PLOT

relife

The plot centers on Arata Kaizaki, 27-year-old, NEET who’s been idle (while simultaneously pretending to have a job) for many years, with the exception of a few hours each week in a convenience shop in Tokyo. Kaizaki is approached by a mystery guy called Ryo Yoake who promises him a job chance; however, he must first volunteer as a tester for ReLife, a scientific project that would make him seem ten years younger as well as bring him back to middle school like a student in order to qualify. The experiment is intended to offer the patient the opportunity to relive his or her childhood and, there in process, correct any problems that may have arisen in their lives.

CHARACTERS

Arata Kaizaki

Arata Kaizaki

Anastasio Arata, a 27-year-old person who became jobless following his resignation at a firm after just three months, stating the rationale was that “it didn’t match his utmost potential.” It came after a string of unsuccessful interviews for jobs with other organizations, most of which were caused by his nervousness when questioned why he quit his previous position after just three months. As a result of his efforts, An Onoya discovered him when he was working extra at a convenience shop.

An Onoya then selected him again for the ReLife Project. As a 17-year-old high schooler, Arata is expected to be seen as sophisticated by his peers, and he has little trouble establishing new acquaintances. He has missed much of his education life, and as a result, he must take a number of remedial exams. He is unable to fall in love because of his (actual) age and after the medication he must take when the experiment is completed, despite Ry’s encouragement to “enjoy the ReLife to the fullest extent possible.” Kanto Prefecture is actively working with him on Project #002 (the second project).

Chizuru Hishiro

20. Chizuru Hishiro

Chizuru Hishiro is Arata’s classmate who is very intelligent yet socially awkward. She regularly has the highest marks in her class, earning her the position of class representative and receiving full reimbursement for all of her school expenditures as a consequence. She’s not just socially awkward , but she is also clueless when it comes to topics that are not directly linked to education or books such as emotional and social issues, and she is especially oblivious when it comes to politics.

Whenever she comes across anything she doesn’t understand, she goes online and does some research. It is discovered that she’s also a ReLIFE subject, and that she participated in 2 terms. She finds love with Arata, and she begins to assume (correctly) that he is also a subject.

Rena Kariu

Rena Kariu

A classmate of Arata who also happens to be a member of a volleyball club sits near to him in his class on the second row. A very competitive young lady, she strives to be the greatest in all she does. She considers Honoka and Chizuru to be her competitors, yet she maintains cordial relations with each of them as well. Inwardly, Rena is obstinate and self-assured, yet she is also befuddled. The fact that she has a crush on Kazuomi Oga and behaves inappropriately towards him, made it seem that she is a tsundere. Later on, she and Kazuomi began dating and fell in love with one another. Originally from Kariu Station, her surname means “from Kariu.”

Ryo Yoake

Ryo Yoake

Ryo Yoake, a ReLife supervisor of Kaizaki, the guy who approached him about participating in the ReLife program. He and Arata are the same age, and constantly seem to be in a good mood.  In his role as supervisor, he keeps a close eye on Arata at all times and keeps track of his activities via daily reports. Later on, he begins a romantic involvement with An. Yoake Station is where his surname originates.

Kazuomi Oga

Kazuomi Oga

Arata’s classmate, who, together with Chizuru, serves as the spokesperson for the class. In the classroom, he does well, but his athletic talents are quite limited. He also lacks flirting skills, but with the support of Attract, more consumers and their friends, he comes to terms with his love for Rena, declaring that he wishes to be with her and just doesn’t want her to provide for another man at the same time.

He distinguishes himself by dressing in an especially eye-catching manner, garnering him the moniker “Flashy Oga”. The  surname he has was derived from the Oga Station. His elder brother was originally a joyful guy who turned out a NEET as a result of intense pressure, and he is subsequently picked to participate as in ReLife program in Project #005 under Arata Kaizaki.
