Overlord is a dark, fantastical anime that tells us the story of a young man confined to a video game. Let me clear the confusion: the story is pretty interesting once you start watching it, and if you are wondering whether there are filler episodes or not!

When it comes to interesting stories, characters, animation, and even action, Overlord has to be included in the list! The story of this anime is very well-portrayed. So, don’t hesitate to start watching this anime.  

Filler episodes are the types of episodes that can be skipped. For an anime that aired back in 2015 with 39 episodes, you must be wondering if  there are many filler episodes. Plot

Overlord’s story is set in a futuristic world in the year of 2126. The game in which our MC gets trapped is a Full Dive Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. It can also be called DMMORPG. This game is different from any other game since individuals are able to interact with it. Now the real story begins when the game is about to shut down after 12 years.

There’s a guild in the game called “Ainz Ooal Gown” that has something like 41 members and is known to be one of the strongest guilds in the game. After the shut-down, only four members exist. Other members of the game leave the game. Just like that, a skeleton player named Overlord continues the game as the leader.

For many reasons, he has to continue playing the game as the guild leader due to many reasons. He really couldn’t  log out of the server. Therefore, he was trapped inside the game. 

As the story proceeds, this skeleton player, aka Overlord, is burdened with many responsibilities within the game. In fact, he has to look after the matters of headquarters as well. The location of the headquarters is The Great Tomb of Nazarick. When the game was being shut down, Overlord decided to call over the guild members, only to find out that there was only one person who showed up. And he was pretty disappointed by this. Anyways, moving on, he accepted his fate and understood the fact that his friends had better things to take care of. 

Let’s talk about what was happening when the game was about to shut down! At that time, Momonga found that the game hadn’t stopped or disappeared. Instead, the users were transported to this game. Just like that, Momonga found himself trapped inside this game as an avatar. This left him without many choices. He couldn’t function as an ordinary player in the game.

With no other choice left, Momonga decided to  find out whether there were other people like him in the game or not. Accepting his fate, he became the guild leader and named it “Ainz Ooal Gown”. This name was basically chosen to send messages to other people like him, which I don’t know how exactly, but yes. 

Then he begins to explore the world of this virtual reality game. Imagine being trapped inside a video game and then facing tough challenges. Sounds pretty intense, right? Since he’s the leader of the guild, he made sure that other guild members were safe and he could help other people like him solve their confusions or complications.

Momonga, after learning about this alternating reality, becomes unstoppable. He literally becomes overpowered. In fact, this is a story about the psychology of a player whose abilities outrank others! So, if you find the storyline interesting, you better give it a go! Main Characters 

These are some of the main characters in the anime “Overlord”. 

Ainz Ooal Gown 

Ainz Ooal Gown is the main character of the anime. He’s known as the Overlord of The Great Tomb of Nazarick. He also made “Pandora’s Actor”. This character is literally one of the supreme & unstoppable beings in the virtual reality world of Overlord.  By appearance, he looks like a skeleton who doesn’t have any meat or skin. He mostly wears a jet black gown decorated with golden edges. We can see the red glow in his eyes. It can become very intense too when he’s battling. 

If we talk about his personality, he’s a careful person who thinks a thousand times before doing anything. He’s a responsible person whose leadership qualities are worth-appreciating. He’s very logical and overpowered. Trust me, you don’t want to mess with this guy. 

When it comes to his abilities, he’s definitely undefeatable. With his extraordinary ability, called Dark Wisdom, he was able to learn 718 different spells. Due to this knowledge of magic, he was selected among the top five people in the guild. During his time in the game, he learned the position of spellcasting console for more than a year. Albedo 

Albedo is another main character from the series “Overlord.” She’s the love interest of Ainz Ooal Gown. She’s very loyal to him and loves him dearly. Ainz seems to hold her very dearly too, seeing how he’s always protecting her and is there for her. Isn’t their chemistry really sweet? 

If you haven’t watched Overlord, you must be wondering who this Albedo is. Well, she’s one of the guardians of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. She also looks after the activities done by Floor Guardians. Albedo has two sisters, and she’s the middle sister. Her beauty is unmatched; she literally looks like a goddess with black hair. She wears a white dress, and Albedo also has two white horns on her head. When it comes to her personality, I would say she’s quite loyal and she’s seen quite clingy with Ainz. She’s always looking for his attention and I think that’s actually really sweet! Isn’t it?
