Seraph of the End Storyline
The world of Seraph of the End or Owari no Seraph has an unusual setting to it. The world has been devoured by vampires due to an unknown deadly virus. This virus eradicated most of the humans, making vampires dominant in humanity.
Amidst this chaos, our MC, Yuichiro Hyakuya, is trying his best to resolve the situation and find his childhood friend by joining the Imperial Demon Army. To his surprise, things aren’t as easy as they seem. Yuichiro must face a lot of adversity and fight a lot of strong guys to become powerful enough to save the human world.
Will Yuichiro be able to save his friends and the human world from Vampires? You can watch the series to find that out.
How Many Seasons of Seraph of the End Are There?
If we talk about Seraph of the End’s season, there’s only one season to this date. The name of the first season is “Seraph of the End: Vampire Reign” and it contains a total of 25 episodes. From episodes 1-12, we have the first cour, and from 13-25, we have the second cour.
The ending episode is an OVA, and it’s not manga canon. It’s a mixed one! So, let’s talk about the one and only borderline filler episode of Seraph of the End.
Vampire Shahai (Episode 25)
Episode 25 of Seraph of the End is a mixed one. It’s not manga canon but it’s not a complete filler either. The title was released on May 2nd, 2016. Here’s the storyline.
Shahai is a very shady vampire who captures and kidnaps a human girl named Riko. No one knows Shahai’s true intentions, and even though he’s captured Riko, he’s not drinking any human girl’s blood.
That’s super odd for everyone in the series. After capturing Riko, Shahai gets visited by two vampire nobles known as Crowley and Ferid. Now, it’s up to Shino Squad under the leadership of Guren to rescue Riko and safely return her to the family. Will our MCs be able to handle such an interesting task at hand? That’s the question.
Seraph of the End Cours
Seraph of the End Cour 1 (Episode 1-12)
The first cour of Seraph of the End was the building block of its story. We see the epidemic striking and killing all adults in the human world. The only people who are left are kids and vampires. We see the friendship of Yuichiro, the MC, and his best friend, Mikaela. After the failed attempt to move away from the cursed orphanage, Yuichiro escapes the vampire named Ferid, who started to devour the human boys one by one and ran away.
The first cour includes a lot of things like Yuichiro joining the Shinoa squad, making new friends, fighting a lot of powerful vampires on the way to save Mikaela. In episode 11, we finally see Mikaela and Yuichiro together, but this time, something is way off. They’re each other’s enemies on the battlefield. Why is this happening and what will be the outcome of cour 1? You’ll have to watch the season to find that out.
Seraph of the End Cour 2 (Episode 13-25)
In this cour, we see a lot of interesting battles like Shinoa Hiragi and Guren Ichinose. What’s their beef and who’s fault is their fight? Will the two handsome guys be able to figure that out? The second cour was also interesting in this way where Yu and Mika reunite.
After their reunion, Mikaela tries his best to hold back his hunger, however, he really wants to drink Yuichiro’s blood to survive. Will Mika be able to hold back his animal instinct and abandon his vampire self?
Or will our poor boy fight all the good guys and drink their blood? The second cour of Seraph of the End will unfold all those secrets. Just you wait! You can watch the episodes now on streaming platforms like Crunchyroll, Funimation, and others!
Seraph of the End - The Background
The origin of Seraph of the End began on September 3rd, 2012 when it was first serialized by Shueisha. However, the actual Anime was adapted by WIT STUDIO on August 28th, 2014. After a while, Funimation licensed Seraph of the End in English and it got released on the same day as the Japanese version used to get.
However, it was released in cours. The first cour of Seraph of the End aired from April 4 to June 20, 2015. On the other hand, the second cour of the Anime ran from October 10th, 2015 to December 26th, 2015.
The Anime got so popular to the point where it was actually nominated for the best Shonen Manga at the 40th Kodansha Manga awards (annual).
The Anime itself has such a unique post-apocalyptic setting that it instantly caught the attention of many fans from all around the world. Owari No Seraph is still known as one of the best filler-free vampire Anime that you can ever watch.
