he’s a positive person, so he’ll always give you hope when you’re about to give up. We all need someone like that in our lives. Isn’t that right? Anyways, he tends to rely on others as well. For instance, with Raphtalia by his side, he feels strong and protected. But this character is swapped when the story proceeds, and Naofumi turns into a mature guy who realizes his own powers.
Raphtalia
Raphtalia is also one of the main characters in the series and in fact, she’s the first companion of Shield Hero. She never treated Naofumi in a bad way and has always been there for him like a friend. Isn’t that sweet? If you wanna learn more about their chemistry, you should watch The Rising of the Shield Hero! You’re going to love it!
Raphtalia is portrayed as a shy girl. She gets scared easily at times and she is traumatized with the memories of the destruction of his village. It must have been pretty tough on her, right? So, her status as a slave makes her look down upon herself. As a result, her self-esteem goes all the way down the drain. Raphtalia is definitely one of the waifus you would want by your side since she’s very sweet and reliable.
Naofumi is one of those people who never judged Raphtalia’s status. Instead, he took care of her and became his friend. Although Raphtlia wants the best for Naofumi and wants him to act like a hero yet he ends up disappointing her many times. Poor guy, now I feel bad for him.
CONCLUSION
