There’s a lot to say about this anime, especially since it has been released quite recently, but the material itself is pretty old. The controversy behind this anime mainly stems from the fact that it started out as a webtoon. Judging by the fact that there are so many negative reviews, it had quite the fanbase.

But the critics do have a point. Crunchyroll decided to adapt 3 Webtoons into anime. So far, they haven’t done an excellent job; Noblesse is the third one. If you jump into the series without any background knowledge, you’ll be lost. The only way to get a context of what’s happening in the story is by watching the OVA. It’s not your typical shonen anime, in the sense that the characters are the main backbone of the series instead of the plot.    

The initial episodes were also quite rushed, in my opinion, as I imagine they had to get the plot rolling.

Despite the pacing issues, this was a pretty ok adaptation; in my opinion, especially when you consider that this was a webtoon series, and good adaptations when that particular genre is concerned are hard to come by.
